Chapter 159 An Extra Little Monster
Sui Cheng was suddenly called to the laboratory. When he left, Lu Zhi was still asleep, so he didn't wake him up.
When he returned, he was carrying a box, kind of like the kind used to carry cats, with a small creature lying inside.
Sui Ling was nestled on the sofa watching TV when she saw him return. She immediately jumped up, walked quickly towards him, circled the box he had placed on the floor a few times, and asked curiously, "Brother, are we going to keep something as a pet?"
The passenger rubbed his temples helplessly. This was a bit absurd, and he didn't know how to explain it.
"This is what the lab asked me to bring back."
"Bang!" The sudden sound of the door opening interrupted his words.
Lu Zhi had a stern face, looking as if he were facing a formidable enemy. He twitched his nose and smelled a strange, foreign scent in the room. Although it was weak, it made him very wary.
He eventually found the source of the smell: the box that his passenger had placed on the ground.
"Why did you bring back this alien?" Lu Zhi asked resentfully, as if he had seen his wife not only cheating on him but also blatantly bringing her lover back, which was a provocation to him, the legal wife.
Sui Cheng rubbed his temples; it seemed the alien species' territorial instincts had kicked in.
He quickly walked up to Lu Zhi, grabbed his hand, and held it firmly in his palm, explaining, "Professor Zhang gave this to me."
"What would I do with you? Aren't I enough for you at home? What if you raise other mutant species!" Lu Zhi questioned sharply, the vines in his hand throbbing as if he wanted to throw the thing away immediately.
"Calm down!" The attendant's tone became more serious.
Lu Zhi stared at him without saying a word, his expression visibly turning aggrieved, his eyes reddening as if he were about to cry.
Sui Cheng rubbed his temples, pulled him toward the bedroom, and reminded Sui Ling to keep an eye on that thing.
After pulling Lu Zhi into the bedroom, she pushed him onto the bed.
After everyone sat down, Sui Cheng straddled him without hooking his arm around his neck. Half of his body was hanging in the air, and Lu Zhi, worried that he would fall, quickly put his arm around his waist and asked knowingly, "What are you doing?"
"To coax you, listen to me first, okay?" Sui Cheng pressed his face against his, and Lu Zhi turned his head slightly, the kiss landing on the corner of his lips.
He frowned slightly, adopting a serious expression, and nodded, saying, "Then explain first, what is that thing outside?"
"The embryo that Xuan Linwen brought," the servant said truthfully.
Lu Zhi paused for a moment, then quickly realized what was happening and asked in confusion, "How did you suddenly come back to life? And grow so big all of a sudden? Weren't you half-dead before?"
After returning from Yanning City, they handed over the half-dead Zhong Ling and her brother, as well as the black crystal core that Lu Zhi had discovered, to the laboratory.
Zhang Jun went into seclusion for more than half a month, and finally emerged looking disheveled, having failed to figure anything out.
This morning, someone from the lab came to see me, saying that Zhang Jun wanted to talk to him about the embryo.

“Not exactly,” the attendant explained. “Your attitude toward the aliens has always been unclear. There are still people at the base who are worried that you are closer to the aliens or humans, or neither. We have to give them an answer.”
“I don’t kiss anyone else, only you.” Lu Zhi followed his heart, his warm lips landing on his neck, their breaths lingering. “You know, I don’t like other species because of my own territorial instincts. I don’t like humans because I am an other species, and there is racial conflict. But I only like you because you are my companion. Everything I have today is for you.”
"Stop with the mushy talk." Sui Cheng pushed his head away, his ears already burning. "Then it's decided. Let's raise it for a while, and you can observe this little monster to see what's so special about it."
"Alright then," Lu Zhi reluctantly agreed.
