Chen Ziqiu raised his head, his peach blossom eyes restlessly scanning Xu Yi up and down.
Even in the devastated post-apocalyptic battlefield, Xu Yi remained impeccably clean, as if he were from a different dimension from the disheveled passersby around him.
Clothing is one of the most direct indicators of strength in the apocalypse.
When survival is a luxury, those who still have the energy to dress and groom themselves are no ordinary people.
Lu Sheng and Xu Yi's group, in terms of their clothing and skin condition, clearly showed that they had been living in a superior environment for a long time, and there was not a trace of the dishevelment of the apocalypse on their bodies.
Especially the man in front of me, although he was dressed in an expensive suit, the fierceness in his deep eyes was chilling even through his glasses.
Like a wild beast dressed in a suit, the thin fabric serves only to restrain the beast's murderous intent.
"It's just a polite gesture, don't be so nervous."
"Take everything we're entitled to."
He casually shouted something to those behind him, and the team members responded in unison, ignoring the dissatisfaction of the K3 base members, and began to collect zombie cores on a large scale.
"Chen Ziqiu, you guys arrived a long time ago, hiding in the magnetic field the whole time. We cleaned it up before coming out to grab the spoils! You're a real coward!"
Xiao Meng's face flushed red as she glared at Chen Ziqiu as he ordered the team to line up.
"We are an allied base, and we came all this way to help. You don't even thank us, and your attitude is so bad."
Behind Chen Ziqiu, a young girl with short hair retorted angrily, picked up a military shovel, and arrogantly dug out a fifth-order crystal core.
"An alliance base?" Xiao Yu looked at Li Sheng in confusion.
Why would we need their help when we already have an allied base? Are we just ordering around an idiot?
Li Sheng's expression was tense, barely concealing his anger. "They made all sorts of promises when we formed the alliance, that we'd share both glory and ruin, that the two bases would be bound together. But when things really got tough, these bastards didn't even answer the radio, just waiting to come and pick up the scraps."
K3 Base and Xusheng Base, where Chen Ziqiu is located, formed an alliance in the early days of the apocalypse, agreeing to support each other. However, it is clear that when trouble comes, they still go their separate ways.
"It's one thing not to help, but to act like a big shot is going too far," Zhang Xiaojuan chimed in from the side.
Not far away, the people at the Xusheng base didn't take the K3 seriously at all, and arrogantly began rummaging through the mountains of corpses and seas of blood.
They only collected zombie cores of level four and above, leaving the rest aside under the pretense of distributing them to K3.
This is a classic case of someone who gets the benefit but then complains.
The K3 players were naturally not satisfied, and the two sides started pushing and shoving each other, almost coming to blows.
"These bastards are taking advantage of the fact that we won't be able to fight back after such a fierce battle. They're going too far!"
Li Sheng's men, filled with righteous indignation, rolled up their sleeves and rushed over.
However, most of the K3 players had exhausted their energy and quickly lost ground in the shoving.
The short-haired girl looked smug and swung a shovel at Zhang Xiaojuan's back, saying, "Get out of the way, a good dog doesn't block the way."
Just as she was happily preparing to bend down and pick up the crystal core, a sharp crossbow bolt whistled through the air and pierced straight to her feet.
"Who!" The short-haired girl instinctively raised her head and looked around nervously.
Lu Sheng coldly raised the composite crossbow. "I told you, these crystal cores are all mine."
Who do you think you are? Just because you say it's yours?
The short-haired girl retorted and, in a fit of rage, threw something at Lu Sheng.
A dense swarm of black dots rushed toward Lu Sheng's direction with a whoosh.
"Holy crap, they're full of bugs!"
Zhang Xiaojuan glanced at it curiously, and immediately felt so disgusted that she almost threw up her dinner from the night before.
The girl was a Mushishi (insect master), and she threw over a whole bunch of mutated water ants.
These insects eat anything and everything. If they get on your skin, they will directly gnaw on your flesh. If you're unlucky, they can cause infection and inflammation, causing blisters the size of a fist.
Many people have died from infections caused by bites from mutated termites.
"It's good that you know fear!"
The short-haired girl was feeling quite pleased with herself when she suddenly stopped talking.
She felt a sudden darkness before her eyes, and a sharp figure had already appeared in front of her.
The next second, she felt a forceful grip on her throat, and her neck was being tightly choked.
Suffocation, excruciating pain.
A wave of dizziness, making it hard to breathe, washed over me instantly.
She tried to call for help, but after struggling painfully, she could only manage to squeeze out a broken syllable from her throat.
Faced with overwhelming power, she was as weak as a little bird that could be crushed at any moment; the opponent could easily kill her with the slightest flick of their finger.
"These are all mine. Do you understand?"
Lu Sheng tightened his knuckles expressionlessly.
She has never liked to talk nonsense, and there's even less need for her to waste her breath in the apocalypse.
Might makes right, strength is the rule—this is the law of survival in the apocalypse.
At this moment, the members of the Xusheng base, finally realizing what was happening, surrounded Lu Sheng and assumed fighting stances. Many even drew their guns, pointing them at Lu Sheng and his group.
Xu Yi and the others reacted quickly, and the remaining fighting force of K3 rushed to Lu Sheng, ready for any possible conflict.
The tension on the field instantly escalated.
"Can't reach an agreement?" Chen Ziqiu seemed unconcerned about the short-haired girl, and walked over casually, his gaze fixed on Lu Sheng.
"Rocket, teach them a lesson." Lu Sheng patted Rocket's ear and gave him a gentle instruction.
The rocket stomped its feet excitedly, and immediately roared as it transformed into a dazzling bolt of lightning, rushing into the crowd.
