"Dad! Mom!" The moment she saw who it was, Lu Nange almost instinctively pushed open the car door, jumped out of the car, and ran towards her parents.
She didn't care about anything else, rushed to her parents, stretched out her arms, hugged them, buried her face between them, and spoke in a muffled voice.
With an uncontrollable tremor and choked sobs, she said, "You're back...you're really back! Mom and Dad..."
[It's so good that you're not covered in blood!]
Lu Beiye was quick to react; he unbuckled his seatbelt and ran over with his short legs.
He was still short, so he could only hug his mother's leg first, then look up at her with his little face and say, "Dad! Mom!"
Lu Jin and Sang Niannian were caught off guard by their children's sudden, almost "fierce" enthusiastic hug, and they both subconsciously looked at each other.
Sang Niannian was the first to react. She raised her hand and gently stroked Lu Nange's back, her voice extremely soft.
"What's wrong? My Nannan... she was fine last night, wasn't she? It's only been one night, why does she act like... she hasn't seen her mother in ages?"
Lu Jin felt his neck tighten as his daughter strangled him, but his heart softened completely.
His gaze shifted and landed on his youngest son, who was only holding his mother and sister, seemingly having "forgotten" his father.
He deliberately put on a stern face: "Young man! Your dad is standing right here! Can't you see him?"
All you do is hug your mom and your sister, but don't you ever think to hug your old man too?
Lu Beiye's head shook as his father's large hand rubbed it, causing his hair to stick up in disarray.
He wasn't angry at all. Instead, he let go of his mother and sister, turned around, and hugged Lu Jin: "Dad!"
Even Shikazu was stunned.
The youngest son has always been quiet and reserved, even somewhat aloof, and rarely shows such initiative in getting close or expressing his emotions.
The couple looked at each other again, this time with even greater surprise, mixed with more confusion and a hint of unease.
"Nannan... what's this, Aye?"
Sang Niannian's gaze darted back and forth between her daughter and son, while Lu Nange forced herself to detach herself from her emotional turmoil.
"Nothing much, maybe it's just... I suddenly had a breakthrough this morning?"
Lu Beiye stood next to his father and nodded solemnly.
Her little face had a serious expression that said, "Sister is right, whatever sister says goes," which almost made Shikajin laugh.
The doubts in Lu Jin's heart were somewhat dispelled by his children's unusual intimacy, and replaced by a joyful sense of relief.
He bent down, picked up Lu Beiye, and spun him around twice in the air.
"Could it be that my little Ye is... scared because she's going to ride in your sister's car?"
"What nonsense are you talking about!" Sang Niannian playfully slapped her husband's arm, but her gaze lingered tenderly on her two children.
She asked softly, "Nan Nan, where are you planning to drive to?"
Lu Nange: "Mom, it's my brother. He's back from Beijing with some friends. Aye and I want to go to the airport to pick them up."
"Lu Xici?" Lu Jin frowned upon hearing this.
"He's a grown man, why should you, his sister who just got her driver's license, pick him up when he comes home? What kind of talk is that! Let him come back by himself!"
Lu Nange: "Dad! It was me who wanted to pick up my older brother!"
When Lu Jin met his daughter's gaze, his tone immediately softened: "If my daughter wants to go, then of course she has to go!"
Okay, Dad will come with you, sit in the passenger seat and keep you company! Ah Ye, you can stay home with Mom, okay?
