Chapter 30: I'll help you carve it on your ancestral grave.

Xiao Zhu chuckled awkwardly, "Sister-in-law, don't put it so harshly. These days, apart from the wealthy, who can afford meat? Besides, this meat will only last for two days at most. If it doesn't sell, it will spoil, and I'll have to bear the risk too."

“Five catties it is. There are about three hundred catties of mutton here. We’ll exchange them all for rice and wheat flour.” Lu Sheng placed the order directly. “But it must be new rice and new flour. No old rice or flour.”

Trading five pounds of mutton for one pound of rice seems like a losing proposition, but Lu Sheng actually had his own plans.

Xiao Zhu is right. With the power supply being unstable, ordinary families, apart from wealthy people who have backup generators at home, simply don't dare to buy large quantities of mutton.

Vacuum-packed rice bricks and wheat flour can be stored temporarily, but mutton will spoil if it is not sold within two days.

"Do you have canned meat?" Xu Yi, who had been silent until now, suddenly asked.

"They have steamed pork in cans, but it's more expensive than rice. You can exchange 20 jin of mutton for one 500g can."

Xiao Zhu winked at a car parked not far away.

After some bargaining, Lu Sheng and his two companions finally traded 300 jin of mutton for 20 cans of food, 15 jin of rice, and 5 jin of flour.

The transaction took place right under the nose of the police station, and neither side was worried about being double-crossed.

Before leaving, Xiao Zhu even left her phone number, saying that she could come back anytime to exchange anything she needed.

The three drove back to Dingxianglou, and as soon as they arrived downstairs, they were met with a pair of envious eyes.

Everyone was starving and emaciated, even fighting over rat meat. But these four people on the fourth floor always came back with bags full of supplies. Who wouldn't be envious?

Several middle-aged men from the construction team, with stubble beards, were smoking and squatting in the first-floor corridor, staring intently at Lu Sheng and Sun Tiantian.

Goods are incredibly expensive outside right now, and you have to pull strings to buy many things. The contractor had already been withholding their wages, and now they can't even find the contractors.

"Damn it, those two young women, so fair and smooth, who knows how much good food they sneak around eating every day." An older man took a deep drag on his cigarette.

The people nearby were so hungry they could hardly contain their envy as they watched Xu Yi and Lu Sheng carrying a box of canned goods and two bags of rice bricks.

Lu Sheng caught a glimpse of the menacing gazes of these people out of the corner of his eye and silently drew his knife.

They originally wanted to find something else to cover themselves up, but there were citizens everywhere who were so eager to grab supplies that they had no choice but to drive back first in order not to waste time.

The three of them, carrying their belongings, had just stepped into the first-floor entrance when they were blocked by a group of people.

The construction workers who were temporarily staying on the first floor all came out, each carrying rusty tools, clearly ready to get to work.

The mother of the child who came to beg from Lu Sheng last time also came, holding that unruly child's hand.

The two were hiding behind one of the middle-aged men, and they looked like a family.

"We all live in the same building. You all eat and drink well every day, and you're all plump and healthy, while we're starving. We can't even get a bowl of steamed buns soaked in hot water." The speaker was probably a construction foreman, wearing a yellow hard hat and holding a large iron shovel.

Lu Sheng sneered, "If you want to eat and drink, go out and find it yourself. If you can't find it, think about why you're incompetent. What's the point of robbing something that's readily available downstairs? Should I have the word 'good-for-nothing' engraved on your ancestral grave?"

"Shut the fuck up, you bitch! If you don't give us half of what you have today, don't even think about coming in here." The construction foreman's face turned pale from Lu Sheng's retort, and he slammed his shovel on the ground.

The child's mother came out pretending to be a good person, standing between the two groups and trying to smooth things over, saying, "We live in the same building, so we're all neighbors. Let's keep the peace and talk things out."

She hugged the little girl to her chest and stroked her big head. "Little girl, I know you college students are kind-hearted. We adults can go without food for a few meals, but children are growing and need to eat."

"Please, for the sake of the children, have some mercy and share some of your food with us." The mother said, reaching for Sun Tiantian's hand. "Look how slender you two girls are, you probably can't eat much. My son is malnourished from hunger, please have some compassion."

The mother smiled broadly, "We can help you with chores, washing clothes, cooking, and even heavy lifting."

Lu Sheng glanced at the middle-aged woman. The child was so fat and chubby that he didn't look malnourished, but rather overnourished.

"Who do you think you are?" Lu Sheng kicked the middle-aged woman in the chest, sending her flying more than a meter away. "Even if the sky falls, you'll still have your shamelessness to hold it up."

"Your husband isn't dead, is he? If you want to raise a child, go find her father. All he does is ask others for things. This child will be a good-for-nothing like her father."

These things were earned through great hardship, and these people think they can take half of them just by talking? No way.

The middle-aged woman's face flushed red and then turned pale as she was being scolded. "How can you speak so rudely, young lady? Aren't you two relying on men too!"

"Why waste words with them! Let's all attack together, can't we handle these three brats?" The construction foreman exhaled his smoke and called out to those behind him.

Five or six men rushed up with tools, and the first one they aimed at was the only male among the three.

Xu Yi adjusted his half-rimmed glasses and drew a gleaming scalpel from his waist.

Whether slaughtering a sheep or a person, Xu Yi's movements were equally elegant. A sharp, cold light flashed, and in just over ten seconds, the men were all lying on the ground.

Lu Sheng: "..."

As expected of a professional, Xu Yi avoided fatal spots with every strike. Although these people wouldn't die, they would be practically useless from now on.

You really can't afford to offend medical professionals.

There were a few boys on the first floor who were eager to join the construction team and get a piece of the pie.

Seeing those people lie down in less than a minute, I suddenly lost my courage and cowered behind the door, watching from afar.

Seeing the wary eyes lurking in the shadows, Lu Sheng walked up to the construction foreman and plunged a knife into his carotid artery.

To kill the chicken as a warning to the monkey.

She had to tell everyone to keep an eye on their fate, otherwise this group wouldn't stay quiet anytime soon.

"And you too." Lu Sheng drew his knife and walked towards the child's mother, slashing at her with it.

The child's mother was so frightened that she knelt down on the ground with a thud, and the tip of the knife slashed across her right cheek.

"Ouch! That hurts so much!"

A bloody ear rolled to the ground along the blade, and the child's mother lay on the ground, clutching her right cheek and wailing in pain.

"If you dare to mess with us again, next time it won't just be your ears that get lost," Lu Sheng said coldly.

After kicking aside the people lying haphazardly on the first floor, Lu Sheng and his two companions carried the supplies upstairs.
