"Brother Hua, are you serious? Is there really any supply in the provincial capital?"
"Why would I lie to you? What do you have that I would lie to?" came the reply, spoken in a strong regional dialect.
"Do you know what this 'Strange Market Street' is? I'm rich. If I go to the Strange Market Street, all those weirdos and monsters will obediently do my bidding for me, considering the value of the money!"
A mysterious commercial street?
The group of people following behind looked at each other, not quite understanding.
"Speaking of which, the Noah Base mentioned on the radio isn't too far from the provincial capital. Should we go directly to the base instead of the provincial capital?" a seemingly timid girl following behind asked in a low voice.
"Not going to the provincial capital? If you don't go to the provincial capital, are you even going to celebrate the New Year? Are you even going to have a peaceful New Year?!"
"You think that base is all that good stuff? Do you even know how many people those bases have to hold? Look at you, someone like you can survive this long, what about everyone else? With so many people and no outside help, are they just going to sit around and wait for their resources to run out?"
"Do as I said, go straight to the Ghost Market and buy the goods, then find a good place to hide and wait for the apocalypse to end. That's the only way!"
The guy named Hua Zi convinced the others in one go, and although they were unwilling, they could only comply for the time being.
"Brother Hua, have we taken the wrong road?"
"How could I go the wrong way? Before the apocalypse, I often took a car to the provincial capital. This is the road, there's no mistake!" Brother Hua said confidently. Although he had never walked the road himself, he would take a car there every now and then, and even if he had never walked it, he could still remember the direction of the road.
"Look, there seems to be a house up ahead?"
"Brother Hua, are we really going to the provincial capital? Why is there a house here? It looks pretty clean!"
Upon hearing the question from someone in the group, everyone noticed that this area was much cleaner than other places, and even the smell of blood in the air was much fainter.
“Kuo Neng is a survivor just like us,” Hua Ge said, his stomach growling at an inopportune moment. He looked up and saw everyone silently staring at him and his backpack.
He opened his backpack, and inside were only two bottles of water and three biscuits, a drop in the ocean for the group of people in front of him.
Reluctantly putting his backpack back, Hua rubbed his face and took a deep breath. "How about we go check out that family? Maybe they're a good family?"
In this bizarre apocalyptic world, a moment's carelessness could lead to entering some strange dungeon. They had almost fallen into such a trap before, so when they saw this brightly lit place that looked like a trap, they didn't rush in excitedly.
Hearing what Brother Hua said, the group hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
According to Brother Hua, it would take several days and nights to get to the provincial capital. They had only gone halfway. With their meager supplies, they would not only fail to reach the provincial capital, but they might also be wiped out if they went a few more steps!
Since we're going to die anyway, we might as well take a gamble.
The group proceeded cautiously, with the dogs sneaking around in twos and threes, as they approached the cabin. The closer they got, the clearer they could see the scene inside.
"What a beautiful house!" the delicate-looking girl exclaimed in surprise, then adjusted her glasses. "The pink, Lolita princess pink, it has such a dreamy, girly feel."
"It feels like a past life."
After all, they were alive, but crammed into a dark and gloomy warehouse. If they hadn't sold off and eaten everything in the warehouse until it was completely empty, they wouldn't have risked going to the provincial capital.
"Is it just my imagination? I think I can smell the aroma of meat?"
"They're here! I can hear footsteps!"
Behind the huge floor-to-ceiling window, Su Luo, dressed in comfortable loungewear, walked out looking harmless. She was carrying a cup of instant noodles and had a small can of cola in her mouth. Mantou followed at her feet, and she sat comfortably on the beanbag chair in front of the floor-to-ceiling window.
The moment Su Luo put the cup of noodles down, she glanced discreetly at the few living people outside.
We were lucky; six people showed up at once. I just don't know what kind of people they are.
After all, in the apocalypse, even treacherous items are more trustworthy than human character.
Although Su Luo is not afraid of people, he does not want to reveal his trump card so soon.
"It's...a person? It really is a person!"
"What's she holding? Hot pot cup noodles? Mmm, it smells so good." The enticing aroma of the hot pot cup noodles made the group swallow hard, their stomachs growling in protest.
"Brother Hua, what do we do now?"
The other party looks like just a young girl. There are so many of them. If a fight breaks out, it's not that they have no chance of winning. They might even be able to crush the other party.
"What can we do? What else can we do? Since they are human, they are easier to talk to than monsters. As long as we can communicate, it's not a problem."
"Let's go ask if we can get some food. Remember, be polite. We're the ones asking for your help, don't act like we're going to shoot them!"
Hua Ge's words silenced the young man who had asked the question. He gave an awkward laugh and said, "Hua Ge is right. It wasn't easy for that beautiful woman to survive in the apocalypse. Why should humans make things difficult for each other?"
"I mean, come on, everyone follow me closely, I'm going to knock on the door."
'Ding-a-ling, ding-a-ling.'
The doorbell rang. Su Luo looked away, got up and went to the front door. She didn't open the door immediately, but looked at the door with feigned surprise. "Who are you?"
"Hello, sister. We're just passing through. We were on our way to the provincial capital, but we ran out of food along the way." Hua Ge said, taking off his backpack and opening it to show Su Luo what was inside. He then continued.
"We saw your lights were on, so we came to ask if you could give us some food and water. Of course, it's not free; we can buy some!"
