Chapter 100 Mental Storage
The lawyer originally thought that the attendant would go directly to Dang Hongyuan and the others to discuss this matter.
But he didn't. He remained cautious and went to the interrogation room again. Unlike the lawyers, he didn't sneak around. Instead, he went openly, letting all the guards know that he had gone to see Xuan Linwen.
Xuan Linwen was surprised by his arrival, but after Sui Cheng spoke, he understood the reason for his visit.
Because the questions asked by the passenger were all ones that he had just told the law master not long ago.
He had thought that the journey was to learn about those who pursued the Vinaya, but it turned out not to be, and he was somewhat disappointed.
After about half an hour, the passenger left and went directly to find Dang Hongyuan.
He told Xuan Linwen that he had betrayed the New Generation faction and that he was about to face an endless wave of pursuit.
Upon hearing this, the two men's expressions grew even more solemn.
Yang Xie immediately said, "You can't go back like this. I want to go with you."
He was worried that Dang Hongyuan might encounter danger on the road.
"Calm down first." Dang Hongyuan grasped Yang Xie's hand. He knew what Yang Xie was worried about. Seeing that he had calmed down, he asked Sui Cheng, "Did Xuan Linwen say what he brought out from the New Generation Sect?"
Sui Cheng shook his head and said, "He will definitely use this to save his life, and he certainly won't tell us easily."
Dang Hongyuan rubbed his temples. Luckily, he found out about this before setting off. If he had been on the road by now, he might have encountered some kind of ambush.
"Luckily, you're here." Dang Hongyuan sighed and said, "Let's wait a few days before deciding on the return trip and see if we can get anything out of Xuan Linwen."
“Actually, we don’t need to wait,” Yang Xie said coldly. “Why don’t we trap them like turtles in a jar?”
"For the new generation to go to such lengths, what Xuan Linwen has must be extraordinary, and the new generation certainly wouldn't send ordinary members to intercept and kill him."
Dang Hongyuan and Yang Xie understood each other perfectly and immediately grasped the meaning behind his words.
We can deliberately set traps, wait for the new generation to take the bait, and then capture them in one fell swoop.
Dang Hongyuan asked him, "What do you plan to do?"
Yang Xie narrowed his eyes and said, "Give me a map."
Dang Hongyuan quickly found a map and spread it on the table.
Yang Xie twirled the pen in his hand, looking thoughtfully at the map. After a long while, as if he had thought of something, he looked at his attendant and asked, "How is that Cui Xiuyuan doing?"
The topic suddenly shifted to Cui Xiuyuan. Sui Cheng was taken aback for a moment, but quickly realized what was going on and said, "He's still in Haicheng, being watched by the Fifth Team."
"What do you plan to do with them?" Dang Hongyuan had heard about Yang Xie and his group catching a person and a cat on the road when he first arrived in Haicheng, but he had been too busy these past few days to go and see them.
"We will pass through here on our way, in Tai'an City, and there is also a road from here that leads to Tai'an."
"Are you planning to ambush us here?"
Dang Hongyuan pulled the pen that was dangling from his hand, then drew a line on the map and said, "But it takes too long to get to Tai'an from here."
It will take at least a day and a night.
"So we're setting off now."
Yang Xie led his team to set off first, while Dang Hongyuan would set off with Xuan Linwen early the next morning as planned.
If the new faction is cautious, they will definitely not make a move as soon as they leave Haicheng, because Haicheng's reinforcements will arrive much faster.
Therefore, Tai'an City is a very good place to start.
But they can't just leave Haicheng suddenly; they need a reason, and Cui Xiuyuan will be that reason.
After listening to his plan, Dang Hongyuan frowned and pondered, saying, "If that's the case, we can slow down our journey so that you have enough time to prepare after you arrive in Tai'an City."
Yang Xie nodded and added, "We also need to be careful about their mental manipulation."
“I have something here that should work.” Dang Hongyuan took out a Rubik’s Cube-shaped metal block from his equipment box. “It’s a new mental energy storage device developed by the laboratory. We can store mental energy in it, and once activated, it can withstand some mental energy attacks.”
The passenger asked in surprise, "Did Professor Zhang Jun research this?"
"Who else could it be but him?"
They all knew Zhang Jun's strength, and he himself was a psychic ability user. The Rubik's Cube in Dang Hongyun's hand contained his psychic power.
Yang Xie stroked his chin and said, "Then let's gather all the psychic ability users together."
Dang Hongyuan brought more than one of these devices. The mental energy emanating from each device had a range of two meters, which might be enough for their use.
Sui Cheng thought of Lü Zhi's abnormal mental power, so he asked Dang Hongyuan for one.
"Besides those with psychic abilities, ordinary people with abilities also have psychic powers. I want to try and see if it works."
Dang Hongyuan hesitated for a few seconds, but still took one and gave it to the passenger.
Once the discussion was over, Yang Xie immediately gathered his troops.
The only people who went to Tai'an City with him beforehand were the accompanying convoy; they couldn't bring too many people, or they would be suspected.
Dang Hongyuan was to lead three teams, including Ming Tongguang and Xu Fei.
When Dang Hongyuan heard Yang Xie say he wouldn't bring Ming Tongguang, he said somewhat displeased, "What will you do if you encounter danger?"
Yang Xie reassured him, "Bringing them along will only attract attention. Can you have some faith in me?"
Dang Hongyuan turned his face away. He was confident in Yang Xie's abilities, but he was still worried.
The passenger was forced to witness their public display of affection, and after saying a word to Dang Hongyuan, he quietly left.
He gripped the mental storage device tightly and strode outside. In the twilight, Lu Zhi's shadow was elongated, as if he had been waiting there for a long time. Upon seeing him come out, he strode over.
"Have you been waiting outside the whole time?" the passenger asked him.
Lu Zhi nodded and said, "Well, I don't have anything else to do anyway, so I might as well wait for you."
"Did you hear everything?" The attendant walked alongside him.
"Yes, I heard everything." Lü Zhi skillfully took his hand and touched the mental storage device in his palm.
The attendant simply shoved the thing into his hand and said, "Try it."
"good."
Lu Zhi held the device and poured his mental energy into it. He sensed the device's peculiarity and raised an eyebrow, saying, "That Zhang Jun guy is quite capable."
"Hmm?" The attendant didn't understand why he suddenly brought this up. He glanced at the device in his hand again and asked, "Is there something wrong with this device?"
“Let me put it this way, mental energy is invisible.” Lu Zhi shoved the device filled with mental energy back into his hand, put his arm around his shoulder, and said slowly, “Air can be sealed in a device, but mental energy can pass through any object. The devices that the new generation uses to store mental energy all have exotic crystal cores, but this is a rare metal that can seal mental energy.”
At this point, he and his charioteer fell silent.
After a while, Sui Cheng murmured, "Then wouldn't this kind of metal be able to trap..."
Before he could finish speaking, he suddenly looked up at Lu Zhi, his meaning clear.
"It can trap mental mutants."
