23. Chapter 23: A cry for help

Chapter 23 A cry for help

Selena's father is another director of the school and has a lot of say. Besides, she is usually kind and approachable, unlike Anna who is arrogant, so everyone respects her.

Serena glanced at her teammate's phone and felt a little uneasy.

She tried to be calm and said, "I agree with Michael's decision. The school is in chaos right now, and the safest option is to try to leave here."

Anna naturally disagreed and retorted: "If you want to leave, you can leave. If you don't want to leave, you have to stay with me."

As soon as these words were spoken, the air became quiet, and the crowd gradually divided into two camps.

Some people chose to follow Anna for the sake of credits, while others hesitated, feeling a little scared by the chaos in the video, and chose to support Serena.

Selena and Michael led everyone away from the tennis court. To prevent any accidents, everyone took a baseball bat from the equipment room.

Some people were preparing to go to the school parking lot, which was just west of the stadium and very close to the west gate, but it was a distance away from the stadium and required going around the library and a teaching building.

Michael disagreed. "We don't know where the boy in the infirmary was sent from. What if it was the library or teaching building? Would he bite other people? Are these places still safe?"

Selena checked her phone, intending to check the group, but found that the cell phone signal was very weak. She opened the backup offline map and found a hidden route.

"There's a hidden path from the tennis court to the nearby west gate, but it passes by the back door of the cafeteria. On weekdays, only food waste is taken out there. We can take that path."

"As for the car, I just sent a message to the driver, asking him to meet me at the west gate of the school immediately. If everything goes well, we can leave the school from there."

A thin girl said, "Okay, I believe you, Serena."

The other three had no objections. Michael just frowned and said nothing.

So the five of them walked along the green belt on the side of the road and headed towards the back door of the cafeteria.

However, they heard almost no sound along the way, and the entire campus seemed unusually quiet.

The message in the campus group is still stuck at 5 minutes ago. It seems that the school’s signal tower is broken.

Everyone was in a very heavy mood.

The journey to the cafeteria was smooth until she passed the back door. Selena saw the car that was used to collect leftover food parked by the door. The door was opened and there seemed to be signs of being torn.

In an instant, Selena's heart began to beat rapidly. She subconsciously looked at the half-open door of the school kitchen and saw a pair of footprints coming out from inside.

The moment the person in the darkness walked out, Selina's heart beat as fast as it could. She heard herself shouting at the top of her lungs, "Run!"

As soon as he finished speaking, three people came out from the kitchen door. They were the canteen chef, the helper and the worker who usually delivered goods.

Their faces were weird and exaggerated, with blood all over their bodies and faces. The delivery worker, in particular, had a big bite hole on his face, which made him look extremely scary.

The five people on the trail reacted immediately. They were originally afraid of making noise, but now they ran desperately.

"What's going on? Are they still human?" someone couldn't help but ask.

Michael was running the fastest. He looked back and replied, "It's definitely not a human. Have you ever seen a cook run a hundred meters with his intestines missing?"

Everyone was running out of breath, including Selina, but the three zombies chasing behind did not seem to be tired at all, and even had a tendency to catch up with the last person in their team. No one dared to let down their guard and ran desperately.

Fortunately, they didn't encounter any other strange things along the way.

Serena was running second and encouraged the skinny girl who was at the end, "There's a small gate leading to the west gate up ahead. As long as we put down the fence to stop them, we'll be safe."

But an accident occurred when passing through the small door.

The last girl tripped and fell to the ground. The boy closest to her wanted to pull her up, but the zombie closest to the small door had already pounced on her.

"careful!"

Unexpectedly, Serena, who had run a few steps away, came back. She picked up the baseball bat in her hand and swung it hard with a determined expression, just like she did during training.

With a "pop", half of the fat chef's face was smashed, but he didn't seem to feel any pain. Instead, he was enraged by Selina and pounced on her fiercely.

At this time, Michael also ran back to help. He was tall and strong, and with a flying kick, he kicked the zombie back behind the small door.

“Close the door!”

Seeing this, another boy reacted and pushed the fence to block the two zombies behind.

The girl who fell to the ground was also helped up. She was startled and felt like she had survived a disaster. She thanked Selina, "Thank you very much."

The west gate is relatively remote and few people come here, but this place is within the range of another signal tower, and the five people's cell phones started ringing like buzzers.

Messages popped up in the group chat, with people continuously posting videos of people biting people. The videos were about classrooms, corridors, stairs, cafeterias, research halls, gymnasiums, and even independent apartments.

Almost as soon as they passed the road behind the cafeteria, everything had fallen.

At this time, everyone was glad that no one chose to go through the teaching building and library to the parking lot. According to the group, that area had already been completely occupied.

Finally, the time in the group stopped at a certain time and was no longer updated.

Everyone's heart sank.

Is this school completely ruined?

So what about outside? Is it the same?

At this moment, Serena's driver called her and said, "Miss, I saw your message. Protect yourself. I'll be there soon."

Selena finally breathed a sigh of relief, but from what the driver said, it seemed that it was not safe over there either.

Half an hour later, the driver did not arrive as promised, and Selena had a bad feeling.

Outside the west gate of the school is a logistics storage factory area. Only large delivery trucks come there, so you might be able to get a car there.

Michael also has this plan.

After discussion, they decided that three boys would go, and Selena would take care of the injured girl, and then come back to pick up the two after they got the vehicle.

Just then, they saw a black SUV approaching from a distance.

Michael's face lit up with joy, and he immediately ran to the road with the two boys to call for help. He waved his baseball uniform and said, "Save us, we need help!"

Inside the SUV, Su You was planning a route to take a detour to a nice restaurant to pick up takeout.

As a result, Amber suddenly slammed on the brakes.

After the car stopped, she noticed that there were two boys in baseball uniforms standing on the road, and one had taken off his clothes and was waving for help.

"What's going on?"

Su You saw the uneasiness on their faces.

Amber also frowned. "I don't know. Could he be high? Sister You, should we get off the car and take a look?"
