Chapter 218 A Divine Rescue

Lin Mengru had been in the ventilation duct for almost 15 hours. Except for when Canglan released his superpowers, she could come out and move around for a while. Otherwise, she had been curled up in the narrow ventilation duct.

Not only does she have to endure the pain of numbness in her hands and feet, but she also frequently encounters rats and cockroaches crawling around her.

Fortunately, her estimation was correct. The zombies did not notice her in the ventilation duct, or rather, they categorized her with rats and cockroaches, so they disdained to attack her.

What she worries about most is how many more days this will continue.

Before the zombies went berserk, Canglan and the others would try to get some food from the warehouse every day and share some with each of them.

Right now, she's living entirely off her previous food supplies, and if this continues, the food will soon run out.

Meanwhile, the others on this side also began to look for other ways to survive, and among them were many people with supernatural abilities.

Even so, the number of people in the rescue center is rapidly decreasing.

After witnessing Lin Mengru climb onto the ventilation duct through a crack in the bathroom, Liu Peng also climbed onto the ventilation duct.

However, unlike Lin Mengru, he was not a slender person. He filled the entire pipe to the brim, making it almost impossible for him to move.

Canglan is also struggling to persevere, as the continuous use of his superpowers is taking a heavy toll on him.

But he dares not stop now.

Compared to the predicament at the rescue center, Xinyuan Group and Ye Ning were much more at ease.

Although there were no ice-type ability users, Ye Ning's side had a constant barrage of firepower, all thanks to the weapons they had previously looted from the Xinyuan Group's warehouse.

Moreover, Ye Ning had already prepared a double electric fence, and with the addition of small armored vehicles, the shelter was becoming increasingly adept at dealing with zombies.

After becoming increasingly adept at handling the situation at the shelter, Ye Ning and Xiao Jingchen began their next plan: to rescue the survivors.

"Miss, Young Master Jingchen, are you really going out?" Wang Ma asked, pulling Ye Ning's hand to dissuade her.

"Alright, Aunt Wang, stop talking. Now is the best opportunity. Jingchen and I will be fine," Ye Ning comforted her.

Those who have survived are mostly people with special abilities or special skills.

In such a critical moment, she and Xiao Jingchen descended from the sky and saved them from dire straits. Anyone would be grateful, so recruiting them would be a natural thing to do.

Moreover, because of its randomness, it is not easy for people from Xinyuan Group to infiltrate.

Therefore, both emotionally and rationally, now is the best opportunity.

"Ye Ning, let's go!" Xiao Jingchen had already boarded the helicopter.

"Okay!" Ye Ning waved to Wang Ma and then boarded the helicopter.

"Ye Ning, which stop should we go to first?" Xiao Jingchen asked as he started the helicopter.

"Let's go to the Ye family's old house first!" The Ye family's old house was where she and Jing Chen started, so no matter what, they should start there.

"Okay!" Xiao Jingchen turned the helicopter around and flew towards the Ye family's old residence.

The helicopter flew smoothly through the clouds, and from the sky, one could see swarms of zombies everywhere.

"Jingchen, look over there." Ye Ning suddenly pointed in a northwest direction.

On a dilapidated skyscraper, a dozen people were frantically waving at them, trying to get their attention.

"Help! Help! Stop it right now!"

"Help!"

"Please help us!"

The leader was a young man around 28 years old. He was wearing a slightly wrinkled shirt, had a stubble beard, and looked somewhat haggard.

“Simply shouting like that won’t do any good!” he said calmly.

"Then what do you suggest we do?" asked another man who looked quite burly.

"Does anyone have a lighter?" the young man in the shirt asked.

“I have one!” A man pulled out a lighter he was carrying.

“Okay! Now take off your coat.” He pointed to the man next to him who was wearing a jacket.

"Why am I me?" the man in the jacket asked, somewhat displeased.

"No reason why? Who else is wearing a coat except you?" he said impatiently.

This caused the sound of zombies scratching to come from the rooftop door behind them.

This door won't last long; they have to hurry.

"Hurry up!"

The man in the jacket reluctantly took it off.

The young man in the shirt snatched the jacket, set it on fire, and frantically waved it at the helicopter.

The jacket emitted thick black smoke as it was engulfed by the flames.

"Will this really work?" Everyone's heart was in their throat.

“A useful thing will definitely be useful!” the man in the shirt said confidently.

But in reality, even he himself wasn't sure.

"The helicopter is coming! But it's coming from our direction!" Everyone cheered.

Their cheers lasted less than three seconds before the sound of zombies breaking down a door came from behind them.

Sure enough, the door couldn't hold for long.

"Everyone, hurry! We must block the door! We absolutely cannot let the zombies in! Once the helicopter arrives, we'll be saved!"

Seeing this, everyone sprang into action, frantically using whatever they could find on the rooftop to block the door and prevent the zombies from getting in.

Because they knew that once the zombies broke through the door, death would be their only fate.

"Keep going! Hang in there, everyone!"

"Strange, why haven't we heard the helicopter again? By the way, where did the helicopter go?"

"Could it be that the helicopter didn't see us and just left?" In that instant, everyone's face showed despair.

Is there really no other way?

With this loss of spirit, even the zombies behind him were starting to falter.

"Don't let go, everyone! There must be other ways. We've persevered for so long, we can't give up now!" The young man in the lead was still encouraging them.

But once you lose heart, how easy is it to get back to your previous state? In just a moment, you've already crumbled!

Just as the gate was about to be breached by zombies, two people suddenly heard the sound of a helicopter.

"Listen, it sounds like a helicopter!"

"I didn't hear that, you must have misheard."

"It really is! Listen carefully!"

Three seconds later, everyone heard the sound of a helicopter approaching from afar.

It turns out the helicopter had circled around and came from another direction.

"The helicopter is here! Someone's coming to rescue us! Everyone, don't give up!"
