Chapter 212 The Descent of Eternal Night

Good heavens, is there such a good thing as a copy-and-paste ability? If she takes in enough people, wouldn't she be able to possess multiple types of abilities at the same time?

The previously awarded ability copying cards suddenly don't seem so appealing anymore.

Having received a doubling of his physical attributes, Lu Sheng could clearly feel that his entire body had been strengthened down to the last strand of hair, and even the split ends of his hair had disappeared.

He seemed to have inexhaustible strength; one punch from him could kill a bull.

After arranging employee dormitories and work assignments for Zhao Yuanjiang's family, Lu Sheng immediately selected to copy Zhao Wenyuan's invisibility ability within the system.

Her social anxiety-inducing collar only has one use left, and she desperately needs her invisibility ability to extend its lifespan.

Exhausted from being at the Oasis base, the group returned to their quarters, hastily ate a bite of lunch, and then went back to their rooms to fall into a deep sleep.

Lu Sheng slept for a full 20 hours. When he woke up, the hour hand of his watch was pointing to 10 a.m.

Zhuangzhuang was the first to run excitedly and bite open the curtains, but the scene of sunlight streaming into the room that he had imagined did not happen.

Outside the window, it was pitch black, with only the faint light of the staff dormitory visible in the distance.

"Oh no, I woke up too early, it's still the middle of the night, let's go back to sleep." Zhuangzhuang, half asleep, ran back to the window.

She jumped up and landed headfirst on the bed, almost lifting Lu Sheng off the bed.

She shook her wrist; the hour and minute hands on the watch face were still moving steadily, so it shouldn't be broken.

But after glancing at the dark night outside the window, Lu Sheng checked the time in the system with some unease.

10:01 AM.

It keeps exactly the same time as the watch.

"Zhuangzhuang, wake up, it's almost noon." Lu Sheng shook Zhuangzhuang awake, quickly got dressed, and went to meet up with the others.

The apocalyptic disaster has come around again. She didn't experience this phase in her previous life, so she needs to discuss it with others as soon as possible.

I hurried to the living room, where the rest of the people had already arrived.

After a good night's sleep, everyone felt much better, and even Xu Meng looked a bit fairer.

"What's going on outside? It's already ten o'clock and it's still not dawn." Zhang Xiaojuan leaned on the windowsill, staring at the night outside, and tried to open the window.

The window had barely been opened a crack when it was immediately blown open by a powerful gust of air.

The howling wind sounded somewhat eerie, and the small window slammed against the window frame with a loud thud.

Zhang Xiaojuan hurriedly closed the window again, tightening her collar with lingering fear. "The wind is so strong, it's almost like the north wind in the dead of winter back in my hometown in Northeast China."

"The natural disasters have changed, and we have now officially entered the Eternal Night Era." Xu Yi stood up and stood tall and elegant by the window.

"What does 'eternal night' mean? Does it mean there will never be a sunrise?" Han Rui asked, resting her chin on her hands and raising her head in surprise.

"Yes, from now on there will be no more distinction between day and night, it will be night 24 hours a day."

Xu Yi adjusted the gold-rimmed glasses on his nose, his brows furrowing slightly.

"That would be terrifying... Without sunlight, all crops would be unable to grow properly, and the food shortage would be even more severe."

Sun Tiantian and Xiao Yu exchanged a glance.

Human survival is about to face an even greater test.

Darkness is a haven for zombies and mutated plants and animals; limited visibility makes venturing out to find supplies even more difficult.

Without the sun's protection, temperatures would drop rapidly, and in the worst-case scenario, a mini ice age could occur.

"What about our crops? Will they still grow normally?" Zhuangzhuang asked anxiously as he approached Lu Sheng.

He still wants to eat more big strawberries! What if the strawberries don't bear fruit without sunshine?

"You'll get your share."

Lu Sheng casually touched Zhuangzhuang's head.

Just as the group was discussing how to deal with the triple debuff of eternal night, extreme cold, and insect plague that was about to hit them, there was a sudden, loud knocking at the door.

"Sister, are you awake yet!"

It was Zhao Wenyuan's voice.

"You keep calling me 'sister,' it's so sweet of you." Sun Tiantian smiled and glanced at Xu Yi out of the corner of her eye.

Teacher Xu is starting to make a difference! Our base is about to be raided! Who can resist a pure-hearted high school boy calling her "sister" this and "sister" that?!

Lu Sheng tried to get up and open the door, but Xu Yi pressed her down.

A tall, imposing figure strode forward, opened the door, and asked calmly, "What is it?"

"Oh no! There are hundreds of zombies outside the base!" Zhao Wenyuan was panting heavily as he ran, leaning against the door with one hand, his gaze involuntarily drifting towards Lu Sheng.

"Several hundred?"

Zhang Xiaojuan and Han Rui exclaimed in unison.

The group exchanged glances, then quickly got up and rushed towards the edge of the safe zone.

Bang bang bang!

A dozen incredibly strong zombies were ramming the base gate with all their might.
