With a chilling chewing sound, the monster's basin-sized head suddenly stiffened, and then its short, thick neck shrank back.
"Tui!"
With a nauseating retching sound, the monster spat out a clump of bone fragments, splattering them all over the ground.
The man whose head had been bitten off was left with only a headless torso. But the new type of zombie was moving so fast that the cells in the body parts that had lost their heads still had a trace of activity. The muscles twitched a few times before the man fell to the ground with a thud.
A fountain of blood gushed from the severed head, splattering the surrounding people with crimson blood. Combined with the headless torso still trembling slightly on the ground, the scene was as horrifying as hell.
Some members of the deep space base team were so terrified by the scene before them that they panicked and took several steps back in a panic.
The rustling sounds from the ventilation ducts continued, and in the thick darkness of the corner, several pairs of grayish-white eyes were staring intently at the group.
Traditional zombies are relatively slow, giving those with superpowers ample time to use their abilities to deal with them. But these new zombies, ravaged by radiation, are incredibly fast, giving no time to react.
Many people at the scene immediately backed out.
A middle-aged man in his forties in the Falcon Squad was terrified and scrambled backward.
The corridor was filled with invasive, mutated plants with intertwined roots. The man took a few steps back, and before he knew it, he had fallen. He tumbled down several steps before landing heavily on the next floor.
"Grass……"
The man muttered a curse under his breath, then scrambled to his feet.
But the muffled thud had already attracted the attention of the mutated zombies in the darkness.
A sharp bone spike shot out from the shadows in the direction the man was fleeing.
Pfft!
A thick, rough bone spur, as thick as a wrist, pierced through the man's back and into his chest, firmly pinning his tall, robust body to the floor tiles.
Before anyone could react, a grotesque, deformed black shadow darted out from the corner, opened its blood-red maw, and bit off the man's head.
Du Ze instinctively shone his flashlight at the shadow.
It was a mutant zombie whose body was covered by an exoskeleton; the white skeleton served as its armor. Two fleshy wings, each a meter wide when open, stretched out from both sides of its spine, each wing densely covered with sharp, cold bone spikes.
Facing the beam of the flashlight, the mutant zombie defiantly crunched the head it was holding in its mouth.
Then it extended its bright red, slippery tongue and licked its lips with lingering satisfaction. The headless torso, left uneaten, was tossed aside like trash.
Zhang Xiaojuan cursed under her breath, "You bastard, you're quite picky about food. You only eat the head and throw the rest away."
The flashlight beam shone on the face of the bone-spiked zombie, and Du Ze couldn't help but tremble.
The slight swaying quickly annoyed the big guy on the other side. He slowly stood up and paced towards the group.
The remaining new-type zombies in the corner instantly fell silent, all concealing their presence, seemingly terrified of this ugly mutated monster.
Shi Nian carefully put the baby slug into her pocket and whispered to Lu Sheng, "Sister, his level is the same as mine, I can't control him."
"It's alright, we just need to deal with the rest of the small fry." Lu Sheng smiled easily.
Sun Lu was both angry and anxious. She snatched the flashlight from Du Ze and said, "Are you stupid? Why are you shining it at him like that? Do you want us to die quickly enough?"
"If you want to die, go die by your own Falcon Squad, don't drag the rest of you down with you!"
"careful!"
As they were talking, Du Ze's expression changed, and he cried out in alarm.
Sun Lu instinctively turned around to look behind her, and the next second, she was hit on the back with a brute force.
"Stop your nagging! I've put up with you for ages!" Du Ze's expression was ferocious as he shoved Sun Lu down the stairs. "Get out of here! You bitch! When did you become the one to boss me around?"
Whether before or after the apocalypse, Sun Lu has never suffered any losses due to her exceptional talent.
She stared in astonishment, unable to believe that she had been pushed away by her teammate on the same mission.
"team leader!"
Sun Lu's wood-type team members immediately threw out vines to try and catch her, but Du Ze drew his sword and cleaved them in two.
"Anyone who dares to save this bitch will die with her!" Du Ze's ferocity was on full display as he angrily ordered everyone, "While she's holding that guy off, everyone come with me right now! Anyone who wants to die, get out of here!"
Losing her balance, Sun Lu's body rolled uncontrollably down the stairs, landing heavily just two meters away from the bone-spur zombie.
Young, fresh, and juicy flesh is naturally more delicious than dry, dirty old men.
Sun Lu's youthful, hormonal aura immediately attracted the attention of the bone-spiked zombie. The disgusting monster walked towards Sun Lu, revealing a lewd expression.
Du Ze's smug sneer instantly gave him absolute control of the team.
When disaster strikes, everyone flees for their lives. Seeing this, the remaining people all switched sides to Du Ze's forces, and he then prepared to take advantage of the chaos to rush into the laboratory.
"You fucking wait! I'll haunt you even as a ghost!" Sun Lu angrily got up from the ground and hurled several large fireballs at the menacing alien monster in front of her.
But things didn't go as planned. The bone-spiked zombie spread its large fleshy wings and easily extinguished the fireball with a few flaps.
Several sharp bone spikes shot straight towards Sun Lu with the flapping of its fleshy wings, two of them piercing her shoulders and pinning her to the ground.
