Chapter 28 Bandages

Chapter 28 Bandages

The spacetime rift is located in a well-hidden spot, on the second floor of a coffee shop in the quarantine zone where Space Station 1 is located.

While searching for supplies, Meili accidentally found the key to the iron gate at the top of the stairs on the second floor. After opening the door and going up to the second floor, she unexpectedly discovered this dungeon.

"We went in and explored the area near the teleportation point. Further inside, there were body sacs, but it was too late, so we came back first."

"Everyone should be careful then, safety first."

"If there are too many zombies, remember not to run around. It's even more dangerous if you get scattered."

Jiang Baiyue glanced at the iron gate, which had been hacked and punched, indicating that someone had tried to break it down.

The glass on the second floor of the coffee shop was broken, and weeds grew on the corners of the long-abandoned second-floor walls. There were dried bloodstains on the tables and the floor, and the walls were mottled.

The spacetime rift is located in the corner of the second-floor wall, with flashes of light appearing and disappearing around the dark rift.

The sunflower was the first to step into the crack, and as soon as people approached, her figure disappeared.

Jiang Baiyue went in second, followed by the mercenaries, and then the others followed immediately.

The light inside the crack was very dim, and everyone's field of vision was only about 1 meter.

However, Sunflower and the others had come in beforehand, so they had prepared torches. Jiang Baiyue, having played the game, had also prepared a lighting tool—a flashlight.

Sunflower handed Jiang Baiyue a torch: "Take one. Flashlights consume a lot of power, and it's hard to replenish them. Keep one as a backup."

Jiang Baiyue took the torch and carefully observed her surroundings.

Apart from the ground beneath their feet, the surroundings were pitch black. They tried to probe the ground with the bottom of their torches, and there was no obstruction, but they couldn't get through or step onto the path beneath their feet.

An unknown sound came from afar, sending chills down everyone's spines and making them feel a moment of dread.

After walking along a winding path, human bones and animal bones began to appear on the ground, some intact and some broken.

Occasionally, you can see dark, withered trees. Every day, Xia would chop them with a wooden axe and they would break, yielding two pieces of wood.

The group of six had their own tacit understanding. In addition to using some of the backpack compartments to store food, water and medicine, they also allocated the other compartments to store materials, in order to make the most of their backpacks to carry as many supplies as possible.

Basic materials like wood, weeds, and stones are collected by Tian Tian Xiang Xia Zhuang, so she tries to collect any materials she sees, such as wood.

Jiang Baiyue also considered the backpack's layout and ultimately decided that, apart from coins, rare materials, or materials that she didn't yet have, the other backpack compartments would mainly be used to carry food, water, medicine, and spare weapons.

She glanced at her stress level; it had increased by 10 points when she entered, and by another 5 points after walking a short distance. Her decision had been correct.

Hoo—!

A zombie suddenly darted out of the darkness. Sunflower's heart skipped a beat, but luckily she reacted quickly and struck the zombie back a few steps with her spiked club.

Jiang Baiyue held the iron axe warily.

This is a level 0 zombie; if she finishes it off, it's like stealing the kill.

The sounds of fighting seemed to herald the start of a new battle, and the roars of other zombies echoed in the void, some near and some far.

Soon, more zombies emerged from the darkness, and the seven people immediately stood back to back as agreed to avoid being attacked from behind.

The mercenaries remained guarding Jiang Baiyue's sides.

This body sac was one that Sunflower and his group had explored beforehand. They were prepared, but because the space was small, it took them more than 10 minutes to deal with the zombie.

"The morgue is over here!"

Nine people attacked the corpse sac together, and its 800 health quickly dropped to below 700. However, a new wave of zombies appeared, and there were quite a few of them.

Jiang Baiyue had Mercenary Number 2 hold torches and guard her, while she and Mercenary Number 1 were responsible for clearing out the zombies.

Refilling bullets costs 50 coins and 10 bullets, which is not cheap.

Mercenaries can't always hit a zombie's vitals, so Jiang Baiyue isn't having the two mercenaries use rifles; instead, they're using wooden axes to attack instead of defending.

She can be the main attacker and gain evolution points by killing zombies.

With so many zombies, the formation could not be maintained. Jiang Baiyue lured the zombies away to a wider area, then turned back and struck one of them with an axe before it could attack.

By increasing the distance, the torch's illumination range becomes larger.

"Hey, get out of the way, you almost elbowed me!"

Tian Tian shouted angrily at Xia, "I almost got pushed in front of a zombie and killed by Kaba!"

If she hadn't been classmates with Qingcai for over a decade, she would have thought she had been betrayed by her teammates.

Even though he didn't eat vegetables, he knew he had caused trouble. He quickly apologized, still shaken, and kicked the zombie away, running to the side to distance himself from the others.

After this incident, the others also consciously kept their distance.

This increased the range of the torch's illumination.

Jiang Baiyue and Sunflower dealt with the zombies almost simultaneously, then bypassed the chaotic crowd to attack the corpse sacs.

Level 1 zombies are only faster than Level 0 zombies; their attack methods are still limited to scratching and biting, so they are not difficult to fight.

However, this time the situation was slightly different from before. The two of them only managed to attack twice each before a new wave of zombies appeared.

"Step back!"

The group quickly retreated while fighting to avoid a situation where one person was fighting against two or three zombies.

Jiang Baiyue inadvertently turned her head and saw Bai Yunduo being chased by two zombies, so she quickly went to help.

Seeing that things were not going well, Sunflower attracted two zombies and led them to another path that was only wide enough for one person to pass through.

After an hour of intense hacking and running, the corpse sac's health dropped below 100. Jiang Baiyue then ordered Mercenary No. 1 to shoot the corpse sac before the next wave of zombies spawned.

Only after dealing with the remaining zombies did everyone gather together to rest.

When Xia was accidentally scratched by a zombie, Sunflower took out a bandage from her backpack and wrapped it around her arm.

Jiang Baiyue stepped back warily and asked, "Is there any poison in a zombie scratch?"

Xia Tian's wounds looked rather frightening. Even her head was lit up with a health bar, her health was continuously decreasing, her eyes were bloodshot, her face was pale, and she walked slower than others.

"No, we also used bandages to heal the vegetables when they were injured last time."

Sunflower knew Jiang Baiyue was worried and immediately explained, even turning her back to block Jiang Baiyue.

She was worried that Jiang Baiyue might take action and kill Tian Tian Xiang Xia at the slightest provocation.

Beauty is not a mistake, but there is also this worry. After the bandage was wrapped, she pulled Tiantian to the side.

In the spring, Ya spoke up to ease the tension: "Being captured only results in continuous bleeding, and treatment is a bit slow. Let's rest for half an hour first, and then we'll proceed once Xia has recovered."

Jiang Baiyue nodded, picking up the supplies on the ground while glancing at Tian Tian Xiang Xia from time to time. After the bandages were wrapped, Tian Tian Xiang Xia's health stopped decreasing, and the red in her eyes began to fade.

Surprisingly, the bandage worked quite quickly.

Unfortunately, she couldn't find any bandages; currently, she only had basic healing potions in stock.

Medicines and food are currently the most important strategic resources, and almost no one trades them away easily.
