What does that mean? What does "that's how it is" mean?
Yan Qing had only intended to give it a try, but she never expected that she would actually succeed?
The black-robed man's meaning was quite clear: he and Master Sima did not appear to be twin brothers. This also contradicted Master Sima's earlier statement.
But these two look almost identical. Could they be cousins?
Yan Qing didn't continue on that topic, but instead asked a question she was very curious about.
"Were you also invited to the wedding?"
The man in the black robe shook his head. "He won't invite me." He then gave a bitter laugh. "He probably wants me to stay as far away from him as possible."
Yan Qing was even more confused now. Did these two have some kind of grudge?
"Would you be willing to let us search you? After all, you are currently the prime suspect in the death of Master Sima."
Yan Qing thought the man in black robes would be as amiable as before, but this time he refused.
"No!" His emotions began to surge, as if he had been provoked by something.
The old monk exchanged a glance with Yan Qing and said, "Amitabha, benefactor, why don't you take off that black robe? Aren't you hot?"
He pointed to the blazing sun outside, his face showing compassionate concern.
The man in the black robe remained steadfast in his refusal, even deliberately tightening his robe further.
Young Master Liang has always had a fiery temper; he couldn't tolerate this.
"You bastard, you're asking for it, aren't you? I'll peel off your skin myself and see what kind of monster you really are!" He still didn't believe it.
The man in black robes began to scatter in all directions, and the two of them chased and dodged, creating quite a scene.
Just as the man in black robes was about to be caught, Luo Shi, who had fainted from crying, slowly began to wake up.
And that was the end of it.
As soon as Luo opened her eyes, she aimed at Yan Qing and started crying again.
"Sister Su, my life is so miserable!"
Yan Qing quickly stepped forward to comfort her, while taking the opportunity to observe the other woman's expression. Luo's sadness was indeed quite convincing; she couldn't tell yet whether it was feigned.
There was something that puzzled her: when she approached the Luo family, the bracelet on her wrist seemed to light up briefly, and then it stopped responding.
What does this mean?
Luo Shi sobbed for a long time. As the lady of the house, she still had to force herself to take care of the funeral arrangements for Master Sima.
"Everyone—" Madam Luo bowed to the crowd, "My late husband has unfortunately passed away, and I am truly unable to manage things on my own. I ask that you all bear with me."
The first to speak out were Dr. Zhang and his wife, saying, "Don't worry, we won't ignore this. We will make sure that Brother Sima is properly buried."
An elderly monk nodded in approval.
Yan Qing and her brother naturally followed suit, as they had a mission to complete.
Young Master Liang's reaction was quite unexpected. He jumped up and said, "I'm not doing this. You guys handle it yourselves. I'm going home now."
No one stopped him, so Madam Luo could only curtsy and say, "Young Master Liang, please take care."
Everyone watched as Young Master Liang swaggered out of the front hall.
Yan Qing sighed silently in her heart. The reason these people stayed was definitely not simply to see Master Sima off. They must have other purposes.
As for that young master Liang, it's uncertain whether he'll be able to leave!
Sure enough, less than a quarter of an hour later, Young Master Liang returned looking dejected.
She started throwing a tantrum as soon as she entered the door, "What the hell? The front door just won't open no matter what! Mrs. Luo, are you doing this on purpose?"
Luo's face immediately paled. "What makes you say that?"
"Come with me, all of you. I'll show you with your own eyes! Let's see what you have to say then!"
Young Master Liang led everyone to the main gate with a gloomy expression. This time it was even stranger. The original location of the gate had been replaced by a red-roofed white wall!
"Wait a minute! Where's the gate?!" Young Master Liang exclaimed in shock. "The gate was just here a moment ago!"
He panicked completely and started groping around on the wall.
"Impossible, impossible! The door is right here, yes, it must be!"
Young Master Liang frantically touched every section of the dozens of meters-long white wall, and finally had to admit that the gate had indeed disappeared.
"It's all your fault!" He turned his guns on Luo Shi. "If I hadn't married such an unlucky woman like you, how could Master Sima have died? How could we be trapped here?! It's all your fault!"
Young Master Liang directed all his anger at Madam Luo, scaring her into hiding behind Yan Qing.
Since things had come to this point, Yan Qing had no choice but to speak up, "Young Master Liang, I think instead of arguing here, we should go and check the other side gates. Surely there are more than one gate in the manor."
"Amitabha, this old monk also agrees with Master Su's point of view. Let's go immediately without delay."
The old monk seemed to know this place very well, presumably having been here many times. He led everyone to two side gates and one corner gate, but without exception, they all led to the same place.
—All the doors had disappeared, meaning that they were now completely trapped inside the mansion.
Undeterred, Young Master Liang attempted to climb over the wall to escape, but before he could even reach the top, he was struck as if by something invisible and fell straight down.
After all this commotion, Young Master Liang finally calmed down.
Yan Qing cautiously probed, "Could it be because of the vengeful spirit of Master Sima? Was his death a deliberate murder?"
