Chapter 383 The Sheep Village March

Tong Ziqi nervously lifted Cheng Mofan's earlobe to check, "What happened?"

"Sister, don't touch me, it hurts, it hurts..." Cheng Mofan grimaced and turned to the side to avoid it, half of his face was scrunched up, and he gasped in pain.

"Don't move!"

Tong Ziqi has a quick temper. She grabbed Cheng Mofan's shoulder and pressed him against the wall, forcibly pulling him close.

Tong Ziqi borrowed a small flashlight from Lu Sheng and held it up to Cheng Mofan's ear.

The ear canals were clean, with only a little bit of naturally secreted earwax. Both ear canals had some redness and swelling with discharge, and the ear walls near the periosteum were bulging. The entire ear canal was almost completely blocked by the red and swollen ear canal, leaving only a narrow slit.

"Your ear canal is inflamed, it's almost completely blocked, no wonder you can't hear anything," Tong Ziqi said, frowning as she released Cheng Mofan's ear.

Li Kun's expression froze. "Did something get stuck in your ear? It was fine just now, how come it suddenly got infected?"

"I don't know what's wrong, my ears have been ringing ever since I entered the corridor." Cheng Mofan spoke with a pained expression, and could only lower his voice and make the slightest sound. "It feels like someone is working on my ears with a hammer, and it hurts so much that I see stars."

Sun Tiantian made an ice pop for Cheng Mofan to use as an ice pack, "Then why didn't you say so?"

"I'm just worried about affecting everyone's progress. I'm a grown man, why would I be so delicate?"

Cheng Mofan managed a weak smile, then his expression changed, and he covered his mouth, turned around, ran to the corner, and vomited.

"What's wrong..." Zhang Xiaojuan went over to help Cheng Mofan up and temporarily settled him in a clean corner on the other side.

Seeing that Cheng Mofan was pale and unsteady on his feet, Lu Sheng and the others decided to slow down and give him some time to rest.

But just as Xu Yi was taking a break to apply medicine to Cheng Mofan, several people in the group began to experience physical discomfort.

The first to collapse was Li Kun. He was rummaging through his spatial storage for Cheng Mofan to rest when suddenly cold sweat broke out on his forehead. He clutched his chest and collapsed to the ground.

If Tong Ziqi hadn't caught him with her quick reflexes, he would have at least suffered a concussion.

Following closely behind were Han Rui and Sun Tiantian, who, like Cheng Mofan, experienced ear canal inflammation and hearing loss.

"It feels like someone is drilling into my ears, and my whole head hurts terribly." Sun Tiantian's face was pale, and she forced a smile.

With several members of the team experiencing health issues, Lu Sheng and the others were forced to temporarily halt their progress.

The ear is one of the most vulnerable organs in the human body.

Because of the lack of a fat layer for protection, the ear is easily damaged by various external forces. Also, because it is rich in nerves and connects to both the brain and nasal cavity, damage to the ear can lead to certain degrees of disease in other organs.

Physical pain can be endured, but neuralgia is like a bone scraper, slowly eroding a person's will.

Even the strongest person can feel like they're living a life worse than death and lose their will to fight when tormented by neuralgia.

It is no coincidence that nearly half of the team members experienced hearing loss and severe ear nerve pain.

What's puzzling is that after checking each other, none of them could find any pathogens that could cause tinnitus and hearing loss; there wasn't even a small flying insect in their ears.

While everyone was at a loss, their teammates' condition was rapidly deteriorating.

Cheng Mofan, the first to fall ill, was lying on the ground in a daze, and the rest of the people also began to experience weakness, nausea and vomiting.

Zhang Xiaojuan, who is usually as strong as an ox, sat weakly on the ground, arranging for two little clay figures to massage her temples on either side. "Sister Lu, my great-grandmother is coming to pick me up soon. My heart has stopped pounding several times."

Tong Ziqi forced herself to take out her radio. "I'll send a message to Gu Wen and the others. If they haven't seen us by tomorrow, they should find their own way out."

The radio was turned on, and a buzzing sound of electricity filled the air.

Tong Ziqi tried to adjust it several times with difficulty, but the static continued to crackle.

"It failed at the crucial moment." She slammed her hand on the radio in frustration, and the machine, which had been buzzing, suddenly went silent.

Tong Ziqi was both angry and anxious, and spat out a mouthful of bright red blood.

Lu Sheng frowned and glanced at it. The viscous blood contained some small fragments that looked like internal organs.

At the same time, the chandelier on the ceiling seemed to malfunction, flickering erratically.

The flashing lights further aggravated the already oppressive atmosphere in the corridor.

Cheng Mofan and Li Kun lay on the ground, unconsciously scratching at the air, making strange and terrified noises.

A sense of helplessness and despair gradually spread among the group.

If it were a zombie or supernatural attack, Lu Sheng could retaliate without hesitation. But now they couldn't see or pinpoint the source of the attack.

Just as Lu Sheng was about to bend down to check on Sun Tiantian and the others, Xu Yi's deep voice suddenly came from behind him, "Don't worry."

A large, bony hand then covered Lu Sheng's small ears.

"Don't underestimate me just because I'm a sheep~"

"The green grass smells even better because of me~"

"The sky is bluer because of me~"

"The white clouds become softer because of me~"

The next second, the classic and familiar theme song of Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf blared out at an extremely loud volume.

Lu Sheng frowned slightly as he noticed a Bluetooth player had appeared on the ground sometime earlier.

Xu Yi turned the volume up to the maximum, and the upbeat music kept assaulting Lu Sheng's eardrums with its strong rhythm.

"I'll do it myself."

Lu Sheng calmly broke free from Xu Yi's hand and raised her hand to protect her ears.

"Teacher Xu...you're the boss of Sheep Village?" Zhang Xiaojuan looked distressed, struggling to sit up and gasping for breath.

The loud volume constantly stimulated the already fragile nerves of everyone present, and the expressions of the few people who had already fallen ill became even more painful and unbearable.

Although everyone was curious, they didn't ask any more questions out of trust in Xu Yi.

“Teacher Xu must have his reasons for doing this.” Sun Tiantian said weakly, but still managed to express her support for Xu Yi.

After the stirring theme song of Sheep Village played several times, Zhang Xiaojuan suddenly touched her chest in surprise, "Hey? My heart doesn't hurt anymore?!"

The pale faces of Sun Tiantian and the others gradually regained some color.

"Give them some." Xu Yi took out two bottles of medicine, gave half to Lu Sheng, and then instructed him.

Lu Sheng nodded, and the two of them, one on each side, began to feed the pills to the patient who was lying haphazardly on the ground.

After taking a few pills, the group finally recovered.

Cheng Mofan and Li Kun also slowly woke up, staring at each other with wide eyes, their foreheads propped up, completely bewildered as they looked at the player that was still playing "Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf".

"It's alright now."

Seeing that everyone had mostly recovered, Xu Yi bent down and turned off the player, then pushed up his glasses. "We were just attacked by infrasound."
