"Wenshan Sanatorium Rules":
Welcome to Wenshan Sanatorium. Here, we uphold the principle of "serving the patient in every way" and will provide you with the most meticulous care. Please abide by the following rules:
1. Free time at Wenshan Sanatorium is from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Outside of these times, a curfew is in effect, and only doctors and nurses on duty are allowed to move around freely.
2. The hospital has strict rules and regulations, and everything must be done in accordance with them.
3. The patient's status cannot be changed; apart from that, anything is possible.
4. To reiterate, the buildings here have a maximum height of 10 floors. If you accidentally end up on an unknown floor, good luck. If you see an elevator that suddenly appears, please pretend you didn't see it.
5. The basement is a restricted area; no one is allowed to enter except the dean and his assistant.
6. Please keep your personal belongings safe. We are not responsible for any lost items. If you accidentally receive an extra item, congratulations, you've won a prize!
7. Here, you can leave at any time after working for a full year.
8. The cafeteria will provide healthy food, so please be sure to arrive at the cafeteria on time for meals. The cafeteria's opening times are random and will be announced by loudspeaker.
Looking at the thin parchment in her hand, Yan Qing finally felt a little relieved after two days of worry.
According to the established rules of the Mysterious World, in high-level instances with multiple rules, the main instance rules are the supreme code of conduct. If other side rules conflict with the main rules, the main instance rules shall prevail.
Therefore, what she has in her hands right now is the most important guide to survival. As usual, Yan Qing immediately took out the small round ball to scan the degree of rule contamination.
As a result, except for the fourth and seventh rules which turned red, the other rules remained uncontaminated.
As for rule number four, the red text in the first half states, "The buildings here are only 10 stories high." This violation of the rule implies that the buildings here are more than 10 stories high, and the extra floors may harbor significant dangers.
Article 7 is entirely in red, which has two possible interpretations. One is that even if you stay for the full year, you might not be able to leave. The other is that you don't need to stay for a full year to leave. Currently, it's unclear which is more accurate.
However, five-star dungeons, as the threshold for entering high-level dungeons, are subject to considerable uncertainty. The time required to clear them can range from a few days to several years.
Yan Qing didn't want to stay here for a year or two; she wanted to leave as soon as possible.
Just as the two were about to continue chatting and exchanging feelings, an extremely unpleasant duck scream suddenly rang out in the corridor.
Mu Yang's eyes lit up instantly. He grabbed Yan Qing and ran outside.
"Quick, dinner's ready! We need to hurry, or there won't be any food left!"
Although Yan Qing was carrying two people, she ran quite fast. She even gradually ran ahead of Mu Yang.
The sound came from a food cart, pushed by an impatient old woman. A loudspeaker on her cart was blasting horribly awful duck chorus.
Yan Qing and her group were among the first to arrive at the food truck. She quickly glanced at the food on the truck and found only one item—canned instant rice. The price was marked next to it: 10 spirit coins per serving.
"Damn, it's expensive again!!" Mu Yang's voice came from the side. "This old lady is even more miserly than Scrooge, she might as well just rob us!"
Even so, he still bought six servings of instant rice while grumbling.
Seeing his reaction, Yan Qing understood. The cafeteria's opening hours were random, which meant she didn't know where her next meal would come from. As someone with plenty of money, she wasn't short of cash.
"Auntie, I want 100 servings!" When she said this, Mu Yang's eyes almost popped out.
The old woman selling food glared at her, "Do you have that much money? This old woman only accepts spirit coins, not cash!"
"Yes, yes!" Yan Qing took out 10 hundred-yuan spirit coins and put them on the old lady's food cart.
The old lady's expression immediately turned kind, and she happily put away the spirit coins. "Little girl, you're quite capable. It looks like this old woman can leave work early today!"
Yan Qing deftly began counting the cans of food. One hundred cans of rice filled a large sack, enough to last her a long time.
Taking advantage of the fact that no one was around, she quickly ran back to her office. She only kept a small portion in her backpack, and put the rest of the canned food into her ring.
One of the survival rules in the apocalypse is that you never know when your next meal will come, so it's best to stock up on supplies.
Yan Qing's massive stockpiling resulted in a significant portion of the subsequent large group that arrived empty-handed. Others were shocked by the old woman's exorbitant prices and had no spirit coins to buy food, barely surviving on water.
In the office, Yan Qing and Xiao Tao were sitting side by side eating boxed lunches. As a human NPC, Xiao Tao has been eating much better since she started following Yan Qing.
She couldn't help but offer herself to Yan Qing, "Big sister, can I follow you around forever?"
Yan Qing also coveted Xiao Tao's special physique. She knew Xiao Tao must have a deeper secret, which would be extremely beneficial for her in clearing the "Strange Tales of the Rules" dungeon. However, with the quest already in hand, she could only sigh.
"Big sister would like to too, but your parents have already told me to deliver you to Dean Xiao. By the way, Xiao Tao, can you sense Dean Xiao?" Yan Qing was hoping that Xiao Tao's special physique would continue to work, but this time she miscalculated.
Xiao Tao shook her head, looking somewhat confused. "Big sister, do you remember that long-haired aunt in white we met on the bus? I felt a connection to her, but it was also a bit strange."
As Xiaotao spoke, she became somewhat unsure how to describe it, "The aura of blood ties should be very comforting, but I feel she is extremely dangerous. Big sister, you must be careful of this person."
Yan Qing had actually been wary of her for a while; people who get on the bus halfway through usually have ulterior motives. Most importantly, this woman seemed to have vanished immediately after getting off the bus.
She had absolutely no recollection of this person ever taking sides. That was very suspicious.
After lunch, Yan Qing rested briefly before continuing to lead her entourage around the wards, ostensibly for ward rounds.
At the nurses' station, the nurse on duty that afternoon was Jiang Xinxin. However, she seemed to be daydreaming. Yan Qing walked up to her without noticing her, instead continuing to play on her phone.
She glanced at the phone and saw a bizarre live stream of someone dismembering a body using various tools; the bloodstains made her want to vomit. But Jiang Xinxin was completely engrossed, her mouth watering uncontrollably.
