Chapter 20 Tuan Tuan

Back home, Lin Anran pondered how to stock up on some supplies for the kitten. After all, she had gone to great lengths to bring the kitten over, and she couldn't let it eat spicy hot pot or anything like that with them.

"Ranran, this kitten is so cute! Where did you get it?"

Lin's mother kept petting the kitten in her arms, and the kitten purred comfortably, which made Lin's mother's heart melt.

"I found it when I went outside to check the alarm. It was so cute that I brought it back."

Lin's mother paused in stroking the cat. As expected of her daughter, just like her, this was how she had lured Lin's father back home.

Suddenly, Lin's mother remembered something: "Shouldn't we give it a name? How about Mimi? Benben? Or Penpen?"

Lin Anran wasn't impressed with the name her mother had suggested. After thinking for a while, she said, "Let's call her Tuantuan!"

"Hello Tuantuan! Tuantuan is a homophone for 'reunion,' which means 'reunion,' and our family will always be reunited."

As she spoke, Lin's mother picked up Tuantuan and lifted her high, saying, "Tuantuan? Tuantuan! Tuantuan! From now on, you are a member of our family."

As if understanding, Tuantuan echoed, "Meow~ Meow~ Meow~".

When Lin Yu entered the house, he was greeted by this beautiful scene: his wife and children looking so happy, which warmed his heart.

"Sis! Where did you get this kitten?"

Lin Yu curiously took the kitten, his movements completely familiar.

Their family loved animals, and they had kept both cats and dogs, but they all passed away when they reached a certain age. Because the loss was too heartbreaking, they never kept any more.

"Sister, have you named it yet?"

“He’s here. His name is Tuan Tuan, meaning reunion.”

Lin Yu nodded knowingly and tentatively called out, "Tuantuan?"

Meow~

Tuantuan stared wide-eyed at Lin Yu with curiosity, her eyes sparkling.

"Tuantuan is so intelligent! It can understand when we call it."

Lin's mother said proudly, "That's right, look whose cat it is."

Lin Anran's eyebrows twitched. Her mother was really something. Had the kitten only been in the house for an hour?

Lin's father took Tuantuan from Lin Yu's arms and gently stroked the cat's head. "Tuantuan looks like she's only a little over a month old. She's too thin."

Kittens usually weigh around one pound when they are one month old. When Lin Anran brought her home, she weighed her on a scale and found that she weighed only 0.6 pounds. This broke Lin's heart, and she could only feed her some milk powder for the time being.

Lin's father remembered that there was a large pet store in a small county town that he had driven through before, and now it came in handy: "Let's go buy one for Tuantuan this afternoon. I know where there is a pet park nearby."

Lin Yu gave a thumbs up: "Dad is the best. Let's set off after we finish eating."

Lin's mother and Lin Anran nodded in agreement.

Tuan Tuan: "Meow~"

......

With everything ready, Lin's father drove the family to the petting zoo he remembered.

The month-long heatwave left many people homeless, but now that the temperature has plummeted, everyone has rushed out of their basements and onto the streets, weeping with joy.

The sudden drop in temperature sparked a frenzy among the crowd, and no one mentioned the wicked things they had done before, as if they had been forgotten.

Everything returned to normal, but they had no idea that the sudden drop in temperature meant something unusual.

After thinking for a while, Lin's mother raised a question: "Ranran, there are so many people here. Won't all the zombies gather here?"

Lin Anran looked out onto the street. If she remembered correctly, the residential areas usually had the most zombies, but also the most survivors. Initially, the government reassured the people and prevented them from going out, waiting for government rescue. However, later, they lost contact with all their mobile phones, televisions, and other devices. They waited for two whole months before being rescued one after another.

She replied gently, "Yes! They've all turned into emotionless zombies who only eat people."

Lin Anran's words sent a chill down Lin Yu's spine, and he couldn't help but shudder. "Sis, can you not talk so sinisterly?"

Lin's father looked down on his stupid son's bad behavior, and even while driving, he didn't forget to give Lin Yu, who was in the passenger seat, a slap on the head.

After driving for an hour, they finally caught sight of the petting zoo.

After a month of scorching heat, the pet shop could no longer stay afloat. Seeing people coming out one after another, Lin Anran guessed that they planned to close the pet shop.

She grabbed the person next to her and asked, "Where is your boss? I'd like to discuss a business deal with him."

The person being pulled away frowned. "The pet shop has already closed down. What business are we talking about? Don't bother me while I'm working. I need to go home and reunite with my family."

Seeing the other party's bad attitude, Lin Yu was about to pull another person forward when Lin Anran stopped him with a look.

She took out a pack of Emperor cigarettes from her backpack, and the man's eyes lit up.

He hadn't seen a cigarette in so long; the days without cigarettes felt like years.

The man reached out to take it, but Lin Anran put the cigarette in her pocket.

She looked at the angry man and said, "Take us to the boss, this is yours."

The man quickly suppressed his displeasure, his face crinkling with wrinkles as he led them into the house with a grin.

"Mr. Liu, someone wants to talk business with you."

The man on the sofa looked on in confusion. He was worried about his pet shop going out of business and what he would do next, and now someone was actually trying to talk business with him?!

Looking at the family in front of him, he knew they must be rich. After all, during a month of high temperatures, everyone would look haggard due to lack of food, but this family clearly hadn't suffered, their faces were shiny with oil.

Having made up his mind, he concealed the sinister glint in his eyes and smiled, "Oh, guests are guests, but who's the boss? What business do you want to discuss with me?"
