"Sister, girls aren't cute if they're too fierce. It's okay to be a little gentle sometimes."
Ji Feng touched his nose sullenly, then smiled as he looked at Lu Sheng's cold and beautiful profile.
The dim light in the underground passage cast a soft halo over her smooth jawline, softening her cool profile.
Lu Sheng lowered his eyes indifferently, "Boys who talk too much will be hung on the wall."
"Huh?" Ji Feng looked puzzled.
Is it because he's been locked up in the basement for so long that he's developed a generation gap with people from big cities?
Finally, it was the kind older brother Zhang Xiaojuan who kindly explained the situation to the little brother, "Have you heard that a man will only behave when he's hanging on the wall?"
"People only hang black and white photos on the wall when they're dead, understand?"
Monsoon: "..."
I'm numb, completely numb.
"There are people in the rooms inside, a lot of people, at least dozens."
Zhuangzhuang suddenly meowed and raised its tail alertly.
Following Zhuangzhuang's directions, the group quickly found the large room hidden deep within the low-income area.
The room was heavily guarded, with 360-degree surveillance cameras at the entrance. Although these security measures were practically useless against Lu Sheng, they still created an incredibly oppressive atmosphere.
"It's so secure, they must be up to no good inside," Zhang Xiaojuan muttered, rubbing her chin.
Lu Sheng took out the decoder and swiped it on the door, and immediately heard a beeping electronic unlocking prompt.
As the group entered, they were greeted by a row of advanced and neatly arranged modern machine tool production lines.
The room was several hundred square meters in size, and dozens of workers were busy working around the machines.
Lu Sheng and the others' appearance only made them glance at them briefly before they immediately lowered their heads and continued their work.
The limited space was mostly occupied by machines, leaving only a narrow passageway where only one person could pass sideways.
Dozens of workers, like robots, kept repeating the same monotonous tasks, completely ignoring Lu Sheng and her group's arrival.
"Holy crap, what's that smell?" Zhang Xiaojuan suddenly covered her nose and muttered softly.
The ventilation system in the workshop was noticeably different from that in other parts of the bunker. The air inside was stagnant and murky, mixed with the stench of sweat and a nauseating odor.
Lu Sheng and his group had only been inside for less than a minute when they were overwhelmed by the pungent smell and felt dizzy.
Soon, the group found the source of the stench.
A young female worker, around twenty years old, suddenly clutched her stomach and quickly ran towards the corner of the room.
What followed left Lu Sheng and the others speechless.
In the corner, there was a small cubicle simply separated by glass. A young female worker actually ran into the cubicle and took off her pants.
This glass partition is actually a squat toilet!
The toilet stalls were made of the simplest, completely transparent glass. Even though Lu Sheng and the others were quite a distance away from the stalls, they could still clearly see the white buttocks behind the glass.
Lu Sheng frowned slightly.
The workers in the workshop were both men and women, and their ages varied widely. But whether it was the young girls in the cubicles or the other male and female workers, everyone seemed to take this kind of thing for granted.
After the young girl finished relieving herself, she slowly and deliberately pulled up her pants in front of several middle-aged male workers.
Sun Tiantian was completely bewildered. "Why don't these people even bother to be discreet when they go to the toilet?"
All the workers in the workshop were like numb zombies, seemingly having lost the values and ethics of a normal person.
The group of people suppressed their nausea and carefully observed the workers who were working numbly on the assembly line, trying to find some clues.
Suddenly, a figure in blue overalls rushed over from the side of the group.
"Brother Xiao!"
The person took off their mask, revealing a familiar young face.
"Xiao Zhu?" Xiao Yu was surprised and helped the person who came in.
The young man in front of them, who was as thin as a bamboo pole, turned out to be Xiao Zhu, the junior who had helped them procure supplies twice before, once at school and once at the West Market.
Lu Sheng almost drew his knife, but luckily Xiao Zhu shouted.
What are you doing here?
Several people looked at the former professional scalper with surprise.
Xiao Zhu has a good business sense and has been making a comfortable living as a scalper since before the apocalypse. He used to be slightly chubby with a bit of baby fat on his face, but now he's so thin that he's just a skeleton, with deep sunken eye sockets and philtrum.
"It's a long story," Xiao Zhu said, her voice breaking into a sob.
He gripped Xiao Yu's forearms tightly with both hands. "Hurry up and go! I just heard the alarm go off. Ji Lingang will send people to arrest us soon!"
"Don't worry, with us here, no one can bully you. First, explain yourself clearly, what exactly happened?"
Like a frightened bird, Xiao Zhu subconsciously glanced outside the door and cautiously lowered her voice, "This is the Ji family's territory. Everyone in this workshop is an undocumented worker tricked by the Ji family."
Through Xiao Zhu's intermittent narration, Lu Sheng and the others finally figured out the origins of these people.
It turns out that the Ji family's bunker contained a massive amount of pharmaceutical materials. After the apocalypse, in order to maintain the normal operation of the factory inside the bunker, the Ji family sent people to deceive many people from the outside world using various means.
Some of these recruitment schemes, disguised as job openings, offered free food and lodging, attracting a large number of starving people in the post-apocalyptic world.
Some were even more unlucky; they were simply passing by the bunker when the Ji family's henchmen forcibly dragged them into the bunker under the cover of night.
Xiao Zhu's experience was dramatic.
