"But you've smashed him so flat that we can't even ask him any questions."
Xiao Yu snatched the food from the rocket's gaping maw, rescuing the two level-five zombie corpses. "Why would these two zombies listen to Ji Boyan? What kind of superpower does he have?"
Zhuangzhuang stretched lazily, its little pink tongue licking its paw pads. "This person has no superpowers, he's a useless piece of trash."
"No superpowers? Then how does he control these two zombies? By winning them over with love?" Zhang Xiaojuan paused for a moment, then struggled to lift the meat pie off the ground. "Love is a light, so green it makes you panic?"
Seeing that Ji Boyan was dead, Xiao Zhu finally crawled out from under the table with trepidation. "I know that the Ji family has a special spray that targets zombies. As long as you spray it, you can control zombies for a certain period of time."
Lu Sheng and the others looked at each other in bewilderment.
"The city's technology has developed this fast already?" Zhang Xiaojuan looked bewildered. "Doesn't this thing have any side effects? Is it really that easy to control a level 5 zombie?"
Xu Yi bent down and picked up the metal collar around the zombie's neck with his fingers. "The spikes on the collar contain a calming ingredient, probably to control the zombie in time if it becomes disobedient."
"What a dog! Even after turning into a zombie, it's still being enslaved by capitalism."
Zhang Xiaojuan, also a lowly office worker, complained and pulled Xiao Zhu up, saying, "Alright, you're lucky today. Come with us."
"What should we do with these people? Let them out?" Xiao Yu was unsure what to do.
Almost everyone here is a black laborer who was brought into the bunker by the Ji family through various despicable means; they are all pitiful people.
Lu Sheng glanced at the remaining workers.
The bloody scene that had just occurred seemed to have no effect on these people; everyone continued their work like zombies.
Everyone's face was numb and blank, like lifeless puppets, mechanically repeating their work.
Han Rui cautiously examined the young female workers beside her, pointing to their necks, "These people are all wearing metal collars that are as thick as a finger. Could they be time bombs?"
They had experienced this once before in Qinhuai City, and luckily Lu Sheng had the decoder given to him by the system, which saved him from disaster.
Xiao Zhu tugged at the collar in frustration, "I almost forgot about this."
“All workers in the Ji family must wear these positioning collars. As soon as the collar is detected to be outside the control range set by the Ji family, it will automatically detonate.”
"As expected, only capitalists can empathize with other capitalists. These bastards all have similar thought processes," Zhang Xiaojuan cursed angrily.
Lu Sheng took out the decoder and rubbed it against Xiao Zhu's neck.
A short, sharp electronic sound rang out.
The metal collar clicked open, unlocking the collar.
Holy crap!
Xiao Zhu was so shocked that she almost kowtowed to Lu Sheng on the spot, "Sister Lu, you are my only sister!"
Lu Sheng remained calm as he tossed the decoder to Xiao Zhu, saying, "Help them unlock their collars and let them go."
Since Ji Lingang had the financial resources to build an indestructible post-apocalyptic bunker before the apocalypse, and was able to come up with so many creative ideas, he must have some ability.
When Ji Lingang's main force arrives, a fierce battle is inevitable. She gives these innocent people a way out; how they proceed from there is up to them.
"Okay, I'll do as Sister Lu says."
Xiao Zhu picked up the decoder, rushed to the machine, first untied the collars of a few alumni, and then quickly dealt with the rest of the people.
To everyone's surprise, instead of feeling relieved after being freed from their collars, the workers stood there holding the collars, each one hesitant to speak.
"Run! What are you standing there for? Ji Boyan and Ji Wenwen are dead, you need to run now!" Xiao Zhu urged anxiously, sweating profusely.
All that responded to him were pairs of numb, empty eyes and a suppressed silence.
"If you run away, the Ji family will beat you to death..."
After a long while, a middle-aged man finally spoke up timidly.
Ji Feng leaned casually against the wall, his narrow, almond-shaped eyes giving a playful look to everyone in the room. "The collar around your neck is easy to remove, but the collar on your spirit is not so easy to remove."
Xiao Zhu looked at him with exasperation, "The Ji family is almost all dead, who has time to catch you?"
"No, no... If we get caught, we'll be beaten to death." Another person in the corner responded in terror.
Fear of the Ji family spread rapidly throughout the room like a virus.
The enslaved workers looked terrified, and some even eagerly put their collars back on.
The workers, wearing collars, were like dogs returning to their owners, feeling much more at ease. "As long as I work hard, I won't get beaten. Hurry up and get to work, work..."
Lu Sheng and the others looked at each other in bewilderment.
"Never mind them, let's go." Seeing this, Xiao Zhu hurriedly patted the shoulders of several alumni and urged them anxiously.
The alumni exchanged glances, their feet seemingly rooted to the spot, and none of them moved.
After a few seconds, one of the junior school girls with a bun bit her lip and spoke timidly in a low voice, "It's so dangerous outside, and our ability levels aren't high. It'll be hard for us to survive, won't it?"
"Although the work here is a bit tough, at least we have food and clothing, and a safe place to sleep without worrying about being eaten by mutated beasts..."
"Anyway, we'll still need to work after graduation before the apocalypse."
His outrageous remarks left Lu Sheng and the others speechless.
Xiao Zhu was heartbroken and grabbed his junior's shoulder, saying, "This isn't a job, it's slavery! They're treating us like animals!"
