"Why are there so many people? I have social anxiety..." Zhang Xiaojuan leaned half her body out of the RV to look around.
The remaining few people were speechless.
Zhang Xiaojuan has a bit of social anxiety disorder; if even he can be considered socially awkward, then there is no one in the world who is not socially awkward.
Because of the eternal night, most of the mountain where Lu Sheng's base is located is shrouded in thick darkness, with only the natural light sources within the base emitting a soft glow.
Like fireflies in the dark, they will attract attention no matter what.
Knowing there was no way to avoid it, Lu Sheng simply stopped caring that the base had been discovered.
With such a bright, large blob right here, it's unrealistic to try and hide it discreetly. Anyway, the base's security system is robust enough; at most, it'll just take some effort to deal with any unlucky fools who don't notice.
If you want to wear a crown, you must bear its weight; if you want to hold a rose, you must bear its pain.
Having enjoyed the convenience brought by the system rewards, she would naturally accept the risks that this gift might bring.
As long as you are strong enough, you will have smooth sailing wherever you go.
The line at the base entrance was four or five meters long, and it meandered around two corners, with at least one or two hundred people at a glance.
To avoid scratching passersby, Lu Sheng and her group got out of the car some distance from the base.
Lu Sheng put the RV back into his spatial storage, and the group planned to walk back to the base.
Just as Xiao Yu brushed past the end of the line and was about to enter, the square-faced old man next to her grabbed her collar.
"Don't you know how to queue? Can't you see everyone is queuing?"
The old man glared at Lu Sheng and the others, then sternly reprimanded them before muttering angrily, "Young people these days are getting worse and worse; they have no sense of public morality whatsoever."
"Back then, I blah blah blah..."
Even in the apocalypse, the old habit of Chinese grandpas liking to preach still exists.
"Why should we queue up when we can go back to our own homes!"
Han Rui retorted crisply, grabbed Xiao Yu from the old man's hand, and strode towards the base.
"Hey! Little girls! Stop messing around, we can't get into this courtyard, there's a spatial barrier blocking it!"
Seeing Lu Sheng and her group rushing into the gate without a care, several kind-looking young men at the front of the group quickly spoke up to remind them.
"This place is protected by high-level zombies. Trying to force your way in will get you killed! Don't be reckless!"
Before the words "courting death" had even cooled down, everyone saw Lu Sheng and the others enter the courtyard with practiced ease.
Holy crap?!
Why were these people allowed in?
Those around were instantly shocked.
They were all refugees from all over the country, and were drawn here by the soft light on the mountain.
Many people in the group tried to enter the beautiful mansion, but they were all blocked by an invisible barrier in the air.
Some hot-tempered zombies tried to force their way in, but without exception, they were all quickly killed by the two handsome zombies in the yard.
But these young people who suddenly appeared were able to get in without any hindrance?
"Could it be that the spatial barrier has failed?" someone in the team speculated.
The next second, several impatient individuals rushed forward.
Unsurprisingly, the people who rushed forward were all bounced back by the invisible barrier and fell flat on their backsides.
Those who have survived to this day are not fools; they immediately realized that Lu Sheng and the others were the owners of this mysterious base.
The crowd near the gate immediately became restless.
The return of the base's owners means they have a chance to gain access to the base.
But no one nearby made a sound; they all silently shut their mouths and returned to the line. Those at the front of the line who heard the commotion went back to inquire, but received only perfunctory and vague answers.
As long as there are people, there will be competition; the more people who want to join the base, the lower the probability that each person will be selected.
Everyone had their own agenda, wishing they were the only ones to discover the base owner.
When Lu Sheng and his group returned to the base, they discovered the source of the hundreds of people queuing up.
The line, several meters long, originated at the fence next to the supermarket at the base.
The siblings Xu Han and Xu Meng were sweating profusely, spinning like little tops as they carried things out of the supermarket.
The Han Mingjun family and the Zhao Yuanjiang family worked like oxen pulling a cart, carefully packaging the fresh fruits and vegetables and the cut meat separately.
The two siblings, Zhao Wenyuan and Zhao Xiaotong, along with Bingbing, set up a table next to the blue sky and packaged and sold the supplies at different prices.
Goodness, after just a few days, these people have started using Meituan Maicai (a grocery delivery service) at the base.
The prices are reasonable: 50 crystal cores for a bottle of mineral water and 100 crystal cores for a cup of instant noodles. Fresh vegetables and meats are a bit more expensive, but still within the acceptable range for ordinary ability users.
The only unsold items were the snacks Xu Meng had exchanged from the supermarket, which were piled up on the table and ignored.
When people can't even afford to eat, snacks are a luxury, and few people are willing to spend a lot of money to buy them.
Even the zombie security guards and the little panda assistants couldn't escape the fate of working illegally.
The zombie security guard was in charge of chopping ribs, while the little panda, utterly dejected, was in charge of removing the leaves from the fruit.
Delivering goods is tiring enough, but when you stick your paws out of the fence to hand out fruit, you get petted by all sorts of people.
The group was so busy they didn't even notice Lu Sheng and the others had returned. It wasn't until Bingbing turned around to buy popsicles that she realized someone was behind her.
"Commander! You're back!"
Bingbing's big, dark grape-like eyes lit up, and she ran over excitedly, burying her head in Lu Sheng's arms.
