Zheng Na seemed a little uncomfortable after what she said. She cleared her throat and then said somewhat shyly,
"It's all my fault, it's all my fault. Shall we continue with the handover?"
Yan Qing then let go, took out the signature form she had made herself that day from her pocket, and handed it to Zheng Na.
"This is my record of receiving medication today. It has been handed over to the attending nurse on time, and here is their signed record."
Zheng Na awkwardly accepted the signed form and offered a somewhat insincere compliment, "Dr. Yan is really too conscientious and responsible." However, her gaze wasn't on her; instead, she stared intently into Yue Qi's eyes.
"Who is this colleague?"
Yue Qi then let go and smiled. He introduced himself, "My name is Yue Qi, and I am Dr. Mu's cousin."
"Dr. Mu's cousin?" Upon hearing this name, Zheng Na seemed to come alive a little more, and her tone became much more sincere.
"You mean, you're Dr. Mu Yang's cousin? But I've never heard him mention you before?"
Yue Qi then adopted a slightly somber expression, looking somewhat sullen. "My cousin had a little conflict with his family, so he ran away on his own. I came here to find him."
To gain people's trust, he even rolled up his sleeves to reveal the sect mark on his wrist, saying, "This mark is our family mark. My cousin has one exactly the same on his hand."
Zheng Na carefully examined the sect mark on his hand, and then finally switched to a friendly communication mode.
"Since that's the case, we're all family now. To be honest, Dr. Mu is very important to us."
"Oh? Is that so?" Yue Qi seemed very curious.
Zheng Na sighed, "In our hospital, we've been subjected to inexplicable attacks for a long time. Sometimes people just vanish in broad daylight and can never be found again. Thanks to Dr. Mu, we have a safe haven—I still need my life to find my heart!"
Yan Qing focused on the word she had just inadvertently uttered—shelter. She had an instinctive premonition that this so-called shelter was a key that could unlock the secrets of Wenshan Sanatorium.
Sure enough, Yue Qi then asked the question that was on her mind, "Dr. Zheng, is the shelter you mentioned the white room at the end of our corridor?"
Zheng Na nodded, "It seems you've already been there!" Since they were all on the same side, she added a special note.
"I bet you haven't seen them yet. Listen to me, remember this: stay far away from people wearing black protective suits and leg irons! They will bring you misfortune. Remember, remember!"
Yue Qi and Yan Qing exchanged a glance, both seeing the understanding in each other's eyes.
It was already past five in the afternoon when they came out of the duty room. As usual, the two went to the elevator to wait. The elevator stopped on the first floor, and Yan Qing pressed the down button.
The elevator wasn't moving at all, and the door indicator showed it was still on the first floor. But no one had used the elevator! What's going on?
After waiting a while longer, the elevator still didn't move. Yan Qing pressed the button several more times, but got the same result each time.
"Looks like our elevator is more eager to close than people!" Yan Qing said with a wry smile. "Then we'll just have to use the fire escape."
Yue Qi reminded her, "If I remember correctly, there should only be a wall at the fire escape. My dear Miss Yan Qing, do you intend to break down the wall?"
"Of course not!" Yan Qing thought of the men in black with chains on their feet. "I remember you said that those men in black with chains on their feet were actually adventurers, right? Since they were able to come through the fire escape, it means there should be a way through the fire escape, right?"
Yue Qi stared at the unchanging floor numbers on the elevator doors. It seemed their only hope lay in this fire escape. Otherwise, they would surely be trapped here tonight.
"Let's go, let's take a gamble!"
Yue Qi led the way, pulling her along the corridor back to the fire escape. Along the way, they encountered many medical personnel. Strangely, everyone ignored them, as if they didn't know them at all.
As she passed by the ward, she found it odd; it seemed these patients had been sleeping ever since she finished her shift. But it was only 5 p.m., who would be sleeping at this hour?
The green sign at the entrance to the fire escape is very obvious. But beneath the sign, there is only an empty white wall, without even a hint of a door.
Yan Qing was still somewhat unconvinced. "Those men in black clearly came up from here during the day, right? And since the map clearly marks it as a 'fire exit,' how come there's no way through?"
Yue Qi didn't speak, but Yan Qing saw his blue eye start flashing again, like a detector scanning the wall inch by inch.
After a while, a joyful voice rang out, "I found it!"
"Big sister, she's here!"
Two voices, one loud and one soft, rang out at the same time. Yan Qing looked over and saw that both hands were pointing to the northwest corner of the wall, where there was a slightly recessed area that was barely noticeable unless you looked closely.
Before Yan Qing could ask, Xiao Tao ran over and pressed her little hand on the dented area.
"Boom—Boom—Boom—"
With a trembling sound, the white wall suddenly cracked open in the middle, revealing a dark, downward staircase.
