Chapter 271 A Twist of Fate

"Damn it, Zhao Fan has been taken away by Du Ze and his group. We don't have a guide, so it will be a bit of a hassle to search for him room by room."

Sun Lu moved her shoulder with a surprised expression. The blood at the wound where the bone spur had just pierced had already congealed, and the torn flesh had healed back together, leaving only a shallow scar.

The newly grown skin at the wound site was white and tender, and even had a color difference from the surrounding skin.

She looked at Lu Sheng with a mixture of surprise and delight, "What kind of medicine is this? It works so well! After drinking one bottle, my backache and leg pain are gone, and I even have the energy to climb the stairs."

After the apocalypse, humanity's medical capabilities were severely hampered. On one hand, healing-type abilities had high growth potential, while on the other hand, medical supplies and tools were scarce. Therefore, each team relied heavily on healing-type ability users.

The healing-type ability users in Sun Lu's team were of relatively low level, and she was prepared to lose both of her arms due to the severity of her injuries.

And Lu Sheng's medicine could completely heal a puncture wound in a short period of time! She had never even heard of a medicine of this level in the deep space base, and even if it did exist, it was beyond her level to obtain!

Unexpectedly, when resources were extremely scarce, Lu Sheng was willing to give such a precious potion to a complete stranger she had just met.

Too much sentimentality just sounds affected, so Sun Lu silently categorized herself as belonging to Lu Sheng's camp. From now on, she would go through fire and water for Lu Sheng no matter what he said!

"Emm... little sister, don't put too much pressure on yourself. Giving you this thing is as easy as eating a bowl of rice for me."

Looking at Sun Lu, who was tearfully trying to figure things out, Zhang Xiaojuan couldn't help but comfort her, "Just think of Sister Lu as Doraemon's magic pocket. There's nothing she can't do. Just focus on eating and living your life."

As the group was talking, a shrill scream suddenly came from upstairs.

The sound was too far away to determine the exact direction.

Li Jingjing's expression changed. "Have they run into trouble again?"

"They deserved to die! Who told them to abandon Captain Sun?" said the bespectacled young woman working for Sun Lu indignantly.

Lu Sheng tossed the overfed baby slug to Shi Nian, saying, "Let's go upstairs and see what's going on."

The group quickly packed their bags and hurried upstairs to catch up.

The hallway was filled with a pungent smell of blood. The remains of a few new type of irradiated zombies lay scattered along the sides of the corridor, and the personal belongings of some deep space base team members could be seen from time to time.

The snow-white walls were stained with blood, clearly indicating that the group's progress was not going smoothly.

"There are too many rooms here, how are we going to find them? Should we split up?" Sun Lu had already returned to combat mode and turned to look at Lu Sheng.

The next second, the chubby, fat cat tumbled out and landed right on Sun Lu's feet. Immediately afterward, a not-so-bright-looking husky appeared out of nowhere, its tongue lolling out, and immediately rolled around Lu Sheng's legs, fawning over him.

Sun Lu's toes twitched in pain as she stared in astonishment at the round, furry, fat Hakimi on the ground.

Family members, does anyone understand? She was almost hit by a cat.

"Zhuangzhuang, find someone," Lu Sheng said succinctly.

Zhuangzhuang was watching cartoons in the space when he was suddenly summoned. He was a little unaccustomed to it. It took him a few seconds to prick up his little ears and activate his radar to detect.

"Come with me."

With a miner's hat with a light bulb stuck on his head by Lu Sheng, Zhuangzhuang hopped and skipped ahead, leading the way.

The group followed Zhuangzhuang, quickening their pace to catch up. Soon, the smell of blood became stronger and stronger.

Soon they encountered a stumbling figure, none other than Xu Jing, a single mother who had signed up for the task with them.

"Why are you alone? Where are the others?" Sun Lu went to greet her immediately.

Xu Jing, her hair disheveled, hunched over with her hands on her thighs, panting, said, "I was separated from the main group by zombies just now. I barely managed to catch up and then I ran into you guys."

Zhang Xiaojuan was taken aback for a moment, then frowned slightly. "You're all alone? We didn't see you on the way upstairs."

"The situation was quite urgent just now, so I crawled through the ventilation duct," Xu Jing said, raising her arm to show everyone the dirty dust stains on her sleeve.

Her elbows and knees were smudged black, and there were spider webs stuck in her hair, making it look like she had crawled all the way from a ventilation duct.

Sun Lu pursed her lips. "What kind of zombies did you encounter just now? Or were they the new type of radiation zombies?"

"Yes, but they have a lot of people, so they should be able to handle it. When they dispersed, I saw they were heading this way." Xu Jing rubbed her sore thighs.

The potential that people can unleash in a crisis is enormous. Taking advantage of her slender and petite figure, she mustered all her strength to shake off the zombies in the ventilation duct. Now that she saw living people and relaxed, her thighs and knees ached as if they were twisted.

Zhuangzhuang scanned the area with its radar, then raised its fluffy tail and pointed it towards the corridor to the right. "We need to keep searching further in."

No sooner had the words left his mouth than another muffled thud came from afar.

The group exchanged glances.

Xu Yi took the lead at the front of the group, whispering instructions, "Keep the formation tight and try not to touch anything."

The building was fraught with hidden dangers, and they could only try to be as careful as possible to avoid alerting any more monsters.

Zhang Xiaojuan and Xu Yi gestured for all the women to stand in the middle of the line, while the two men would bring up the back.

Of everyone present, only Shi Nian seemed as happy as if she were on a spring outing, teasing cats and dogs, and casually pinching insects. She hadn't had any friends since the apocalypse, and now having so many people with her made her feel as happy as if it were New Year's Day.
