Chapter 23 Rival in Love?
Sui Cheng left Lu Zhi at the hotel and went to find the more suitable person he had mentioned.
Lu Zhi wanted to follow, but Sui Cheng raised his hand, pinched the vine on his wrist, and said, "Fine, then take this off."
"...Go early and come back early." Lu Zhi, flexible and adaptable, lay back on the bed and pretended to be dead.
The person the passenger was looking for was someone who had escaped Xinghai City with him on the day of the calamity.
The boy's name was Chang Zijin, 19 years old, and his special ability was weakened perception. It was a very rare but completely useless skill, so no team had ever accepted him.
He often worked in logistics for various temporarily formed teams.
Chang Zijin is an ambitious man who is uncontrollable, but he has a strong sense of business acumen. Once a cooperation is agreed upon, he will not change it arbitrarily. Even though he is somewhat selfish, he will still fulfill the agreement first.
When the servant found Chang Zijin, he had just gotten out of a car. The boy's skin was several shades darker, and he was tall and straight. He was carrying a bag and spotted him from afar as he walked towards him.
"Captain Sui, it's been a long time." Chang Zijin had a sly smile on his face, like a cunning little fox.
The passenger nodded: "Long time no see. Do you have anything else to do?"
Chang Zijin dusted off his bag and said casually, "Since you've come to me, even if there are other options, I'll turn them down for you."
In the past, Sui Cheng wouldn't have found such words strange, but perhaps influenced by Lu Zhi, he always felt that the words were somewhat ambiguous. However, looking at the boy's open and honest gaze, he realized that he was overthinking it.
Sui Cheng didn't think much of it, but Lu Zhi, who was eavesdropping from a hotel using his clone, was furious.
"Come on, let's go to my house to talk." Chang Zijin said, reaching out to put his arm around Suicheng's shoulder, but before he could touch him, he felt something hit his hand so hard that a thin red mark appeared on the back of his hand.
He paused for a moment and said, "It feels like something hit me just now."
Knowing what it was but unable to say, the passenger immediately changed the subject: "...Let's go first."
He stepped aside to let Chang Zijin lead the way, so Chang Zijin could no longer put his arm around his shoulder, and a hint of regret flashed in his eyes.
Chang Zijin lives alone in a simple little house. It doesn't look very nice from the outside, but it's very clean and tidy inside.
"Let me pour you a glass of water first." Chang Zijin put down his bag and prepared to get busy.
"No need, I'll leave after I've finished speaking." The attendant stopped him and asked directly, "Do you know about the news agency?"
Chang Zijin nodded: "I know, what's wrong? Do you want to buy some information?"
Sui Cheng nodded and said, "But I can't show up in person, and I can't let anyone know who bought it."
"I understand." Chang Zijin smiled, revealing his teeth. He looked like a cheerful and optimistic puppy, with his eyebrows and eyes curving, making him very endearing. "It's probably for the crystal cores and the alien species, right? A lot of people have come here recently for this. I guessed it when I saw you."
The passenger asked calmly, "Are you very familiar with the news agency?"
Chang Zijin nodded, making no attempt to hide anything: "I have a friend inside, and I learned a lot of information from him."
Sui Cheng frowned and asked again, "Do they know who lured the superhumans to Yancheng using crystal cores?"
Chang Zijin shook his head: "Very few people even within the news agency know about this."
After thinking it over, Sui Cheng decided to use the legal approach: "I want to make a deal with you."
"You said I would give you a 20% discount."
"I want all the information about the resale of alien species and crystal cores."
Chang Zijin's smile faded slightly. This deal was a bit difficult for him; he could only make it by infiltrating the news agency.
"As a condition of the deal, after this matter is over, I can recommend you to join the Department of Extraordinary Management at the Huaxia Base."
Chang Zijin's heart skipped a beat. This was indeed a great temptation for him, but after thinking for a moment, he smiled and said, "How about the Procuratorate? Could you take me on as part of the team?"
As soon as he finished speaking, Sui Cheng felt a sharp pain in his wrist, and the vines tightened considerably, clearly indicating that Lu Zhi was eavesdropping.
"Sui, what's wrong?" Chang Zijin noticed that he looked strange.
Sui Cheng subconsciously grasped his wrist and casually said, "Entering the Prosecutor's Department requires an exam. I can recommend you, but whether you succeed depends on yourself."
Chang Zijin immediately smiled and said loudly, "Okay, I will try my best."
Now that the matter had been settled, the attendant did not linger any longer.
Chang Zijin originally wanted to invite him to stay for dinner, but Suicheng insisted on leaving.
He had no choice but to leave; he sensed the vine's owner was about to explode.
Chang Zijin was somewhat disappointed, but he quickly adjusted his mindset and insisted on sending him back.
As soon as Sui Cheng left Chang Zijin's house, he saw a figure not far away.
The man was very tall, leaning against the wall, wearing a white hoodie with the hood covering most of his face. His face in the shadows was gloomy, and he looked at the people accompanying him as if he were catching them in the act of adultery.
“Sui, do you know him?” Chang Zijin also noticed Lu Zhi.
After all, a man who is too tall stands out in a crowd.
"Hmm." Sui Cheng responded, telling Chang Zijin not to see him off, and walked straight towards Lu Zhi.
The clerk adjusted his hat and the first thing he said to his attendant was, "Can you tell? I'm angry."
The passenger said, "I'm not blind."
Lu Zhi's hand naturally wrapped around his waist, then he turned to look at Chang Zijin, his deep green eyes filled with a cold warning.
Chang Zijin was stunned by the intimate actions between him and his attendant, completely dumbfounded.
Less than two seconds later, Lu Zhi's hand was slapped away by Sui Cheng.
"Don't touch me. Have you forgotten all the rules we agreed on?" the attendant warned coldly.
"Can't I even touch it? Why can that little brat?" Lu Zhi was so aggrieved that his voice became pitiful.
The passenger, speechless, asked, "Where did they touch me?"
Lu Zhi gritted his teeth and said, "He was about to put his hand on your shoulder. You never like being touched by others!"
The person following him paused, then asked sharply, "How did you know?"
He never tells anyone that he doesn't like physical contact with people, and his body will naturally stay away. Only people who have known him for a long time will notice. But how did Lü Zhi know that?
Lu Zhi explained without batting an eye, "I'm not blind. I can see it if I observe a little more."
He then changed the subject again, bringing it back to the main point, and said in a low voice, "I'm jealous."
The passenger replied, "Oh."
Lu Zhi gritted his teeth; if they weren't outside, he would have taken a bite.
I'm just thinking about it now. If it actually bites me, I won't even be able to get into my room today.
But the more he thought about it, the angrier and more annoyed he became. When they got to the hotel room, as Lu Zhi opened the door and went in, he grabbed him and slammed him against the door, shouting, "Do you really want him to join the team?"
"What's it to you?"
"Cough cough cough!"
As soon as Sui Cheng finished speaking, Lu Zhi suddenly coughed, blood spilling from the corner of his mouth, and his face turned deathly pale.
"Can this problem of yours, where you vomit blood without saying a word, be cured?"
"I... Pfft!" Before Lu Zhi could even finish speaking, he spat out a mouthful of blood, instantly staining the collar of his white hoodie red.
Sui Cheng's pupils contracted sharply, and he quickly asked him to support him. His previous indifference vanished, replaced by a hint of nervousness.
"Law enforcement?"
"Don't touch me yet." Lu Zhi didn't want his blood to get on him, so he leaned against the wall for a while and said weakly, "Du Jianshu is dead. They have a very powerful psychic there who discovered the vines."
