Canglan had just finished her work and returned to her residence when she heard a series of loud bangs coming from inside, clearly indicating that something had been smashed again.
He pushed open the door without changing his expression, clearly having long been accustomed to all of this.
Luo Jiaqi was hysterically smashing things.
Upon seeing Canglan return, she couldn't help but show a frightened expression, and then shrank into the corner.
With a gentle expression, Canglan picked up a broom and swept up all the broken glass shards on the ground.
"Don't break the cup next time. Broken glass can easily cut your feet on the ground." He carefully examined Luo Jiaqi's bare feet and found that there was already a cut on them.
He took out iodine and cotton wool from the cabinet and carefully treated her wound.
"Jiaqi, have you eaten?" he asked gently.
Luo Jiaqi subconsciously shook her head, her dark complexion as blank as a mannequin.
After the wound was treated, Canglan withdrew his hand. The two remained silent, the atmosphere heavy and oppressive, like a sealed tomb.
"Sigh!" Canglan suddenly let out a long sigh. "Jiaqi, are you really so unable to forget him? Come with me for a walk!"
"Really?" Luo Jiaqi replied incredulously, her eyes suddenly lighting up.
Canglan nodded.
In fact, this period of time has been torture for him as well; perhaps it's time to let go.
Canglan carefully draped a coat over her shoulders and gently took Luo Jiaqi's hand, just like when they strolled on the school's playground during their university days.
As soon as she opened the door, Luo Jiaqi felt a refreshing, pungent breeze rush towards her.
She felt herself become fully awake; she had been feeling drowsy for some time, and the cold air finally brought her back to reality.
Canglan took her hand and they strolled slowly along the dormitory building, their snow boots crunching on the snow.
Luo Jiaqi simply lowered her head and remained silent.
Before they knew it, they had reached the outer perimeter of the base.
Canglan stopped.
"Jiaqi, you should go!" Canglan suddenly released Luo Jiaqi's hand.
"Huh?" Luo Jiaqi looked at him with a puzzled expression.
"Hurry up, before I regret it!" Canglan said in a low, urgent voice, his tone filled with suppressed struggle.
Luo Jiaqi couldn't believe that Canglan had let her go so easily, and she jogged towards the big iron gate.
But as she walked, her pace slowed. She felt a biting cold, and even breathing was painful. She suddenly realized that the outside world wasn't so wonderful after all. If she left here, where could she go? How could she survive?
As she passed the large iron gate and saw the broken walls and ruins outside, her heart began to tremble violently.
She stood still in front of the door, looking out again and again, before finally turning around in despair and taking heavy steps back the way she came.
After turning a corner, Luo Jiaqi froze in place, because she found Canglan standing there.
Seeing her approach, he was not surprised at all. Instead, he calmly walked up to her and took her hand.
"Are you cold? Let's go back first!" It turned out that he already knew that even if he let go, Luo Jiaqi would never escape his grasp.
Some people are just meant to be canaries, but she insists on tirelessly fluttering around in her cage, even though she knows it's all in vain.
She was too weak; even with the cage door open, she still didn't have the courage to leave.
