After yet another high-level meeting at Xinyuan Group, Zhou Haiyuan walked out of the conference room with a livid face.
Zhou Haiji, on the other hand, was riding high. He swaggered behind Zhou Haiyuan, surrounded by several old men. He had gotten the better of him in the meeting, so he was naturally extremely arrogant.
"Second brother, wait a minute!" he said smugly.
"What? Is something wrong?" Zhou Haiyuan tried his best to suppress his anger.
Recently, due to problems at the coastal fishing grounds, he was repeatedly humiliated by the old man in meetings, who called him useless and unable to handle even such a small matter.
"You can't even handle this little thing. Don't tell anyone you're my son, Zhou Guichuan. You're utterly useless."
Zhou Haiji, taking advantage of the situation, seized even more power from Zhou Haiyuan.
"It's nothing! I just noticed you seemed a bit down, so I wanted to offer you some words of comfort."
Zhou Haiyuan didn't believe Zhou Haiji had such a kind heart. Nothing good ever came out of his dog mouth.
"I have some things to attend to. Let's talk about it another day!" Zhou Haiyuan refused directly and continued walking forward. He didn't have time to listen to Zhou Haiji's sarcastic remarks. Now that the old man wasn't here, he didn't need to pretend to be a brother.
Zhou Haiji gave a wink, and the two old men beside him quickly stepped forward to block Zhou Haiyuan.
"Haiyuan, don't be in such a hurry to leave! Look, even the Third Young Master has called you, wanting to get to know you better. Don't be so unapproachable!" The two old men said in unison. They were both elders of the Zhou family, and although they didn't have much power, they were still senior members.
Zhou Haiyuan was so angry that he wanted to smash the teeth of those two old men. Did they really think he could never get back up after he had only lost power temporarily?
But reason prevailed and brought him back to his senses. The old man had been very wary of him lately, so it was best for him to keep a low profile.
"I'm busy right now, Third Brother. Let's chat another time when I'm free!" Zhou Haiyuan pushed Zhou Haiji away and walked straight ahead.
"Second Brother, I only need to say a few words." Zhou Haiyuan continued to stop Zhou Haiyuan.
Zhou Haiyuan ignored him and walked away.
“A bastard is a bastard. Even if he wears a golden coat, he’s still a scoundrel at heart.” Zhou Haiji’s face was full of bitterness and sarcasm.
“You…” Zhou Haiyuan clenched his fists. He really wanted to punch Zhou Haiji in the face and smash this despicable bastard into a big pig’s head.
"Second brother, don't be so angry! I was just saying it casually, I didn't say who it was, why are you so angry?" Zhou Haiji had never respected his second brother; in his heart, he was nothing more than a bastard.
Zhou Haiyuan rolled his eyes impatiently and walked all the way to his room before stopping. His subordinates tried to open the door for him, but he kicked them, sending them crashing into the door and spitting out a mouthful of blood.
"You're so blind! Did I ask you to open the door for me? Who told you to meddle? Get out, all of you get out!" He was just looking for a place to vent his anger when this guy had to walk right into his life. He deserved his bad luck.
"Yes, yes! Second Young Master, it's all my fault, I'll leave right away!" The man who was hit looked at his front tooth on the ground, on the verge of tears.
Zhou Haiyuan pushed open the door, only to see an uninvited guest, Qi Ke'er.
"Haiyuan, you're finally back! I've been waiting for you here for ages!" Qi Ke'er said with a hint of reproach. She was wearing a loose-fitting purple velvet dress, and her belly was already noticeably protruding.
"Why did you suddenly come? Why are you getting bolder and bolder lately?" Zhou Haiyuan's attitude was noticeably colder.
"I know, but I just miss you so much! I want to see you!" Perhaps because of her pregnancy, Qi Ke'er has recently become a bit emotional.
"How come you're getting more and more careless? Coming here in broad daylight, aren't you afraid of being discovered?" Zhou Haiyuan was also in a bad mood. Seeing that Qi Ke'er wasn't doing what he told her to do, he asked her in a rude tone.
"I know I was wrong!" Qi Ke'er quickly apologized when she saw that Zhou Haiyuan's expression was somewhat unfriendly.
"Haiyuan, what's wrong? Did the old man upset you again?" Qi Ke'er asked caringly.
"The old man is still the same as before, but it's that third son who's getting more and more arrogant," Zhou Haiyuan said, his voice filled with anger.
"What's wrong with the third brother again?" Qi Ke'er asked quickly, and handed Zhou Haiyuan a cup of hot water. "Alright! Alright, calm down first."
"That third brother, relying on the old man's favor, is increasingly disregarding me, and the old man actually gave him Warehouse No. 1."
Warehouse No. 1 is the place with the most supplies. Even before the extreme cold began, Zhou Guichuan, who had received the news, had already started transporting supplies into it. Now, Warehouse No. 1 has actually been given to Zhou Haiji.
The more Zhou Haiyuan thought about it, the more indignant he became, and his eyes even reddened. In fact, compared to fighting for power and profit, he cared more about his father's approval.
"What do I lack compared to that good-for-nothing playboy? I've worked tirelessly and like a slave in the company for so many years. Is it because I was born to another woman that he treats us differently?"
He felt that no matter how hard he tried, the old man's heart only belonged to the third son.
"Actually, I think the old man might not genuinely value the third son. He's just getting old and he's afraid you'll take power from him, so he's instigating infighting among you, afraid that you'll become too powerful," Qi Ke'er analyzed. She was always by Zhou Guichuan's side, so she understood him better than Zhou Haiyuan.
In fact, Zhou Guichuan is an extremely selfish person. He doesn't trust anyone at all, including his own son.
He only wanted to hold all the power firmly in his own hands until the moment he died.
"Is that so?" Zhou Haiyuan asked, half believing and half doubting.
“Of course that’s how it is!” Qi Ke’er pulled Zhou Haiyuan to sit next to her. “Think about it, with the old man’s shrewdness, how could he not know that Zhou Haiji is a good-for-nothing? But why did he still promote him? Wasn’t it to divide the power in your hands?”
It has to be said that Qi Ke'er is truly a talented person; she is not only beautiful but also exceptionally intelligent.
