Chapter 4 Tsunami

Chapter 4 Tsunami

[4]

The noise in her ears became louder, the waves were rising and raging, the sound of buildings being smashed, the roar of cars, the screams of people in fear and despair, she saw fragile low buildings being washed away, and thin high-rise buildings being shaken and about to fall.

The speed of the sea water was very fast, and it was close in a blink of an eye. The waves were a little lower than before, but they still swallowed up all the buildings below three stories.

The cars on the road in front of the "Ronaya" hotel seemed to be leaves swept into the stream. The cars were like toy cars, hit by the waves and hit the hotel wall, breaking through the wall amid the panic of the tourists, and finally swallowed up one by one.

The courtyard and swimming pool downstairs were flooded with water, which then shattered the glass and rushed into the hotel lobby.

The triangular building shook slightly, and Youxi squatted down, her heart pounding.

Although she had made full preparations, at this moment, facing the roar of nature, she still felt trembling and afraid.

The cries for help beside her became clearer and clearer, with children crying and adults screaming in fear and despair.

Some people climbed to a high place nearby and kept calling their relatives, while others finally held onto life-saving tree trunks or buildings, but were collided and carried away by the broken building debris in the water.

She saw the woman on the terrace next door, half-kneeling on the railing, looking at the tsunami hell below with a pale face. Her child called her several times from inside the door to no avail, and ran out with his short legs to hug her.

"Mom, water... so much water..." He looked at the terrace in surprise with his eyes wide open.

The woman subconsciously hugged him and held his small body tightly in her arms, as if she was afraid that if she let go, her baby would be swept away by the sea like the people below.

The tsunami waves had already passed the hotel and continued to head north, but there was still a steady stream of water coming from the south. The color of these waters was darker, gray-black, mixed with more building and vehicle debris, people who were unable to struggle to float in the water... and floating corpses.

The water surface was still rising violently, and heavy rain came with the tsunami, carrying a damp smell of the sea, falling quickly and fiercely.

Youxi hurriedly retreated back to the room and closed the glass sliding door tightly. Outside the door, panicked voices and footsteps were heard.

Many people were swept away by the water, but many people were lucky enough to stay on the upper floors with sufficient height when the tsunami hit, or reacted in time and ran to higher floors to survive.

The heavy rain continued to knock on the glass sliding door, and the whole sky seemed to be collapsing.

The heavy rain brought by the tsunami did not stop until the evening. During this period, another tsunami came, raising higher waves on the original water surface.

The surrounding water engulfed all buildings below the fourth floor. After the rain stopped, the water level did not rise again, but it did not recede either.

The survivors in the water around them tried to get closer to the tall building. From the upstairs, Youxi saw the hotel staff release several hand-rowed rubber boats and organize young and strong men who were not injured to go into the water to rescue people. They rescued all the people floating in the nearby waters. These people were all injured, and some were almost dying.

Youxi remembered that the mission this time was to escape from L Island, so even if she had avoided the tsunami now, it did not mean that the mission was successful. It was impossible for her to leave L Island by herself. She couldn't stay in the room all the time. She had to go down and ask around.

She threw her cell phone, passport and wallet directly into the Xingwu warehouse, put two bottles of water, a bag of bread just bought from a small supermarket, some chocolate beef jerky lollipops and the like in her backpack, and then left the room and closed the door.

There were not many residents on the 13th floor originally, and it happened to be afternoon when many guests went out to the beach, so there were even fewer people at this moment. Youxi passed by and saw that the doors of several rooms were open.

Some people were packing their luggage in a panic with their clothes scattered all over the floor; some were watching local news while turning on the TV and constantly changing channels; some were sitting on the floor, soaking wet, with their injured arms exposed to their families to disinfect and stop the bleeding; some children were crying and calling their mothers, but their mothers were making phone calls over and over again like headless flies. The power

was not out in the hotel yet, but for safety reasons Youxi did not plan to take the elevator. As soon as she reached the staircase, the hotel staff happened to push the door and walk into the corridor.

They were here to comfort the guests. At the notice of the staff, a representative was sent from each room with guests on this floor.

Youxi looked around and saw that there were a total of ten guests, including her, which also represented the number of rooms occupied on the thirteenth floor. The crowd was crowded in the slightly larger elevator waiting area. A staff member smiled and spoke in the international common language.

"Don't panic, the tsunami has passed and the sea water should recede within a few hours. The telephone in the room is not available now, the elevator has been stopped, and the water and electricity may be cut off at any time. But don't worry, there is a backup generator on the hotel floor, and there is also a certain amount of stored water. It's just that before the official rescue response, it can't be wasted like before.

