Chapter 9 Split Operations
After giving the instructions, he planned to return to the monitoring room.
But after going upstairs, he smelled a strong stench of blood. He was shocked. Could it be that those people had found this place? Wouldn't that put Lu Zhi in danger?
He quickened his pace and hurried toward the monitoring room.
But the closer you get to the monitoring room, the weaker the smell of blood becomes.
There were no signs of a fight on the road, and he couldn't find the source of the smell.
"Lu Zhi?" Sui Cheng knocked gently on the door. A few seconds later, the door opened, and Lu Zhi stood in the doorway, covering his mouth and coughing lightly. He said weakly, "Why did it take you so long to come back?"
His tone sounded like he was complaining about his husband who came home late.
Looking at his face, the passenger seemed even more vulnerable than when he had left.
His gaze drifted back into the monitoring room, finding nothing had changed since he left. He breathed a sigh of relief and said, "I smelled blood when I came in, and I thought..."
"I thought I was in danger, Captain Sui. Are you worried about me?" Lu Zhi's face was filled with a bright and cheerful smile as he leaned closer to Sui Cheng and said, "Don't worry, I'll be fine."
The attendant frowned and asked, "Where does your confidence come from?"
Lu Zhi nudged his shoulder and asked, "If I were really in danger, would you just leave me alone?"
The servant had no grudge against him, so of course he wouldn't ignore it. But he felt that if he said it out loud, the law enforcement officer would probably take advantage of the situation.
Even without him saying anything, the lawyer knew the answer. He smiled silently at the attendant, and when the attendant wasn't paying attention, he pulled him in front of the monitor and said, "The special forces team is very fast. Those two have already been dealt with."
The passenger glanced at the screen and found the men Xu Feng had sent out. Seeing them handling the body, he asked, "Isn't anyone else here?"
Lu Zhi's eyes flashed, and he said in a low voice, "No, the others should be somewhere else and haven't arrived yet."
What did you hear earlier?
Sui Cheng suddenly remembered this matter. Because he had been interrupted by Lu Zhi, he hadn't asked about it until now that he had the chance. He immediately asked Lu Zhi.
Lu Zhi beckoned to him, signaling him to come closer. Once Sui Cheng was near, he breathed into Sui Cheng's ear and said before the man could get angry, "They said there's a high-level creature in Tianhai Square, and they want to find your whereabouts. They also know we're from the Huaxia base."
The attendant said coldly, "They came specifically for us. They should know about the advanced species even before our base does."
The lawyer asked him what his plans were for the future.
This group is ultimately a hidden danger, but their true purpose is unclear. He needs to capture a living person to question them.
“I understand.” Lu Zhi winked at him, and seeing Sui Cheng looking at him, he smiled and said, “Captain Sui, didn’t I tell you that finding people is easier for me than for you?”
He pointed to the monitor and told the passengers that they could turn it off. They should go back downstairs and wait half an hour for news.
Sui Cheng heard him snap his fingers and his gaze fell on his hands. This was the first time he had seen Lu Zhi use his skill. Vines were wrapped around his fingertips, and they were the kind that could move.
Lu Zhi squatted down, pressed his fingers against the ground, and let the vines creep into the cracks in the wall. Then he stood up and said, "Let's go back and wait for news."
One of the passengers asked curiously, "You can control plants? Are there distance limitations? Time limitations?"
“Of course there are.” Lu Zhi tried to grab his hand again, but Sui Cheng’s attention was on his words. He noticed his movement but did not dodge. He listened as Lu Zhi continued, “Not all plants can be controlled. Some alien species cannot be controlled. Moreover, unless it is a plant that you create with your own superpower, the duration of control is also different.”
If he can really control plant-based mutants, then he must be incredibly powerful.
Sui Cheng thought to herself, and only after he finished speaking did she pull her hand out of his, saying in a serious tone, "What happened to our agreement not to lay a hand on each other?"
Lu Zhi raised his hands innocently and said, "But you didn't dodge, did you?"
...
"Captain, you're finally back." Chen Jiang and the others have also returned. As soon as they got back, they heard that the people from Base One who attacked them had been found around the mall. Although Xu Feng had sent people to deal with them, it was impossible to ensure that no one else would come.
“We don’t need to hide here. We should go out and actively find those people. It would be best if we could capture them alive and ask them about their specific purpose and who gave the orders.” The attendant calmly analyzed the situation.
Xu Feng nodded and said, "Yes, let's do it that way, but I don't think it was sent by the leaders of Base One."
The attendant said, "The interior of Base One is very chaotic, with all sorts of people. Although Guan Qi and the others had an agreement with their superiors, we cannot completely trust that it was not their doing."
Xu Feng gave a soft "hmm," then asked, "Is the location of the advanced species guaranteed to be accurate?"
"I heard it from those people at Base One."
"In that case, you search for the whereabouts of the remaining people. I'll take some men to deal with the high-level ones first. The longer they stay, the more uneasy I'll feel." Xu Feng acted immediately, gathering his team members and getting into the car to head towards Tianhai Square.
"Captain Xu, please be careful."
After all, they were a special operations team, stronger than ordinary superhumans, so Sui Cheng wasn't worried that they wouldn't be able to handle a high-level creature.
After they left, the accompanying team members also left through another exit.
Before half an hour had passed, the plants from the law enforcement team returned.
They each had a map, a detailed map drawn by the reconnaissance team when they cleaned up Furong City before.
Lu Zhi asked his attendant for a pen, twirled it in his hand, then casually drew a few circles on the map before handing it to him. He said lazily, "These places all have traces of those superhumans' activities. Which one to go first is up to you."
Looking at the points on the map, Sui Cheng suddenly realized that bringing Lu Zhi along had some advantages. Apart from being a bit talkative and physically weak, Lu Zhi didn't have any major problems, and most importantly, he wouldn't be a burden.
"Madrid, starting from the nearest point."
Their execution speed is always very fast. Before they even reached their position, the people at Base One spotted them as soon as they heard the sound of the vehicle and opened fire without hesitation.
The lightning-based superpower that accompanied him transformed into a lightning net that blocked the bullet. After a few seconds, the net disappeared, and a bolt of lightning rushed toward the person who fired the shot. It didn't kill him immediately, but it did knock him unconscious.
The lawyer joked, "Go easy on me, aren't we going to ask you questions?"
The passenger glanced at him indifferently.
Madrid stopped the car, and everyone except Lin Zhi Tan Qingjia and Lu Zhi got out.
Tan Qingjia used his mental power to sense the surroundings and reported his location to his companions through his earpiece.
Several people were standing on the high-rise building across the street, wearing masks, looking at their entourage with apprehension.
"As expected of the accompanying team, their strength is not to be underestimated." The first person to speak used a voice changer, so it was impossible to tell whether they were male or female.
"Among those people in the car, there's only one mental and one spatial type, plus an extra man who must be their new member. We don't know anything about him. Should we go in?" The short man squatting to the side looked at the Hummer below with a sinister gaze. His eyes were like those of an eagle, able to see clearly inside the car even from this distance.
“No, wait a little longer,” the man said in a very low voice. “We can’t beat the entourage right now.”
