"Hold on tight! They're coming soon!"
"I can't take it anymore, I really can't hold on any longer!"
Just as the zombies were about to completely destroy the rooftop door, they arrived.
The helicopter finally came to a stop.
Amidst everyone's anticipation, the hatch slowly opened.
A beautiful woman with long chestnut-brown curly hair, wearing a windbreaker and looking dashing, jumped off the helicopter, holding a machine gun, and waved to them.
"Hurry up! Quickly!"
The people on the rooftop were both surprised and delighted, and they rushed towards the helicopter in a frenzy.
Only the young man in the shirt remained rational; he stood still, trying to maintain order.
"Don't rush, go up one by one, and don't let go of all the people blocking the zombies."
Driven by the instinct for survival, no one listened to him; they all rushed forward in a swarm, afraid of falling behind and missing out.
"Let's go! Let's move forward quickly!"
"Don't stop us!"
The already dilapidated door was finally breached by the zombies after everyone let go.
The hungry zombies charged forward like madmen, lunging at the nearest person.
Soon, screams of agony rose and fell.
"You should go up too!" Ye Ning urged the young man in the shirt.
"But what about you?" he asked Ye Ning instinctively.
"I'm fine! Because I have this!" Ye Ning waved the gun in her hand.
He opened fire wildly on the nearest zombie.
"Alright then!" Seeing this, the young man in the shirt quickly ran onto the helicopter as well.
Seeing that all the survivors had already gone up, Ye Ning also began to retreat step by step.
The number of zombies increased like a tide, almost completely surrounding Ye Ning.
"Ye Ning, come up quickly," Xiao Jingchen called out.
“Okay! There are quite a few zombies!” Ye Ning replied while dealing with the situation.
"Ye Ning, quickly squat down!" Xiao Jingchen said.
"Okay!" Although she didn't know what the purpose was, Ye Ning obediently squatted down.
The next second, the laser sword's edge flashed across the hatch like an arc of electricity, instantly decapitating all the zombies within a meter of Ye Ning.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Ye Ning quickly ran backward and finally reached the cabin door.
But the crazed zombies quickly caught up again, just as one of the zombies' fingers was about to touch Ye Ning's clothes.
"Absolute Domain!" Xiao Jingchen activated his Absolute Domain.
The instant the Absolute Domain unfolded, all the zombies it touched collapsed to the ground.
Ye Ning grabbed Xiao Jingchen's hand and finally jumped into the hatch without incident.
"Alright! Close the door!" Ye Ning said breathlessly. Although she knew that Jing Chen was here and she wouldn't be in danger, it had just been extremely dangerous.
The cabin door closed smoothly.
With a sputtering sound from the propellers, the helicopter started up.
The unwilling zombies continued their frantic pursuit, but they all fell off the fence and crashed to the ground, turning into a bloody pulp.
The survivors, who had been rescued and put on the helicopter, looked around the cabin with curiosity. Only now did they begin to recover from their relief at surviving the ordeal.
"Thank you!" The young man in the shirt was the first to speak to Ye Ning. "If it weren't for you, none of us would have survived today."
"Alright! You're all safe now!" Ye Ning patted the head of the child closest to her reassuringly.
Ye Ning's words touched a nerve with them.
What followed was a chorus of sobs, which then escalated into loud wailing.
Such a long time of living in fear, such a long time of enduring hunger.
Today, at the critical moment of life and death, someone finally descended from the sky and rescued them from their dire straits.
It's safe!
We're safe now!
These words were like the radiance of a saint, bringing tears to their eyes.
Looking at their sobbing faces, Ye Ning thought of herself. In her past life, weren't she and Jing Chen just like them, struggling desperately for survival?
"Ye Ning, shall we head back first?" Xiao Jingchen put on his helmet.
"Let's get them to the base and settle them in first!" The entire cabin is already packed full, and there probably won't be any room for anyone else.
“Okay!” Xiao Jingchen replied succinctly.
The helicopter changed direction again and sped towards the base.
"By the way! Were you sent by the Federation to rescue us?" an elderly man of about 50 years old asked expectantly.
Ye Ning shook her head.
"And who are you?" the old man asked with some confusion, while the others also cast curious glances his way.
"My name is Ye Ning. I set up a base around here. I just happened to pass by and saw you calling for help, so I flew over." Of course, she wouldn't be stupid enough to say that she came here specifically to recruit people.
"Oh!" The old man looked disappointed. If they weren't sent by the Federation, what would they do now? Would they continue to receive rescues?
Ye Ning secretly observed the changes in their expressions and saw that they all showed signs of unease, which gave her a sense of what was going on.
"So where are we going now?" Liang Kangding, the young man in the shirt, pushed up his glasses and asked.
"I'll take you to our base to settle in for a couple of days first!" Ye Ning replied crisply.
Hearing that they weren't just being left anywhere, everyone's expressions calmed down. A base? What kind of base?
It should be at least better than them fighting alone!
Most people identified with a small armed group.
The helicopter soared through the sky, and 30 minutes later, we finally arrived at the base.
The helicopter slowly landed on the helipad, the very helipad that Ye Ning had Gao Fei and the others build.
Without this helipad, they would have to land on the open ground outside the base, which would easily attract a large number of zombies.
"The helicopter has stopped!" After days of tension, many survivors were now suddenly safe and drowsy on the helicopter.
Hearing the helicopter stop, they snapped out of their daze and rushed to the windows to look outside.
What did they see? They saw that everyone in the base was dressed in proper clothes.
Although they were in a hurry, there was no panic in their expressions, and their faces were not pale or emaciated.
"Alright, we've arrived! Everyone, please come down with me!" After the helicopter came to a stop, Ye Ning lowered the cabin door.
The survivors followed Ye Ning with some trepidation, unsure of what kind of treatment they would receive.
But no matter what, it's better than becoming a feast for zombies.
"Uncle Gao!" Gao Feng, who had heard the roar of the helicopter, had already arrived at the helipad to wait.
"Miss! You've finally arrived!" Gao Feng was also very excited to see Ye Ning.
