Chapter 175 New Residents Join

"Lin Xiaoduo?" Sun Tiantian stood on tiptoe and peered around for a while before turning her head in surprise.

Just two days after they separated, Lin Xiaoduo looked as disheveled as if she had just been through World War II.

Her clothes were tattered and the original color was no longer visible. Half of the sole of her black sneakers was missing, revealing her fair toes.

She held two dog leashes in her hands, each around the neck of one of the two level-three zombies. The two zombies were obedient, diligently leading her forward like little dogs.

Lin Xiaoduo also put masks and hats on the two level-three zombies, so that they looked almost like normal people from a distance.

If it weren't for the unusual, unsteady gait, it would be really hard to tell the difference between him and a normal person.

"What is she doing here?" Xiao Yu stood up warily.

Lin Xiaoduo is Lin Weicheng's younger sister and is considered a young lady in Tengfei Base. Why is she here alone and looking so disheveled?

"oops."

Dozens of meters away, Lin Xiaoduo tripped over a dry tree trunk and fell hard on her elbow, scraping off a layer of skin on the spot.

A fresh bloodstain the size of a stamp was left on the road.

The little girl was quite strong; she gritted her teeth, got up from the ground, dusted herself off, and prepared to continue on her way.

Sizzle.

A series of fine, rustling sounds rang out.

A withered, thin root quietly extended to Lin Xiaoduo's feet, sucking up all the bloodstains on the ground.

The fresh blood of a young girl seemed delicious. The withered root, having drunk the blood, twisted and turned excitedly, like a drunken little snake.

Lu Sheng held up the binoculars, his lips pressed into a sharp line.

If she wasn't mistaken, the woods behind Lin Xiaoduo seemed to have changed.

Splash!

The next second, the tall poplar tree near Lin Xiaoduo suddenly shook its crown, scattering a thick carpet of black leaves on the ground.

With a strange sound, the big poplar tree suddenly bent down like an old man, stretched out two thick branches, hugged one side of its roots, and pulled upwards with force.

"That tree is moving?!" Even Han Rui, who is nearsighted, noticed the anomaly.

As the poplar tree moved, two tangled clumps of roots rose from the dry earth and stood eerily on the ground.

The tree crown trembled, and the thick leaves rustled, their sounds coming together like a hoarse laugh.

Lin Xiaoduo quickly noticed the abnormality. She turned around abruptly and saw the strange poplar tree running towards her.

"Help...help me!"

"Giddy up!"

Lin Xiaoduo turned pale with fright and frantically shook the leash in her hand, urging the two zombies to run faster.

Behind me, the two clumps of poplar roots were moving back and forth rapidly, their movements and shapes resembling a dachshund standing up.

It looks kind of funny.

Lu Sheng: "..."

The changes in flora and fauna caused by this acid rain are becoming increasingly exaggerated.

She had only ever seen tree people in games before, and she never expected that these mutated plants would be able to detach from the soil so quickly.

Nature has once again made human survival more difficult...

Although the poplar tree has short legs, it moves quickly. Less than five meters from the safe zone, its outstretched branches have already touched Lin Xiaoduo's hair.

At the critical moment, Lu Sheng set up his composite crossbow and shot an arrow through the center of the tree trunk.

rustle.

Like an injured human being, the poplar tree covered its wound with its branches, and the sound of its leaves rubbing together sounded like a dissatisfied sob.

The next second, Lu Sheng rushed to the poplar tree and swiftly cleaved the trunk in two.

[Item Obtained: Tier 4 Plant-type Crystal Core]

[Item obtained: Plant growth promoter.]

As soon as the crystal core was dug out, the little sunflower excitedly peeked out and jumped onto Lu Sheng's shoulder, rubbing against him.

Lu Sheng felt ticklish from its rubbing and casually tossed the crystal core over.

The little sunflower, as if it had received a treasure, proudly jumped onto Zhuangzhuang's head, holding up its two little leaves with the crystal core aloft to show off.

"Just keep spoiling it!"

Zhuangzhuang protested in dissatisfaction.

As the poplar tree died, several white skulls rolled out from its lush canopy.

“These skulls are both new and old; this tree must have been eating people for a long time.” Zhang Xiaojuan poked at them with a stick, then covered her nose in disgust.

"Sister Lu Sheng..."

Lin Xiaoduo was terrified and looked timidly at Lu Sheng.

"What are you doing here? Didn't you go back to the Tengfei Base?" Han Rui asked curiously as she helped Lin Xiaoduo up from the ground.

"I had a fight with my brother, and he kicked me out," Lin Xiaoduo said sullenly, her head down.

"I don't have many friends, and I don't know where to go, so I thought I'd come and find Sister Lu Sheng..."

Lu Sheng frowned slightly as he looked at the disheveled girl in front of him.

In just two days, Lin Xiaoduo seemed to have aged several years overnight.

Her full cheeks became gaunt and sunken, her once bright eyes were covered with a layer of gray and dull impurities, and she looked inexplicably tired.

“Lying isn’t something a good child does.” Sun Tiantian said seriously. “This is the apocalypse. What brother would kick his own sister out of the base over a little argument?”

"Seriously! I've never seen him get so angry! Just because I didn't want to eat corn porridge!"

Lin Xiaoduo's nose turned red with grievance, and tears fell as soon as she said a few words, "On the very night I returned to the base!"

"Luckily I met Xiaobai and Xiaohong, otherwise I wouldn't know what to do along the way." She said, pointing to her two zombie friends with blank stares beside her.

The girl didn't seem to be lying, but Lu Sheng still looked at her with a scrutinizing gaze.
