Chapter 58 Earth-type Talent Awakener

After finishing a set of stretching exercises, the silver-haired man took a small bottle of liquor from the car and drank it down.

Lu Sheng was about to continue removing the guardrail when the silver-haired man suddenly stretched out his hands and made a downward pressing gesture.

As the silver-haired man moved his hands, the asphalt road surface of the highway, which was compacted by snow, shook violently and cracked open, creating a huge fissure in the ground!

The gap stretched from where Lu Sheng and the others were standing all the way to the far end of the accident scene, a distance of several hundred meters.

As the fissure in the ground continued to extend and widen, the cars and zombie corpses that were originally piled up on the road fell down the sloping road surface into the bottomless abyss.

Controlling such a massive fissure in the earth would be an extremely heavy burden for superhumans in the early days of the apocalypse.

The silver-haired man was covered in sweat, his face was flushed, and his arms were trembling slightly.

The silver-haired man only breathed a sigh of relief after all the obstacles on the road had fallen into the ground.

As he withdrew his hand, the huge crack in the ground instantly closed, and apart from the snow on this section of the road being buried underground by the car, everything seemed as if nothing had happened.

"Am I handsome?"

Even though he could barely stand, the silver-haired man still couldn't resist showing off his good looks to Lu Sheng and the others.

"Brother, awesome." Xiao Yu couldn't help but give a thumbs up.

The silver-haired man gave a roguish smile, then closed his eyes and lay flat on the ground.

Lu Sheng and the others: "..."

Xiao Yu helped the silver-haired man into the car, and Xu Yi gave him a quick check-up. "He's fine, just overworked."

There was Red Bull in the car. Xiao Yu used one hand to pry open the silver-haired man's mouth, and with the other hand, she manipulated the Red Bull to flow from the bottle into the silver-haired man's mouth.

Lu Sheng calmly observed the silver-haired man.

Even in the apocalypse, the gap between people is still greater than the gap between people and dogs.

Even among awakened individuals of the same lineage, there can be significant differences in strength due to variations in their innate talents.

Talented awakeners can use advanced skills in the early stages of awakening, while ordinary people without talent, even if they accumulate crystal cores infinitely, will always have an upper limit that they can never break through.

Books always say that success is 99 percent effort and 1 percent talent.

Yet no one has ever honestly told the world that a genius only needs one percent of talent to overcome 99 percent of the effort of an ordinary person.

While cleaning up the chainsaw, Lu Sheng found a driver's license on the ground, which the silver-haired man had dropped when he fainted.

I opened it casually and saw the name was Zhang Xiaojuan.

Zhang Xiaojuan was actually him?!

Lu Sheng raised an eyebrow slightly, somewhat surprised.

In her previous life, she had heard that there was a super powerful earth-type ability user named Zhang Xiaojuan in the largest base in the capital. When she and Sun Tiantian were bored, they even guessed what kind of heroic and valiant girl she must be.

But who would have thought that Zhang Xiaojuan was a burly man from Northeast China?

"Cough cough..."

After downing a bottle of Red Bull, the silver-haired man finally opened his eyes.

"Juan... Brother Juan, are you alright?" Xiao Yu hesitated for a moment, then forced herself to call out.

Zhang Xiaojuan's face shifted from confidence to doubt to avoidance, with an expression that said she'd rather be dead. "Brother, just call me Brother Zhang."

“My grandmother is superstitious. She heard from the village fortune teller that I have a bad fate and should be given a girl’s name.”

Zhang Xiaojuan gave an awkward explanation and casually threw her ID card, driver's license, and everything else that could prove her identity out of the car.

Xiao Yu: "..."

"If you have nothing else, we'll be leaving." Lu Sheng coldly gestured for Xiao Yu to get into the car.

In her previous life, Zhang Xiaojuan had a good reputation; everyone said she was a righteous and generous person.

But Lu Sheng had no intention of making any connections; he believed it was better to rely on himself than on anyone else.

"Are you planning to go to the shelter in Yunshan District? I'm going there too, let's go together." Zhang Xiaojuan rolled down her car window and drove up in her Wrangler.

Lu Sheng didn't want to talk to him, but Zhang Xiaojuan couldn't see through Lu Sheng's indifference at all. She kept the car window open and chatted with Lu Sheng and the others from time to time.

"We don't know each other well, so having more friends means having more options."

"Don't let my good looks fool you, I'm not a bad guy."

"Little sister, have you always been this introverted?"

"My little sister doesn't like to chat, and neither do you two guys?"

Lu Sheng: "..."

Is there any medicine that can make someone mute? I need help urgently.

"Northeasterners are naturally outgoing and friendly." Sun Tiantian is very affectionate towards people from her hometown.

With Zhang Xiaojuan chattering away the whole way, the journey of a few hours passed quickly as we reached our destination.

The Yunshan base was originally an abandoned arsenal that once developed several important military equipment in China.

The outer perimeter of the base is very sturdy, with raised and fixed sentry posts every few meters, and even gun emplacements on the walls.

The base has three entrances and exits, but only the main gate is currently open.

There were armed guards at the entrance, and two civilian staff members were sitting at a table to register the information of people entering the base.

Hundreds of cars were already parked outside the main gate, most of them battered and bruised from their journeys. Two lines of hundreds of people waited in line, shivering in the cold, for their vehicles to be inspected.

Lu Sheng and the others parked their car temporarily on the outer ring and walked to the end of the group.

Most of the people in line were healthy men and women in their prime, but they all had bruises on their bodies, showing that they had suffered a lot.

Occasionally, there are some elderly people and underage children. It is usually because large families have a lot of young and strong men who have managed to escape here.

Before entering the base, one must undergo a series of inquiries and checks, and it takes an average of ten minutes to allow one person to pass through.

Lu Sheng and his group waited for several hours before they could finally see the base gate.

"Do you have superpowers?"

The officer in charge of the review asked the young woman at the front of the line.

The woman had a scar running across her face, and she covered it with her right hand, saying softly, "No."

"No special abilities? 10 crystal cores for entry." The officer looked the woman's face up and down, appearing impatient.

"Didn't the broadcast say that any survivors could come?" The young woman's voice trembled with tears as she raised her voice in agitation. "You've taken taxpayers' money, so you should serve the people!"

Before she could finish speaking, the young woman was picked up by two armed guards and thrown into a snowdrift.

"What time is it? Still dreaming? Let me tell you all, the base doesn't support idlers. Don't even think about sneaking in to freeload."

The officer scoffed and beckoned to the next survivor.

In addition to exchanging crystal cores, you also need to have someone check your body for any signs of being bitten by zombies in a small house next door.

Lu Sheng watched as several people, who were turned away because of their injuries, knelt on the snow and wept bitterly.

"Do you have superpowers? If not, exchange crystal cores."

When Lu Sheng and his group arrived, the officer in charge of the review was leaning against a big tree, looking rather dismissive.

Lu Sheng snapped his fingers.

The massive electric arc charred the withered tree next to the examiner.
