Chapter 22 Intelligence on the Greedy Wolf Guild (shuhaige.net)

(I was sick a few days ago, so I'm late. This chapter is very long.)

"I'm not one to hold grudges. If I do, I'll settle the score on the spot."

As soon as he finished speaking, the entire place was silent for about ten seconds. Then, the people who had come with him from the Greedy Wolf Guild stood up, took out their weapons, and all aimed them at Su Luo.

The atmosphere was tense, and a battle was about to break out when suddenly someone chuckled and raised their hand to break the tense atmosphere.

"Slap, slap, slap."

"What courage! Before coming here, I was worried that the higher-ups at Noah Base might all be cowards who cower in their shells and dare not come out. I did not expect to find such a woman with such extraordinary bearing. It was my subordinate who spoke rudely to you. I apologize to you."

Upon hearing this, Su Luo looked toward the source of the voice and saw the man who was being treated like a star by the Greedy Wolf Guild, sitting on the throne. He was also the guild leader, Xia Ming.

If Su Luo hadn't known what kind of person Xia Ming was, she might have actually been fooled by his words today.

It is said that you can know a person's face but not their heart. Xia Ming looks like a scholar with integrity and a noble family background. If it were a peaceful and prosperous world, no one would associate him with burning, killing and looting.

Yet, this very person, out of place in this bizarre and chaotic world, rules over a group of outlaws.

Because he's a madman.

A complete madman.

"Alright, you've made enough of a scene, Chairman Xia. The person you asked for has arrived. Now it's time to tell us your purpose, isn't it?" Old Master Lin tapped the ground with his cane, speaking with slight displeasure.

Upon hearing Old Master Lin speak, Xia Ming smiled and put away the half-folded fan in his hand. As his gaze shifted, he deliberately lingered on Su Luo for a few more seconds.

"Grandpa Lin, as everyone can see, the current situation is that ghost money and supplies are the most important things."

"Nowadays, the only way to earn ghost money or obtain material rewards is through those bizarre dungeons. The higher the dungeon's star rating, the richer the rewards. You base commanders should have heard about this, right?"

"I've heard about it." The base commanders remained silent, merely indicating that they knew about it, and that was all.

"That makes things easier. We've received information that there's a copy located 300 miles northeast of the Noah base."

"Three-star dungeon!"

Three hundred miles to the northeast, Su Luo immediately ran through the information in his mind. There was no such marker in the base's database. Could it be a newly appeared instance? Or perhaps Xia Ming's trap?

After all, Xia Ming had done this kind of thing before in his previous life.

A three-star dungeon?!

This news also somewhat shocked the three base commanders.

After all, for a base like theirs, their primary responsibility is to barely protect the continuation of human life. Surviving in this bizarre apocalypse and grinding for loot is not their current main mission.

Most of the available personnel in the base have been deployed for search and rescue operations, leaving few to be sent out to explore the eerie dungeon. It's a three-star dungeon, which is tempting, but only tempting.

The base commanders' reactions were within Xia Ming's expectations. However, based on Su Luo's understanding of Xia Ming, he knew that Xia Ming must have been certain that he would succeed if he brought people to the base.

There must be other conditions that even the base commanders couldn't refuse.

"Of course, there's no need to risk going into a bizarre dungeon right now for a large base like Noah."

"However, behind that dungeon, there is an emergency food depot, which not many people know about and is mostly used as a backup food depot."

"Unfortunately, one of my subordinates happened to be an employee there, and he told me that just a few days before the apocalypse, the granary had received a batch of goods."

"In other words, that little-known granary is full."

Upon hearing this, the base commanders' expressions immediately turned serious.

Yes, a large base can only hold a limited amount of things. If there is no production, the food will only become less and less.

They can deal with the strange dungeon problem after things have settled down a bit, but the granaries they accumulated before the apocalypse are definitely a hotly contested area for all parties in the outside world. If they can take over those granaries, at least they can extend the base's food supply for a while longer.

But here's the problem: to get the granary, you first need to clear a three-star bizarre dungeon.

That's a three-star dungeon, you know. It's like a dragon's den or a tiger's lair, a place where you'd be lucky to escape with your life.

"What are your conditions and requirements?"

"It's so easy to talk to smart people," Xia Ming chuckled, showing his sincerity. "We don't have many people, so we don't need that much grain, and we don't have anywhere to store it. But we can't let my men work for nothing. In the end, we'll split the grain in the granary 70/30."

"As for my request, it's simple. Noah Base is full of talented people, like that woman from earlier. Just a little support will suffice."

That's easy to say, and the request is as good as nothing at all, but Xia Ming is all about gambling.

Betting that these people won't give up the granary, and to be absolutely certain of success, they will definitely deliver their core forces to his doorstep!

...

Three days later.

After discussion among the base leaders, each family decided to send a small team to support the Greedy Wolf Guild. Needless to say, the Lin family sent a team, even though the old master was reluctant, but Lin Shuyu volunteered. To Su Luo's surprise and delight, the Wu family sent none other than Wu Qishan, the same Wu Qishan who had given her such a blatant look at her at the base that day.

Su Luo, who was originally just doing a dungeon run, perked up even more. When she saw Wu Qishan walking towards her, she deliberately put on a weak appearance and said politely, "Captain Wu, you've come too."

"This bizarre dungeon will be entirely thanks to Captain Wu's support."

"That's right, that's right." Wu Qishan nodded repeatedly. He didn't want to come at first, but when he heard that the little beauty who came back with Lin Shuyu was also going, he couldn't resist the urge.
