Chapter 1: A Contrast (1/2)

Linhaichengbei District.

The dark and damp urban villages are the only destination for countless migrant workers who have left their homes.

The woman frowned and looked around, her high heels stepping over the puddles on the ground.

The red hip skirt and big golden waves, the unique beauty in the urban village attracted the attention of passers-by.

"What are you looking at! Damn it!"

Chen Yuan would not tolerate these outsiders and she got angry and started cursing at them.

Satisfiedly watching the passers-by who hurried away in embarrassment, she walked into her own rental house and knocked on the door to collect the rent.

In room 302 on the third floor, Chen Yuan banged loudly on the security door and kept chattering.

"You idiot, collect the rent! You called me and pretended to be dead, do you think I'm easy to bully?"

Bang bang bang!

The iron gate made a loud noise, and soon the door of the rental house slowly opened.

In the gloomy and dark room, a man walked out of the darkness, wearing only a pair of large shorts, revealing his muscular upper body. He looked to be in his early twenties, but his expression looked very weathered.

Chen Yuan was startled. She saw glass bottles scattered on the ground out of the corner of her eye. The low aura and smell of alcohol on the man made her feel nauseous.

Old Mu is really something, anyone can rent this house!

She said impatiently, "Fang Ming, right? You've been late with your rent for three days, pay up now!"

Fang Ming felt his mind was in a mess. The light outside the door was too dazzling, which made him stunned for a while.

The alcohol failed to numb his nerves, and the unbearable memories came back to him.

Money... no more money.

How did I end up like this?

Looking back on his miserable first half of life, he even found it a little ridiculous.

When he was in middle school, a car accident took away his father, bringing a devastating blow to his original life.

Looking at his crying and helpless sister, and the faces of a group of relatives who had lost their entire family, the young boy was overwhelmed with sadness and resolutely decided to drop out of school and become a farmer.

He started to lie about his age when he was fifteen. He worked in a black factory that had to work two shifts for ten hours, he worked in a pick-up job that would turn on the red light if Ultraman came, and he also worked the hardest and most tiring job of working steel bars in the field...

Over the years, he has been able to do all kinds of dirty and tiring work. As long as he can earn money to support his sister's schooling, he will grit his teeth and persevere without saying a word.

He finally persevered until his sister went to college, but he was stunned when she said she wanted to study abroad.

Thinking that education must not be neglected no matter how hard it was, he gritted his teeth and borrowed hundreds of thousands of dollars for tuition.

When the money was transferred to his sister's account, he received a message that shocked him.

"I'm tired of the inferiority complex that my family of origin brought me! I'm grown up now, and we have nothing to do with each other in the future."

Disappeared from then on.

Fang Ming looked at his loan of more than one hundred thousand yuan and the text messages from this ungrateful bastard, and seemed to be crying and laughing in the dark rental house, but no one cared.

After three days of drinking, he looked at the landlord who came to ask for rent and said in a low and hoarse voice:

"I don't have money now, give me two days' grace."

Chen Yuan's patience was finally exhausted. She should have been attending the salon with her sisters instead of being caught by her damn mother to argue with this group of scoundrels!

She yelled at the drunkard, "You have no money! How can you rent a house without money?"

"It's already good enough that I didn't raise your rent! How dare you not pay the rent? You want to eat for free, right?"

"You damned outsiders, you do nothing all day and don't work hard. In the end, you can't even pay the rent. How dare you stay here!"

"Go back to the countryside and farm as soon as possible!"

Chen Yuan's cursing was so loud that it even attracted nearby residents to open their doors or look out of windows to watch the fun, and their faces became gloomy as they listened to her.

On the contrary, Fang Ming's face was calm. After years of hard work, he had become indifferent to many ridicules. Or maybe that ungrateful person had given him too much stimulation, so these ridicules were just a small thing for him.
