Chapter 70 A Soft Heart, Not a Hard Tongue
This was the first time I had met Bai Xuefeng. He was pretty much as the rumors said, wearing glasses and looking like a polite gentleman.
In front of this strongest psychic ability user, Sui Cheng could feel the subconscious probing, but he was not worried about himself at all. Instead, he glanced at Lu Zhi and saw that he was calm, so he secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
"Hello, Captain Sui, I am Bai Xuefeng."
Seeing them enter, Bai Xuefeng stood up and walked towards them, shaking hands with the attendant. "Please sit down. Su Su, go and pour a glass of water for these two guests."
"Okay, brother."
After Bai Su left, they sat on the sofa in the office.
Before the others could speak, Bai Xuefeng took the initiative to say, "I know what you came to me about."
With his legs crossed, Lu Zhi casually said, "Of course you know, didn't you send someone to follow me all the way yesterday?"
Bai Xuefeng wasn't embarrassed when he was exposed. Instead, he sincerely apologized: "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to. It's just that I need to ensure your safety in the base."
Lu Zhi chuckled dismissively.
“More than one person saw Mr. Lu when he came out of Xin’an Street. If anyone wanted to find out, they could easily find out.” Bai Xuefeng said slowly and gently, “But fortunately, Mr. Lu is a new face.”
“Mr. Bai, let’s get straight to the point.” Sui Cheng disliked these roundabout ways the most and went straight to the point: “I believe you know quite a lot about the plundering.”
“Yes.” Bai Xuefeng nodded and said, “I have been investigating them ever since they started to take root in the Azure Dragon Base, but I have never been able to find any information about their main base. You have come to me today, so you must have found it, right?”
Sui Cheng said in a deep voice, "If Mr. Bai is willing to cooperate with us, we can naturally tell you about this, but that's not what we're discussing here today."
"Their purpose—plundering, or rather, Base One—is something Mr. Bai aware of."
Upon hearing this, Bai Xuefeng sat up straight, his expression becoming serious, and gestured for his attendant to continue.
"They are raising a huge superpowered army behind them, wanting to integrate the three bases into one, or more seriously, to take them over for themselves, and the people behind them may not be Chinese."
"I had some guesses before, but I was never sure." Bai Xuefeng's tone was very heavy.
Sui Cheng briefly recounted the dealings between the new generation and the plunderers.
"I never expected it to be like this." After learning the whole story, Bai Xuefeng had no choice but to put the expulsion of the plundering organization on the agenda.
"For the next two days, Captain Sui and Mr. Lu will not be able to return to the previous hotel. I will arrange rooms for you to rest at the base center."
Just then, Bai Su came in with tea. Seeing that the atmosphere was a bit heavy, she put down the cup and was about to leave, but was stopped a second later.
"Su Su, arrange a room for Captain Sui and the others to rest here, and then go and invite all the captains to a meeting."
"OK."
After giving instructions to Bai Su, Bai Xuefeng explained to the others, "If you leave the base center today, Zhang Yuanlong will definitely find out. If they notice, it will be difficult for us to take action."
He nodded to indicate that he understood.
Their original purpose was to use Bai Xuefeng's power to evade the pursuit of the plunderers, so this plan suits them perfectly.
Meanwhile, at the hotel...
Zhang Yuanlong's men had searched the entire hotel but couldn't find Lu Zhi, so they hurried back to report.
"How could they disappear? Didn't Amo say they didn't leave the city?" Zhang Yuanlong slammed his hand on the table, splitting it in two.
After using his superpower, he felt a lingering fear as he tried to sense the strange power within his body.
Now that the person has disappeared, he has no way of knowing what the power within him is, or what that dangerous man is up to.
Various questions lingered in his mind.
The subordinates lowered their heads timidly, not daring to look him in the eye, and waited silently for his instructions.
Zhang Yuanlong sat in a chair, rubbed his temples, and after a while spoke: "You guys keep an eye on this place, I'm taking some men back to headquarters."
The only solution he could think of now was to return to headquarters and have the lab staff give him a full-body checkup.
No one expected that the lawyer had overheard their entire conversation.
He sat on the sofa in the lounge that Bai Xuefeng had prepared for them, legs crossed, looking nonchalant, and smiled at his entourage, saying, "See, I was right, Zhang Yuanlong has decided to go back to headquarters."
"What is he going back for?" the attendant asked.
The lawyer said lazily, "He wants to go back for a full physical exam and get rid of what I put inside him."
Upon hearing this, the attendant frowned and said, "Aren't you worried about your identity being discovered?"
"Honey, how could I be so stupid?" Even if Lu Zhi is stupid, he wouldn't be stupid enough to offer himself up to someone else.
He sat sideways on the sofa, stretched out his long legs and put them on the legs of the person accompanying him, then lazily lay on the armrest of the sofa and laughed, "After he gets to the laboratory, the vines in his body will leave automatically. My purpose is just to see what their headquarters looks like?"
The passenger pushed his legs away and said in a flat tone, "You are indeed quite useful, comparable to a mobile camera."
"Hmm." Instead of being offended by being described as a camera by Sui Cheng, Lu Zhi nodded proudly and said, "Now you know how important I am to you, right? So Captain Sui, you'd better hold on tight to me. If you lose me one day, you won't even have time to cry."
Sui Cheng turned his face away and sneered, "So what if you lost it? It's not like you don't have legs."
Lu Zhi couldn't help but look at him and teased, "Yeah, yeah, our Captain Sui is just so stubborn but soft-hearted."
“No, that’s not right.” He got up, slowly approached Sui Cheng, his burning gaze landing on his lips, and said with a wicked smile, “Captain Sui isn’t exactly tough either.”
As he got closer and closer, Sui Cheng angrily slapped him across the face, and the next second his palm was licked by a wet, soft tongue.
"We've kissed and hugged, so why is it still so awkward?" Despite saying that, Lu Zhi just liked Sui Cheng's awkwardness; he found it adorable no matter how you looked at it.
"Stop talking nonsense." Sui Cheng pushed his head away and prepared to get up.
The room had already been checked upon entering, and there were no cameras or listening devices, which is why the two of them could chat so freely.
Moreover, with the law in place, even if someone is eavesdropping, they won't be discovered.
Lu Zhi hooked his arm around his waist, pulled him into his arms, pinched his chin with his large hand, and kissed him, his voice drowned out by his mouth, "Let me taste how soft my Captain Sui's lips are again."
He pressed Suicheng down and kissed her for a while until there was a knock on the door, at which point Lu Zhi reluctantly stopped.
His lip was bitten slightly, a result of the attendant biting him in a fit of rage.
"Who?" Lu Zhi's tone was extremely displeased, with a hint of murderous intent.
Dan Qiu, standing outside the door, shuddered and quickly said, "I just came to ask if you want to go have lunch."
