The elongated and thickened razor clams, about half a meter long, were crawling on the ground of their shelter.
The two shells open and close.
Wang Juanfeng: "...it seems that it can't fly."
Marine life can't fly. But this statement is not out of place now, because there are a lot of flying creatures in the sky.
Kuang Qianli: "It doesn't look like there's any harm."
"Open the door and see?"
Qiao Xuejun: “No.”
She had no idea about the situation of this thing. She remembered that the system had said before that mutant creatures were aggressive towards humans, so the defense system of the shelter had to be upgraded.
"Look at the stone underneath!" Wang Juanfeng suddenly widened his eyes.
Continuous heavy rains have washed away the mountain, and now there are large pieces of rocks at their doorstep. This giant clam is lying flat on the ground, spitting out water, which has gathered into a pool under its body.
Where the water was, the stone was sunken, as if it had been corroded by the water spit out by the clams.
Wang Juanfeng was a little surprised and said, "Yesterday, it was all flat there."
Kuang Qianli: "Outrageous... Is it spitting out concentrated sulfuric acid?"
The little carpenter: "Is it because the acid rain has turned the ocean acidic that they are spitting out acid water?"
"What would happen if it spit water at people?"
When Qiao Xuejun asked this question, everyone was silent. If this acid water could corrode even stone, then it would be easy for it to corrode human skin.
Qiao Xuejun thought about it, found a white cotton mask from the room, and went back to the door. She quickly opened the door a crack, threw the mask towards Clam, and immediately closed the door after dropping it.
“Squeak——”
The clam reacted quickly by spraying a stream of water towards the white cotton mask, and suddenly jumped up, like a bamboo arrow, and pierced directly through the center of the mask.
Everyone was stunned.
Wang Juanfeng tugged at Kuang Qianli's sleeve: "Did you just say that it didn't look harmful?"
Kuang Qianli: "I was wrong."
The white cotton mask was made by Wang Juanfeng and the others. It was made of several layers of cotton cloth and cotton. It was thick, but the clam pierced through it immediately. If it was a human body, with this strength, it would probably be pierced through too.
Qiao Xuejun frowned and looked at it for a while: "But it seems that it can't get out. It has trapped itself in it."
It rolled on the ground, but the white cotton mask was on its body, preventing it from breaking free.
It rolled around in puddles of acid water wearing a white cotton mask, but it was of no use.
Qiao Xuejun: "It turns out that this acid water is not as terrible as we imagined."
She thought the mask would sizzle and dissolve as soon as it fell into the water. But now it seems that although the mask is wet, it has not changed much. The reason why the stone has been corroded is probably because of some time.
It will not be corroded immediately upon contact.
"At present, there are two scary things about the mutant creatures. One is the acid water, which is corrosive. The other is the attack power, which is very fast." Qiao Xuejun concluded.
There may be others, but they have not yet manifested themselves and need further observation.
"I still can't believe it. This is real. Am I dreaming?" Kuang Qianli sighed.
Wang Juanfeng's voice was still trembling: "It's not a dream. Ever since the high temperature started, everything has been abnormal."
"Anything that happens now is not surprising."
"It's so cold." Kuang Qianli complained, "Aren't these mutant creatures afraid of the cold? Let's go back and listen to what the radio says."
Qiao Xuejun: "You guys go back first, remember to add firewood to the stove, I'll watch for a while."
The giant clam on the ground was still rolling on the ground, opening and closing its shells constantly, trying to break free from the mask.
But the white cotton mask always held it tightly and it couldn't break free.
Qiao Xuejun watched it for 10 minutes, but it couldn't break free from the mask. Just when Qiao Xuejun was planning to go and warm up first and come back to watch, she saw a big crab crawling in from somewhere. It was a blue crab, and its shell alone looked to be more than one meter long.
It becomes longer with the addition of the pincers and feet.
It crawled towards the clam and stood in front of it. Its two black bean-like eyes bulged out. It raised its pincers and bit the clam's body, then closed it and squeezed hard.
“Crack!”
Under the big claws, the clam's body broke into two and its shell shattered.
The crab clamped the clam's body with one claw and used the other claw to dig into its shell, taking out the meat and eating it.
After a while, only two empty shells and a white cotton mask still covered with the broken shells were left.
The huge blue crab adjusted its claws, looked around with its eyes bulging, found a direction and crawled away.
Qiao Xuejun was surprised and a little frightened when she saw this.
After she finished reading, she returned to the cubicle. Her three teammates were all by the stove, eating the potatoes she had baked earlier.
Qiao Xuejun couldn't help but said, "You guys can still eat."
The little carpenter ate the most. He looked up at Qiao Xuejun and said eagerly, "You still have to eat. If you don't eat, you'll be hungry."
Planer was squatting nearby, also eating the dog food in the dry bowl.
Everyone was eating and drinking as usual, as if nothing had changed. Qiao Xuejun suddenly felt less scared. She was right. No matter what, she had to keep living. She sat down and told him about the crabs that she had seen eating clams at the door.
"It's terrible. Why don't you ask us to go and see it together?" Wang Juanfeng asked.
Qiao Xuejun: "You said it was scary, but we still need to watch it."
"...Our station reports... According to reliable information from the First Base, the most common mutant organisms are currently mollusks and shallow-water crustaceans."
