Chapter 79 Camellias in Full Bloom: A Dreamlike Garden

That night, Su Luo felt an itch on her neck while she was asleep. She instinctively raised her hand to scratch it, but her fingers accidentally touched something cold. She was instantly awakened. A magnified face with exaggerated theatrical makeup was close to Su Luo, almost touching her.

Su Luo was below, and the other person was above. One was lying on the bed board, and the other was suspended in mid-air by a rope, right next to Su Luo.

Taking a few deep breaths and forcing herself to calm down quickly, Su Luo carefully turned her head and found that the entire side room was filled with maids and servants with such unique styles, and the two of them were placed close together on the bed board.

This reminded Su Luo of a widely circulated horror story from before the apocalypse: Best Friends, Back to Back.

However, she wasn't considered a good friend to these people, so she could only interact with them face-to-face.

Carefully crawling out from under the hanging bodies of the maids, I found myself in a dark room with no candles, only able to peek at the scenery of the side room by the light of the waning moon overhead.

Everyone was dressed in theatrical costumes, like a theatrical troupe invited by a wealthy family to warm up the audience, but Su Luo recognized a few of the faces.

It was those maids.

I saw it before I went to sleep.

With his ear pressed against the doorframe, he could see that the outside was still completely silent. There were no guests to celebrate, and the atmosphere was cold and devoid of any joyous celebration of a wedding.

After thinking for a moment, Su Luo quietly pushed open the door and walked out of the side room.

She wanted to take the risk and see what this legendary Miss Min was really like.

Besides, sitting idly by and waiting for death is not in her nature. Rather than staying with these things that she doesn't know if they are human or monsters, she would rather go out and have a stroll.

When the old woman led Su Luo into the house today, Su Luo made a point of memorizing the route. The side room was eerily quiet; perhaps the clues were on the other side.

During his exploration, Su Luo discovered that the Min family compound was planted with many camellias. Although it was not the season for camellias to bloom, they were still blooming proudly on the branches, and one by one they fell off the branches. The ground was covered with camellias, and the closer you got to the garden, the more camellias there were!

As Su Luo hurried along the garden corridor, she vaguely heard someone singing in a melodious voice on the lotus platform in the back garden.

As we got closer, we could clearly hear a clear and melodious female voice. The voice was gentle and plaintive, the lyrics were full of emotion and the words were full of pity. It was beautiful to listen to, but I felt that it was inappropriate to sing it on a wedding day.

Su Luo crouched down in the corridor and slowly approached the front of the lotus platform. She looked up slightly and saw that the lotus platform was indeed filled with banquets and various guests. However, without exception, all the guests were life-size paper figures from the funeral parlor.

There were men and women, children and the elderly, some raising their glasses, some listening to music with their eyes closed, and some chatting with each other. The figures were so lifelike and vivid, as if they were alive.

And unsurprisingly, those banquets were also filled with camellias.

Performing a play for a group of paper figures.

Su Luo became increasingly curious and wanted to see what kind of person, or what kind of ghost, was performing on stage, that had such a peculiar hobby.

With a muffled groan, he collapsed to the ground. The performance on stage ended, but the audience lingered. Faintly, Su Luo seemed to hear cheers and applause from the audience.

"Camellia Girl sings beautifully; she truly deserves the title of the best voice in the capital!"

"Miss Camellia, these are your favorite camellias, I brought them all!"

Su Luo looked at the paper figures in surprise as they moved their stiff mouths and praised them word by word. The paper figure that said it had camellia flowers on it stood up, raised its head from its neck, turned it over and held it in its hands. Camellias were buried in its head, filling it completely.

On the stage, the girl named Camellia simply raised her hand to cover her mouth and smiled. She neither accepted nor refused. With a flick of her sleeve, she bowed and took her leave with small steps.

That's it?

Miss Min's wedding banquet is here, and not only is she nowhere to be seen, but everyone's here to listen to music—what's the deal? And where's the groom?

Wait, could that camellia girl be...?

Before Su Luo could figure it out, the characters on stage changed, and a handsome young man walked up. One after another, they took turns performing, drawing cheers from the audience.

In a sudden turn, an elderly man wielding two swords strode forward, exuding an imposing and extraordinary aura. Su Luo didn't understand these things very well, but he still felt that this man's appearance was more like that of a seasoned general about to go into battle.

The play lasted until about four in the morning when the candlelight in the garden suddenly went out, and the opera on the lotus platform fell silent, eerily quiet.

In the darkness, something seemed to rise up rustlingly, tiptoeing through the garden and across the veranda. Several times, Su Luo felt something right in front of her, as if observing her.

I won't listen to the tortoise chanting scriptures, and I won't watch the rooster laying eggs.

A mere four-star monster? Don't forget she still has Brother Brain's skill. If all else fails, she can unleash her ultimate skill and break out while the monsters are in a state of mental confusion and fighting amongst themselves.

At worst, she could just forgo the rewards from the four-star monster dungeon; she wouldn't lose anything anyway. Besides, she had her biggest advantage.

No one can resist the temptation of ghost money, and neither can a ghost. It all depends on what the other party does!

A chilling aura gradually enveloped Su Luo. Just as Su Luo was considering whether to strike first, a low laugh came from inside the lotus platform, instantly dispelling the bone-chilling cold around him.

As the laughter subsided, candlelight flickered in the garden, and a handsome man dressed in a wedding attire and wearing a large corsage appeared on the lotus platform. He clasped his hands in a fist and bowed to Su Luo, saying, "I'm sorry, I startled you, young lady."
