The heavy, bloated corpse crashed to the ground with a thud, sending up a powerful tremor and kicking up a cloud of yellow sand that further obscured the already blurred vision.
Dark green rotting flesh and blood splattered around Lu Sheng and the others' feet, immediately staining Lu Sheng's sheepskin boots with several dirty spots.
"This thing is quite powerful? And it's dyed?" Zhang Xiaojuan looked down at it in surprise.
"Awesome! Sister Lu slayed QQ Hero!" Zhao Mujia exclaimed with admiration.
Lu Sheng plunged his long sword into the scorching yellow sand, his expression serious. "Stop joking around, let's get out of the quicksand area first."
The vortex beneath their feet seemed to possess an inexplicable suction force, invisibly gripping Lu Sheng and the others' calves and dragging them downwards.
Han Rui conjured several giant carrots to serve as stepping stones for the group, who then helped each other as they struggled to make their way towards the outer edge of the vortex.
Just as the group was focused on dealing with the tricky quicksand beneath their feet, a small sand dune quietly rose up behind them. The dune moved silently, then stealthily moved closer to the group.
The endless yellow sand not only affects visibility, but also impairs perception to some extent.
Lu Sheng and the others were focused on breaking free from the quicksand beneath their feet and did not notice the small sand dune that was gradually approaching behind them.
The small sand dune crept furtively outside the range of normal perception, lurking for a few seconds before swiftly targeting the back of the group, where Zhao Mujia was pushing Zhuangzhuang's burly buttocks forward.
"Zhao Mujia!"
When Lu Sheng sensed the sudden intrusion, he immediately turned around and launched a gas blast towards the sand dune.
Zhao Mujia paused upon hearing the sound and instinctively looked behind her.
But by then the small dune had already rushed to within 30 centimeters of him, leaving no time to react.
A rustling sound of shells rubbing together rang out.
A much larger, multi-headed sand worm suddenly sprang out from underground and bit Zhao Mujia's backpack.
Lu Sheng's air blast injured the sandworm's abdominal wall, and the huge monster let out a painful cry before leaping into the nearby sand pit.
The whole process took less than a second; the monster that had just sprung up vanished without a trace, like water evaporating.
Zhao Mujia also disappeared along with him, leaving only a flashy Chelsea boot in the same spot.
"Oh no..." Zhang Xiaojuan immediately rushed over and frantically dug at the sand with her hands while lying on the ground.
There wasn't a single hair beneath the yellow sand; Zhao Mujia and the sandworms vanished completely.
"What should we do? Is the person in danger if they've been carried away?"
The thought of the multi-headed sand worm's gaping maw, filled with dense teeth, sent a shiver down Zhang Xiaojuan's spine. One bite, and she'd be turned into dumpling filling...
Lu Sheng immediately turned around. "I hit it. It probably won't live much longer. Let's keep searching. The sandworm should still be nearby."
After struggling to escape the quicksand, the group immediately split into two teams to search for Zhao Mujia and the sandworms from different directions.
Lu Sheng took out rubber shovels from his spatial storage and distributed them to everyone. The two teams worked hard, turning over the endless sand beneath their feet, while loudly calling out Zhao Mujia's name.
"Mujia! Come home for dinner!"
Zhang Xiaojuan's slightly hoarse voice echoed on the sand, with only the howling wind responding to him.
The group had just searched a distance of about ten meters when Zhuangzhuang suddenly stopped, his two furry ears perking up like little antennas. "Many indicators are approaching, and they're moving very fast..."
As soon as Zhuangzhuang's meowing ended, a chilling rustling sound suddenly filled the air around them.
It sounded like a hundred spoons scraping against a stainless steel bowl, making one feel extremely uncomfortable from head to toe.
The sand beneath my feet suddenly trembled irregularly, as if I were stepping on a foam sponge, swaying back and forth with each step.
Accompanied by an increasingly loud rustling sound, countless sand dunes of all sizes rose rapidly from afar, surging one after another towards the direction where the group was located.
"We've fallen into a sandworm's nest!" Xiao Yu immediately pulled out the water gun Lu Sheng had given him and started spraying water wildly at the rapidly gathering sand dunes.
The immense pressure of the water jets slammed onto the sand dunes, and the pained sandworms immediately shrieked and sprang out, opening their gaping maws to pounce on Lu Sheng and the others.
A curtain of water swept across, and the field of vision was already filled with a churning sea of insects.
"Run!" Zhang Xiaojuan shouted, grabbing Han Rui by the collar and running for her life.
The group exchanged glances and then ran with all their might towards the safe zone.
The desert behind them was like boiling water, with sand dunes constantly emerging to follow the few people who were running desperately.
Each step felt weightless, and I struggled to move forward, stumbling along.
Soon, everyone discovered a horrifying truth.
They ran for ages but couldn't even get two meters out.
The sandworms galloped relentlessly behind them, but the sand beneath their feet flowed like water, quickly engulfing their ankles and calves.
The rate at which the shifting sands are burying the land is accelerating.
It only took ten seconds to spread from my calves to my buttocks.
Zhuangzhuang, who has the shortest legs, was already submerged up to his neck by the flowing water.
Zhuangzhuang struggled to paddle through the quicksand with its four chubby legs. The intense feeling of suffocation made it paddle faster than ever before. "Human, help me!"
Lu Sheng lifted Zhuangzhuang up with one hand and stuffed him back into his spatial storage. He calmly called out to the others, "Xiao Yu, wet this sand with water first!"
After Lu Sheng's reminder, Xiao Yu and Sun Tiantian immediately grasped how to use the Martial Soul Fusion Skill.
Xiao Yu first used a water gun to soak a large area of sand under her feet, and then Sun Tiantian used her ice-type ability to instantly freeze the soaked sand.
