Chapter 30: A Perfect Match

Chapter 30 A Perfect Match

Because they are both lightning-type, Thunder Leopard is immune to attacks from its companion, so it simply uses ice-type attacks.

"Water Blade".

Chen Jiang waved his hand, and a blue light shot towards the Thunder Leopard.

The accompanying ice spikes followed closely behind, restraining the Thunder Leopard's limbs. Zhang Meng punched the Thunder Leopard in the head, and the Thunder Leopard cried out in pain. The other Thunder Leopard then wildly swung its tail, and the tingling lightning made Zhang Meng's arm go numb.

The Thunder Leopard broke free from Han Bing's control and pounced directly at Zhang Meng. Tan Qingjia, inside the car, used his mental power to control its movements. Although it only lasted a few seconds, the passengers seized the opportunity.

A massive ice spike solidified and fell from the sky. The Thunder Leopard dodged to the side but was punched back by Zhang Meng. Chen Jiang's water elemental power conjured four water ropes that entangled it, and the falling ice spike pierced directly through its body.

Before they could catch their breath, another Thunder Leopard pounced.

There were three in total, and one of them fell from the sky and landed on the roof of the car.

Linzhi was startled, and Madrid quickly accelerated, throwing it off the roof of the car.

Chang Zijin glanced at Lu Zhi, who showed no sign of worry or nervousness, and frowned unhappily, saying, "Aren't you going to make a move? Are you just going to stand by and watch?"

"Hmm?" Lu Zhi smiled, his eyes narrowing, and said in a cold tone, "Do you want me to take action?"

Chang Zijin didn't know who he was asking, and he thought this person was really strange.

Lin Zhi, who was sitting in front, suddenly turned around, clasped her hands together, and pleaded, "Brother Lu, please help me. You don't want to distract the captain, do you?"

"That makes sense." This statement effectively put Lu Zhi in his grip.

He snapped his fingers, and just then, the Thunder Leopard pounced on their window.

Chang Zijin stared outside, wanting to see what this man was capable of that made the servant trust him so much.

In an instant, a vine shot up from the ground, wrapped around the Thunder Leopard with astonishing speed, and slammed it into the one they were fighting.

The two crashed together, and as if dizzy and disoriented, they staggered to their feet, only to be kicked down again by Zhang Meng.

Sui Cheng, wielding an ice blade, slashed and killed both of them, his body splattered with blood.

"Cough cough." Lu Zhi started coughing again. Lin Zhi very considerately handed him a bottle of water and also grabbed a handful of red dates to help him replenish his blood.

As Chen Jiang and Zhang Meng were examining the corpses of the three Thunder Leopards, one of their companions returned. The first thing he said as he opened the car door was, "We can handle this ourselves. Don't let the law enforcement officer do it. With his physique, he'll be worn down to death sooner or later."

Lin Zhi nodded quickly.

Lu Zhi slowly explained, "It doesn't have to be that tragic; you won't die."

After he finished speaking, he glanced at Chang Zijin, who was lost in thought, and said weakly, "I can't rely on you to protect me forever. I'm happy to do my part for you."

Something about what he said sounded off. Lin Zhi couldn't help but take another look at Lu Zhi. The man had his head down and looked pitiful, with an unsmelling aroma of tea about him.

Although the passenger couldn't understand the meaning behind the words, he knew that the person was putting on an act again.

"Captain, these three mutants also have numbers on them." Chen Jiang and Zhang Meng had returned after their inspection.

After the two got into the car, the passenger said, "Just drive straight to the vicinity of the air-raid shelter. Don't stop there, Madrid. If you encounter any mutants, just ram them."

"OK."

With the instructions from his attendant, Madrid pushed his speed to the limit for the rest of the journey. The car was so fast that it left afterimages, and the aliens were thrown off before they could even see the car clearly, reducing the journey from nearly an hour to half an hour.

Madrid's powers are almost depleted; although not completely exhausted, they will take a while to recover.

"Bang!" An explosion came from the air-raid shelter, and a cloud of smoke rose into the sky.

The sound of cars roaring behind us made me turn around and see that it was someone I knew.

"Oh, what a coincidence."

The car stopped next to them, the window rolled down, and Shan Qiu peeked out to greet them. Seeing the entourage and the people around him, he reached out his hand and said with a smirk, "I was already suspicious of your identity that night, and I didn't expect it to really be you. Captain of the Sunrise Squad, it's an honor to meet you."

Sui Cheng shook her hand briefly, then quickly withdrew it, feigning ignorance as he asked, "Are you going to the air-raid shelter?"

"Aren't you the same?" Shan Qiu retorted.

The passenger nodded: "Yes, but it looks like the situation over there is not good."

"It's not just bad, people are fighting tooth and nail for a single crystal core," Shan Qiu said.

"Didn't Captain Shan come for the crystal core?" Sui Cheng felt that Shan Qiu's attitude was a bit strange. When the crystal core was mentioned, he didn't seem as eager as the others.

"I never said I came for the crystal cores," Shan Qiu said, waving his hand.

They parked their car there, and she even offered to ride with them, saying, "Captain, would you like to join us?"

Sui Cheng remembered that Shan Qiu was backed by Bai Su, Bai Xuefeng's younger sister, and that he might be able to learn something from her, so he nodded in agreement.

Including Shan Qiu and her group of five, there were seven people on their side. The group looked somewhat conspicuous, but everyone's attention was focused on the air-raid shelter, so no one would notice them.

They quickly cleared out the alien species they encountered along the way, and also ran into other squads.

The air-raid shelter was almost entirely occupied by mutants and people with superpowers; one was inside, and the other was outside.

Dan Qiu glanced at the battle situation over there and casually remarked, "This doesn't look like it has any crystal cores, does it?"

The attendant asked, "Didn't Captain Shan say he wasn't here for the crystal cores?"

Shan Qiu: "I'm curious too, Xiaolin, go and find out what's going on."

"Xiaolin?"

She called out several times but no one answered. She looked at the girl whose name she had called with a serious expression and found that her gaze was fixed on the people next to her.

"What are you looking at!" She slapped Xiaolin awake.

"Ah!" Xiaolin finally realized what was happening, and her face turned bright red, whether from embarrassment or shyness.

Another girl suggested she go and find out what was going on.

Dan Qiu then withdrew her gaze, glanced at Lu Zhi who had been stared at by Xiao Lin, and stroked her chin with a half-smile, saying, "Captain Sui, your team has quite a few good-looking guys. Does this young man have a girlfriend?"

She noticed the strange expressions on the faces of her teammates when she asked the question, as if they were hiding something.

The attendant, without changing his expression, said, "He didn't."

The lawyer quickly added, "It'll be ready soon."

The passenger glanced at him, as if asking how he got the word "fast".

The two were openly exchanging glances, and Shan Qiu wasn't stupid; she could naturally see through it. It seemed Xiao Lin was about to be heartbroken.

She gave a knowing smile: "Oh, I see."

Lu Zhi was pleased with her tact. He put his arm around the shoulder of the passenger, leaned close to his ear, and chuckled ambiguously, "You see, anyone can tell we're a perfect match."

The passenger said, "...I'm sick."
