Chapter 66 The purpose of cooperation is to survive!

While Yan Qing and Jiang Xinxin were talking, the new male nurse kept secretly glancing at Yan Qing. But when Yan Qing looked at him, he would pretend that nothing was wrong.

This was getting interesting. Yan Qing was quite perceptive, so she naturally noticed that something was off about the new nurse. But just to be on the safe side, she decided to observe first.

After all, dozens of people died last night, so it's remarkable that this person survived.

The first thing she did at work was still to make her rounds in the wards, even though she didn't have to prescribe medication during the night shift. However, the patients in the wards were still in much the same state of mind as when she left work yesterday; most of them looked dazed and listless.

However, the people lost in thought weren't the same as yesterday. At least half of them were unfamiliar faces. It seemed these must be the new adventurers.

In that case, since she got off work last night, there should have been many people "discharged" from the ward.

To confirm her suspicions, Yan Qing went to see the head nurse.

"Yes, last night, quite a few patients requested to be discharged. Because there were so many, we didn't have time to register them all." The head nurse still smiled gently and kindly, but Yan Qing felt a chill run down her spine.

Okay, now Yan Qing is finally certain. Tonight will definitely not be peaceful.

However, although most of the patients were no longer there, she still managed to find an acquaintance—Jin Zijie from room 801.

Yan Qing was also surprised that this person had survived. Moreover, compared to the others, although Jin Zijie seemed somewhat mentally unstable, at least he was conscious, which was a pleasant surprise.

When Yan Qing found him, Jin Zijie was hiding under the covers, playing a game of searching for his right hand with his left. The male nurse in charge of his bed told her that he had been playing this game since he started work that day.

"He's been acting strangely here since this morning, ignoring everyone who talks to him. But he's quite well-behaved when he's taking his medicine, so I haven't bothered with him."

The male nurse introduced himself as Su Yue, a sophomore at S University and a new adventurer who arrived yesterday. As one of the adventurers who had experienced the most brutal entry hurdles, he looked down on Jin Zijie.

It's really spineless of them to drive someone crazy with just one medicine.

Thinking this, he secretly began to scrutinize Yan Qing again. This person didn't seem particularly capable; she was probably just a lucky one. How could she compare to him?

Therefore, his attitude towards Yan Qing was somewhat perfunctory. Yan Qing naturally noticed this, but she always kept her distance from this kind of person.

In that brief interaction, she had already clearly seen that this man had thick calluses on his hands, indicating he was definitely skilled in martial arts. To have survived last night, he must possess more than just this one ability.

Yan Qing chatted with him for a couple of minutes with a smile, then Su Yue made an excuse to leave. Only then did she turn her attention back to Jin Zijie, who was still playing his game erratically, completely ignoring her.

However, the two people in his ward, although replaced by unfamiliar new people, were currently in a dazed state due to the effects of the medication.

After making sure no one was around, Yan Qing quietly moved closer to Jin Zijie.

"I know you're not crazy. How about we make a deal?"

"Haha—fists, punch, punch, punch!" Jin Zijie remained dazed, as if he couldn't understand what she was saying at all.

Yan Qing's gaze fell on the exposed part of Jin Zijie's arm, where there were more than one purplish-brown bluish-green spot, with a grayish tinge in the blue, looking particularly abnormal.

She took out a small bottle of diluted gold water that she had prepared in advance, about twenty milliliters in total. She deliberately waved the small bottle back and forth in front of Jin Zijie's eyes several times.

Jin Zijie's pupils contracted and expanded violently several times, and Yan Qing noticed that his breathing had become much heavier. However, this man possessed remarkable composure; even in this state, he stubbornly refused to admit it.

"Alright, I was originally thinking of making a deal with you using it, but since you don't like it, you must have other ways to alleviate the pollution, right?"

Yan Qing deliberately sighed, and casually reminded him, "As far as I know, the appearance of bluish-purple lividity on the body means that the contamination is almost irreversible. Unless you have the Golden Water, you can only slowly wait to die, sigh!"

She shook her head and made to get up and leave. Sure enough, a hand grabbed the hem of her dress.

Jin Zijie looked at her with clear eyes and repeated, "Are you sure the Golden Water can remove pollution? What about the medicine? Can it remove it too?"

Yan Qing looked at him and laughed, "Anyway, you didn't actually drink it, did you? If I'm not mistaken, you probably secretly tried to vomit it up after you drank the medicine, right?"

“You’re right. I didn’t expect you to be so smart.” Jin Zijie rolled up his sleeve, revealing an arm covered in lividity. “But even if I vomited as fast as I could, some of the medicine was still absorbed by my body, which is why I look like this.”

"That's still better than becoming like them, right?" Yan Qing looked at the other two people in the ward. Their bodies looked no different from ordinary people, except that their body temperature felt much lower. Moreover, they had almost completely lost their minds, leaving only empty shells.

"Why are they different from you? They should have drunk it all, right? How come they don't have any bruises?"

Jin Zijie must have observed this quite a bit. He had a guess in his mind.

"I was originally a sophomore in medical school, although I didn't take many specialized courses. But I'm still quite sensitive to various experiments," Jin Zijie said cautiously.

"I suspect that someone is using these living people to conduct some kind of experiment—we are all just their test subjects."

His thoughts were similar to Yan Qing's guess, but Yan Qing wasn't as confident as he was.

"How can you be so sure that someone is conducting human experiments in this sanatorium?"

Jin Zijie's eyes lit up. He took out a small plastic tube from inside his hospital gown. The white liquid inside looked very familiar to her; it was the "tonic" that patients had to drink every day.

"I once saw this thing by chance at my teacher's place," Jin Zijie said, his tone somewhat heavy.

"I hadn't thought of it that way until last night, when I discovered that the white medicine had turned transparent..."

He began to mutter to himself, "White during the day, colorless at night, isn't this the gene evolution potion that the teachers are researching?"
