Chapter 311 Blood Beast

Everyone in the room immediately held their breath, not daring to make a sound.

Near the door, on the wall, was a small screen, a modified household electronic peephole used as a surveillance camera. The young man tiptoed closer to the door, cautiously staring at the blurry image on the screen.

Following the young man's gaze, Lu Sheng and the others saw that the limited display area was shrouded in a layer of foggy, dirty stuff, and the entire screen was a shocking red.

It's like a red waterfall cascading down, surging and rushing in.

The little boy who had just called him "uncle" angrily swung his fist and punched the bespectacled man in the butt, his eyes filled with undisguised anger and hatred.

The bespectacled guy turned around in pain, only to find everyone behind him staring at them, the intruders, with hateful eyes.

The little boy was still not satisfied with his first punch and was about to throw another when the young man guarding the door frowned, glared at him, and grabbed his small fist.

The two stood there for a few seconds, one big and one small, before the little boy angrily withdrew his fist and turned to go back into the crowd.

Clang.

Just as the little boy turned around, an empty tin can brushed against his clothes and fell to the ground with a thud.

Glug glug.

The can rolled more than a meter from the little boy's feet and finally stopped at Lu Sheng's feet.

Lu Sheng's expression shifted slightly, and he noticed that all the natives in the room suddenly showed expressions of fear.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Three muffled, loud thuds slammed heavily against the iron door, the force of which reverberated throughout the room.

The immense force of the impact pierced through the door, sending shivers through one's very being. Empty cans on the floor bounced and rattled with each impact.

With each banging sound from outside the door, the expressions of the indigenous people inside the room grew increasingly fearful.

With a series of loud impacts, the nerves that had been stretched to their limit snapped under the strain.

The little boy pouted, grinned, and punched the bespectacled young man with a tearful voice, "It's all your fault! You killed all the zombies we finally managed to catch! You're a bad guy!"

"I... I would definitely fight zombies if I saw them... who knew they were just kept as toys by you guys..." The bespectacled guy looked aggrieved.

As soon as he finished speaking, the remaining people in the room turned their anger towards these outsiders. "What do you know! Those were zombies we specifically captured to lure the blood beasts! Now you've killed them! You bunch of jinxes! You even attracted the blood beasts here!"

This group of people used all their strength to catch a dozen or so zombies to use as bait, but they didn't expect to run into this group of unlucky people as soon as they tied them up.

Now that the bait is gone, they're all going to become food for the blood beasts!

"Alright! Everyone shut up!" The young man in the lead interrupted the crowd's complaints with a sharp voice, and quickly moved the iron cabinet near the door to block the entrance.

The rhythm of the impacts grew faster and faster, and the heavy iron door was even deformed at two corners.

A gel-like red substance, resembling raw duck blood, stealthily peeked in through the twisted cracks in the door panel.

Is...is anyone there?

"Open...open the door..."

"Open the door...let's play together..."

"Xiao Jun, aren't we friends? Open the door now!"

A strange, indistinguishable male or female voice echoed outside the door, and the sounds of impact grew increasingly frequent. The heavy metal door gradually gave way, and all four corners bent and deformed under the weight.

The dark red gel seeped in through the door cracks and quickly formed a red band around the door.

Lu Sheng glanced at the monitor on the wall and immediately felt nauseous.

A blob of indistinct, crimson, gel-like monster was piling up at the doorway, violently slamming against the door panel.

The monster had no facial features or limbs; its entire body resembled an irregularly shaped mass of fresh duck blood, trembling rhythmically with each impact.

The sound came from a dirty crack located on the monster's belly, through which two rows of sharp measuring rods could be seen opening and closing.

As the gap in the warped door panel widened, a large blob of red gel squeezed into the doorway, as if to say, "Found you!"

Accompanied by a shrill sound, a small head the size of a fist suddenly bulged up on the red mass inside the door, and there were even clear facial features on the small head!

Panic immediately filled the room, and several teenagers even burst into tears on the spot.

"You guys go first, see if you can escape through the other drain. I'll hold them off here."

The young man took a deep breath, leaned his entire body against the door, and tried to use his flesh and blood to block the monster's attack from outside.

A young woman in her early twenties standing nearby immediately growled in protest, "Lin Xiaobei! How can that be! We'll go together! I can't leave you here alone!"

"Besides...and now we'll get caught by blood beasts no matter where we go, so it's better if we all go together. Even if we die, we'll have someone to accompany us..." The girl's voice trailed off.

Lin Xiaobei gave a helpless, bitter smile. "How will you know if you don't try? At least there's a chance if you try. Are you really just going to sit here and wait to die?"

"Let them go! I'm going to stay here with you! Even if I die, I want to die with you!" the girl sobbed uncontrollably.

Lu Sheng was driven crazy by their wailing and wailing. She reached out and yanked the chattering little head out from the crack in the door, feeding it directly to the baby slug she had been rewarded for defeating the mutated slug.

The baby slug slowly and methodically swallowed the bloody lump whole, its entire body swelling into a round shape.

Immediately afterwards, Lu Sheng picked up a 40-kilogram iron hammer and slammed it four times against the already deformed door panel.

Miracles happen with brute force; Lu Sheng smashed the already cracked door shut with a few blows.

Everyone in the room: Σ(⊙▽⊙“a!

After temporarily restoring the door panel, in order to deal with the continuous huge impacts coming from outside, Lu Sheng simply released Rocket and Rabbit, two large animals that could eat and sleep well. The two chubby creatures firmly blocked the door.

What's going on with these things?

After temporarily blocking the door, Lu Sheng grabbed Lin Xiaobei's collar.

Lin Xiaobei was drenched in cold sweat and panting as he said, "Every month on the 15th, M City is attacked by blood beasts."

"These monsters have no sight and rely entirely on hearing to hunt their prey. Their bodies are voracious; anything that touches them will be quickly swallowed whole."

"We captured those zombies to distract the blood beasts, which would make it easier for us to hide ourselves. We never expected that you would kill them."

The remaining people glared at Lu Sheng and his companions with hatred, as if they wanted to tear them apart alive.

Lu Sheng succinctly extracted the key information from Lin Xiaobei's narration: "After the 15th, these things will leave on their own?"
