"My goodness," Kuang Qianli froze in his tracks. "Say it again? What are they? Rifles? Flamethrowers? Heavy machine guns!"
Kuang Qianli: "Really? Really?"
Qiao Xuejun walked back to the cubicle: "The shelter has been updated and upgraded, and the functions are achievable."
Kuang Qianli followed her and couldn't help but sigh, "Qiao Qiao, customizing this shelter was the best decision you made! It's so cool, and there are even weapons."
Zhao Linlin, who was in the cubicle, also heard it and asked, "The broadcast just said they were distributing guns! Did you hear that?"
Qiao Xuejun: "I heard. They're not distributing guns, they're upgrading them. These weapons are fixed to the walls of the shelter. The barrels can be extended, and people can only operate them from inside the wall."
It is still very restrictive. It is an upgrade to the shelter and is not directly given to them.
But it was enough for them to clear the snow and avoid being buried.
Kuang Qianli said, "That's pretty impressive! No wonder the walls of our shelter are so thick. It turns out there's a secret hidden within. After the upgrade is complete, I'll have to study it and see what the structural design is."
Kuang Qianli added: "I don't know if the base will be buried in the snow."
Qiao Xuejun: "The base has defensive works, it's okay."
Zhao Linlin nodded. "I participated, too. We built a wooden roof at the entrance of the base. It has a double slope to drain snow to both sides. We also did some work on the greenhouse."
The greenhouse itself is arched, with a high load-bearing capacity, which is conducive to snow removal. Qiao Xuejun was not too worried. She was mainly worried about her people from the Ministry of Agriculture. They needed to come out of the base to check the status of the greenhouse and stables.
Needs to be taken care of every day.
If you go back and forth without taking adequate measures to keep warm, you may easily get frostbite.
However, the greenhouse is located in the back mountain, close to the base. As long as they bring their three meals a day and stay in the greenhouse, they can spend the day in warmth.
As long as they were careful, the chances of an accident would be very low. Qiao Xuejun had emphasized this point to them in a special meeting before they returned to the shelter.
Qiao Xuejun took the cooked potatoes off the stove and let them cool.
While waiting, she used the radio to communicate with someone from the Ministry of Agriculture.
Xiao Feng on the other end immediately responded, "Got it, got it. Minister! Good morning! Have you eaten?"
Qiao Xuejun said, "Well, what about you guys?"
"Uncle Zhang packed us a day's worth of food this morning. We'll take it here and put it on the air conditioner to warm it up. We'll go back after dinner."
“How are the crops doing normally?”
Xiao Feng: "Minister, please wait a minute. I'll go get my notes and report yesterday's record to you."
While the two were chatting, Zhao Linlin helped Qiao Xuejun peel the potatoes, put them on a plate, and sprinkled pepper and salt on them for her.
He got up and went out again, and soon came back with a piece of chicken that was frozen hard.
This is the leftover chicken from yesterday’s Rudina chicken meal. Since I didn’t finish it, I took it outside and froze it naturally to keep it fresh.
Take it out and thaw it now and eat it at noon.
She also took out a few rutin eggs and gave three to each person: "Let's eat."
As she spoke, she also helped Qiao Xuejun peel the shells of Rudin's eggs and put them into the plate of potatoes in front of her.
Qiao Xuejun gently patted Zhao Linlin's head, gave her an egg from the plate, and continued talking to Xiao Feng: "--Got it. The temperature control needs to be tested well, and the tomato seedlings need to be paid special attention to."
Zhao Linlin put the egg back on Qiao Xuejun's plate: "Boss, eat more."
She stood up again, opened a cabinet against the wall next to her, and took out a jar and a pair of chopsticks from the top shelf.
She opened the jar, took out the vegetables and put them on the plates of Kuang Qianli and Qiao Xuejun.
It's spicy and sour sea cabbage.
One of the algae and mosses Qiao Xuejun brought back from the city last time. Sea cabbage was planted in the shelter after it was brought back. The ripe ones were picked, boiled, and shredded to make hot and sour sea cabbage.
It looks similar to cold kelp salad.
The taste is smooth, crispy and tender, with the addition of red sour and chili oil, which makes it sour and spicy, stimulating the taste buds and very refreshing.
Zhao Linlin liked to eat this, so Dr. Wang made several cans for her.
After opening the instant noodles, she would eat them like a side dish with every meal, taking out a little bit to go with the main meal.
Kuang Qianli held the plate and asked her for more. "Give me some more."
Zhao Linlin carefully closed the lid of the jar and said, "That's enough. We can't cook anything else after we finish it. We're almost done with all the chili peppers we've stockpiled."
Qiao Xuejun had stockpiled some basic seasonings at the beginning, and they would buy them back if they had any later when they went to collect supplies.
I usually eat very frugally, and it's been almost two years, and there's still some left.
Now the less we have in stock, the more economical we eat.
Zhao Linlin asked, "Boss, can peppers be grown in a greenhouse?"
Qiao Xuejun: "We can consider it if we expand it further."
It is currently impossible to grow them. Most of the crops grown now are early-maturing, high-yielding vegetables. Even if you want to grow peppers, you can only plant a few.
However, you can get two plots of land in the shelter to plant crops.
Xiao Feng was still reporting on the growth data of the crops when he heard someone mention peppers. He asked, "Minister, what did you have for breakfast? I just heard the sound of eggs being cracked."
Qiao Xuejun looked at her plate and simply named the dish: "Salt and pepper roasted potatoes, spicy and sour shredded sea cabbage, and three small diced eggs."
Qiao Xuejun heard Xiao Feng swallowing his saliva.
There is no sea lettuce at the base, but there are rutin eggs, but they are only supplied to people with severe malnutrition, who normally cannot eat them.
He said, "We had a great meal too. We had three potato pancakes! Soft, big pancakes with sprouts and jelly mushrooms inside. They tasted like meat!"