Water supply in the room is temporarily fixed for half an hour every day, between 7pm and 7:30pm. In addition, the hotel will provide three meals a day for free from now on. Drinking water is limited to each guest. Guests can bring their room cards and passports to the restaurant on the seventh floor to collect

it. One passport is limited to one. Finally, the hotel below the fourth floor has been flooded. Many guests and staff of our hotel have been swept away by the sea and are now missing. However, we are currently organizing manpower to help with the rescue work. There are many injured people downstairs. We hope that guests who are capable or knowledgeable about medicine can take the initiative to join in and help each other..."

As soon as the staff finished speaking, the guests started to speak, asking various questions.

Some people did not understand the language and said they did not fully understand. Some said that their passports were lost. Some asked about the current situation outside and when the rescue would come. Some cried and said that they could not contact their families and how to find someone to rescue them.

You Xi heard the news she wanted, but still decided to go downstairs to check the situation and go to the restaurant on the seventh floor to get food. Although she had enough food and drink, her behavior would only arouse suspicion in such a big environment, so it was better to keep a

low profile. There were also few guests on the twelfth floor. It seemed that they had been notified, so it was not chaotic. Some guests were holding room cards and passports in their hands, as if they were going downstairs to get food

. The situation on the eleventh and tenth floors was similar. There were obviously more people on the ninth floor. There were several people sitting or standing in the corridor, all wrapped in the hotel's large towels, holding a plastic bag of drinking water in their hands, and resting there.

There were also staff members on the side, taking people to the room one by one.

Because this hotel is far from the coast, expensive, and there are no night snack stalls around, the occupancy rate is not high. Youxi is a little lucky, at least at this stage, she has not yet reached the point where she needs to share a room with others.

As for what happens next, it depends on how many days it will take for the rescue to arrive.

There are few rooms on the eighth floor, and most of the area is the hotel's supporting facilities, including the indoor swimming pool, gym, and SPA. There are more than a dozen soaking wet survivors sitting on the carpet in the gym. Many of them have injuries, but most of them are minor injuries.

Two hotel staff members took two medical kits and bandaged the injured with the cooperation of others.

A young girl was walking around in panic, as if she was looking for a lost relative.

There were people rescued from outside, and hotel guests - the rooms of these guests were flooded, and they had not yet been arranged. The

south-facing building area expanded outwards, and it was a semi-open-air coffee bar plus a bar and western restaurant area. At this moment, there were seven or eight people standing by the open-air fence, looking outside the hotel.

The water level stopped at a height of four floors. Although there were high-rise buildings around, most of them were about six or seven floors high. From the perspective of the eighth floor, the outside looked like an ocean.

The ocean was gray and black in color, with all kinds of building debris, garbage and corpses floating in it. From a distance, you could see the survivors who were fortunately rescued by people in other high-rise buildings crying in pain and despair because of the loss of their loved ones or injuries.

No one spoke loudly, and the people at the fence were shocked by the scene. Some covered their mouths and cried, and some hugged their families tightly, rejoicing that they were still alive.

Youxi stood for a while and went down to the seventh floor.

There were a little more people on this floor, all queuing outside the restaurant to get their meals, and half of them were wearing bath towels and looked like wolves. She glanced at the people who came out to get their meals. The transparent takeaway box contained three dishes and rice, a small bowl of takeaway soup, and a bottle of mineral water.

For a free meal, it was not bad.

The ordering service in the restaurant was naturally cancelled. In fact, the existing cooked dishes and rice were also prepared at noon and were originally intended to be supplied to the buffet restaurant in the evening. As a result, the tsunami came halfway through the work.

After consuming all of these, according to the current situation and manpower of the hotel, they can only try to make some convenient food.

The rooms on the sixth floor are basically full. A staff member pushes a cart with hotel supplies and goes in and out of the rooms on this floor, delivering thin blankets, bath towels, toiletries and slippers.

Painful wails came from the two rooms near the staircase. Youxi went over to check and found that there were several seriously injured patients inside. Some were hit and bleeding; some had lost fingers and torn shoulders; some had building debris pierced into their waists and lay there motionless.

Another had a broken leg, with bones piercing through the flesh and bleeding profusely.

Two hotel staff members were at a loss as to what to do. A young man who was not wearing a hotel staff uniform was directing them to prepare things and sterilize instruments, as if he was going to perform a simple operation on the other person. One

hotel staff member couldn't help it, and said sorry halfway through helping, and quickly ran out of the room with his mouth covered, almost bumping into Youxi.

She steadied the other person with one hand, and took out a bottle of Fengyoujing from her trouser pocket (Xingwu Warehouse) with the other hand, opened her mouth and put it under his nose: "Are you okay?"

The domineering and cool smell of Fengyoujing dissipated the strong smell of blood. The other person suppressed the urge to vomit, and when he looked up, his face was sweaty and pale, and he nodded to her gratefully: "Thank you!"

"You're welcome." She sprinkled some Fengyoujing on his clothes and hands, and then gave him the whole bottle - she bought two large boxes of 6ml Fengyoujing, each box had twenty bottles, "Do you still remember me, I'm a guest of the hotel." The other party
