Lin Mengru has been trapped in the small room for ten days. During these ten days, she has been hiding in the room, tiptoeing around, not daring to make a sound.
I dare not wash my face or feet, I dare not flush the toilet, and I don't even dare to chew my instant noodles loudly.
Lin Mengru no longer cared about her disheveled appearance; all she wanted was to live.
Every day, other survivors have their doors broken down because the zombies accidentally sense their voices.
Some are even because their snoring is too loud.
Hearing the screams coming from other rooms, Lin Mengru couldn't help but shrink into the corner.
"Rat-a-tat-tat!" Here they come! The zombies are coming again!
Lin Mengru listened to the zombie's dragging footsteps outside the door.
There seem to be quite a few zombies today. There's a constant clattering sound outside the door—that's the sound of zombies hunting every morning.
"Tap tap! Tap tap!" The sound was particularly eerie in the empty morning air.
That's strange, why are you here so early today!
The footsteps grew louder as they approached, and Lin Mengru's heart leaped into her throat.
Every morning is when the screams are most frequent.
Suddenly, the footsteps stopped in front of her door, and Lin Mengru felt a rush of blood to her head.
Could they have found her?
Lin Mengru held her breath, clutching the kitchen knife she had found earlier tightly in her hand, silently praying.
Heavenly God, please help me! Please don't let them find me, I don't want to turn into a pile of flesh.
Meanwhile, outside the door, the zombies were attracted by the light shining through the crack in the door from Lin Mengru.
"Bang!" The zombies finally started to break down the door. Although they had almost completely lost their minds, their instinct to hunt for food still made them adhere to the principle of "better to kill the innocent than let the guilty go free".
Lin Mengru was so nervous she almost fainted. Was she really going to die here today?
"Bang bang bang bang!" The zombies' banging on the door grew more urgent and forceful, until the wooden planks of the door were lifted up.
With the strength of a zombie, this door would fall apart in less than ten minutes.
Is this really the last chance to escape? Lin Mengru closed her eyes in despair.
Memories flashed before her eyes: her former glory, the adoration she once enjoyed.
At the shady dance school she attended, out of so many beautiful girls, she wasn't the prettiest, but she certainly had the best luck with men.
She was truly unwilling to accept this fate. She should still be enjoying life. She had so many regrets. She really didn't want to die.
But now, even if she wanted to escape, where could she run to? The corridor outside and downstairs were full of zombies. Unless a miracle happened, she had no way to escape their bites.
No, she would rather die than be bitten by a zombie. It was a zombie death. Lin Mengru looked at the window above her head in despair, her expression resolute.
She'd rather jump out of the window and die than be gnawed to pieces.
"Crack! Splat!" A half-rotten hand reached in.
Lin Mengru also heard the sound of zombies breaking down the door. Her face turned ashen. She had heard too many such sounds lately, and these sounds were often followed by the screams of survivors.
Just when Lin Mengru thought she was doomed, an unexpected turn of events occurred.
Perhaps the gods heard Lin Mengru's prayers, for at that moment, a piercing musical sound suddenly rang out from not far away, along with the sound of something falling to the ground!
The zombies that were tearing down the door were immediately attracted by the noise and pounced towards it.
Three minutes later, Lin Mengru finally recovered from her near-death experience.
She was drenched in cold sweat, and she stood up trembling, feeling completely exhausted.
She leaned against the wall and walked to the door outside, cautiously peeking out. The zombies were gone, thank goodness!
Taking advantage of the zombies being distracted by the sound, Lin Mengru, like a nimble rabbit, quickly picked up the scattered planks and bricks on the ground and hurriedly began to nail the hole that the zombies had just cleaved open.
In the chaos, her hand felt as if it had been struck by a heavy hammer. Her once meticulously maintained nails instantly tore open like fragile flower petals, and blood flowed down her jade-like skin like a flood.
But she didn't care about that, and without even wiping it, she continued nailing the next piece of wood.
Two minutes later, the hole in the door was nailed up.
Lin Mengru finally breathed a sigh of relief, collapsing to the ground in exhaustion.
At that moment, she finally understood why the zombies had found her even though she hadn't made a sound.
It turned out that her computer was still on, and the light from it must have shone through the crack in the door, which is why the zombies noticed it.
The rescue center where Lin Mengru was located had a significant advantage over other besieged high-rise buildings: it had a local area network and dedicated chat software.
Although external communication is largely cut off, communication between different rooms inside the rescue center can still be maintained via computer. Experiences can be shared through information sharing.
Lin Mengru discovered this by accident a few days ago, and she has been busy searching for other survivors ever since.
Yesterday, Lin Mengru attracted the attention of zombies because she forgot to turn off her computer.
Just as Lin Mengru was about to turn off the computer, it suddenly lit up again.
There seems to be some information. Could it be other survivors?
Lin Mengru unlocked the screen out of curiosity.
When Yi Ye Zhi Qiu invited her to join the chat group, other survivors actually contacted her.
