Lin Mengru collapsed to the ground, staring at Liu Peng with disbelief, but she never expected that this man's ruthlessness was even greater than Li Churan's.
Not only did he not protect her, but he also wanted her to be cannon fodder and attract zombies for him. He's a complete scoundrel.
"Liu Peng, you bitch!" Lin Mengru clutched her ribs, which were throbbing from being kicked.
"I'm so sorry, my little Mengru, I had no choice! I'll definitely come to save you as soon as Canglan's powers are restored!"
The moment the zombies broke down the door, Liu Peng had already decided to kick Lin Mengru out to distract them. Although he didn't know how long this would hold them off, it at least increased his chances of survival. As the saying goes, "If a man doesn't look out for himself, he'll be doomed." At this critical moment, only he himself was the most important.
Lin Mengru looked at Liu Peng with disdain.
Bah! Once Canglan's powers are restored, will I still need you to save me?
Why do I always run into scumbags and jerks? It's so awful.
The door slammed shut.
Lin Mengru never expected that she had come here seeking refuge, only to find herself walking into the lion's den.
But she had no time to complain now, because the zombies were already rushing towards her.
It must be said that when people are in dire straits, their potential is limitless.
Ignoring the ribs that Liu Peng had just kicked, Lin Mengru quickly rolled on the spot, dodging the zombie's first attack.
Then, with lightning speed, she climbed up the ventilation duct along the table. As the ventilation duct entrance closed, she finally escaped the zombies for a brief time.
"What should we do now?" Liu Peng definitely couldn't go back, so he decided to climb along the ventilation duct to see if he could reach another safe room.
Lin Mengru climbed forward along the ventilation duct.
The ventilation duct was very narrow, but luckily Lin Mengru was petite, otherwise she would have really gotten stuck inside.
Even so, she still found it very difficult to move forward. Finally, light appeared ahead, and she reached another ventilation shaft.
Lin Mengru carefully climbed over and looked down through the ventilation opening.
But what she saw was blood everywhere, and several zombies gnawing on severed limbs in the room.
From Lin Mengru's position, she could clearly see the pale yellow fat and bright red muscle on the torn thigh, which a zombie was devouring with relish.
"Ugh!" Lin Mengru almost vomited, but she immediately covered her mouth, afraid of attracting the attention of the zombies.
It seemed she couldn't go down into this vent, so she continued crawling forward with difficulty.
Suddenly, she saw a dark figure ahead.
Good heavens, it's a rat!
Those damn zombies, they eat everything, yet we couldn't eliminate them.
Lin Mengru has been terrified of mice since she was a child, but now she is stuck in the ventilation shaft and can't move.
The huge, dark rat calmly sized up Lin Mengru, showing absolutely no fear of people.
"Get out of here!" Lin Mengru whispered, but it had no effect whatsoever.
The mouse wasn't scared at all; instead, it ran towards Lin Mengru.
"Get out! Get out of here!" Lin Mengru stretched out her arms and kept swatting at the rat, but it still ran straight towards her.
Lin Mengru struggled to control herself and prevented herself from screaming.
She watched helplessly as the mouse drew closer and closer to her, until it finally stood right in front of her.
Then he leaped over her head and went to the other side without looking back.
It took Lin Mengru three minutes to recover from that terrifying moment.
She steadied herself and continued crawling forward in a disheveled state, the spot she had just crawled over already soaked.
Lin Mengru crawled through the ventilation duct for more than half an hour. During that time, she also encountered the stares of zombies. Fortunately, although the zombies seemed to have noticed her, they did not chase after her.
About 40 minutes later, as she passed a vent, she suddenly felt a chill below.
She realized that Canglan had released his powers again.
She carefully opened the vent, looked around, and found no danger. So she decisively jumped down from the vent.
She jumped down into an empty room, completely bare.
Lin Mengru trembled as she opened the door to the room. The corridor was like hell, filled with grotesque zombies and scattered, broken corpses on the ground.
The zombie's blood emitted a strong, sweet, putrid stench, as if it were the aura of death wafting from the deepest hell. Under this intense stimulation, anyone's stomach would involuntarily convulse as if gripped tightly by an invisible hand.
Lin Mengru forced herself to remain calm as she walked through the frozen, immobilized zombies.
The zombies were packed tightly together in the corridor, and she had to practically walk through them face to face.
Although the zombies were frozen and unable to move, they had not completely lost consciousness. They stared fiercely at Lin Mengru, wishing they could bite her to death in one bite.
Lin Mengru quickly sped up and continued traversing the zombie forest. After three minutes of walking, she finally saw a familiar door.
That was the office where she and Li Jin used to live.
She pushed open the door, wandered around in circles, and finally returned to this familiar place. If she had known, she would have been better off staying here earlier and avoiding all this suffering.
She had just closed the door when she heard a voice coming from the walkie-talkie left in the room: "The zombies have lost their ability to move. Everyone, quickly clear the zombies in the hallway!"
The next second, all the rooms with survivors opened their doors, and the counterattack against the zombies finally began again.
Lin Mengru didn't care about any of that; she was starving. If it weren't for her survival instinct, she wouldn't have been able to hold on for so long.
She rushed back to her room, grabbed the food she had hidden, and frantically stuffed it into her mouth, wishing she could eat an entire elephant in one bite.
She used to be someone who would say she was full after only three bites in front of men, all to maintain her image. But now she doesn't care about her image anymore.
She wolfed down her food, choking so hard that tears and snot streamed down her face.
Compared to Liu Peng, she suddenly felt that Li Jin was quite loyal and righteous, at least he left her so much food before he left.
Five minutes later, Lin Mengru finally finished eating and carefully hid the remaining food in a small, concealed cabinet.
This was a hidden compartment that Li Jin had specially set up to hide things, but it was later discovered by Lin Mengru.
After she had eaten and drunk her fill, she realized that the hem of her skirt was already soaking wet.
It turned out that she had wet herself in fright while fighting with the rat.
She quickly changed into clean clothes and felt much more comfortable. In just a few short hours, she felt like she had shed another layer of skin. When would this end?
