Time passed slowly. The atmosphere on the ship grew increasingly oppressive. The monster's roars seemed more frequent than usual, and an uneasy sense of impending doom filled the air.
Jiang Chan moved silently between different areas, like a true ghost, using the ventilation ducts and the shadows of the ship's hull.
She consciously avoided areas where players were active, but she always managed to "just happen" to spot traces of player activity from a distance.
She saw a team of players moving quickly through the cabin with tense expressions. When they passed the public information board, someone suddenly stopped, pointed at the "blood letter" left by Jiang Chan, and showed a mixture of shock and ecstasy on their face.
Soon, other players also gathered around, creating a suppressed commotion.
"A crystal chandelier interlayer? Divine protection?!"
"The only way out? Really?"
"Who left this? 'The One Who Saw the Light'? I've never heard of this player before."
"Who cares who it is! The words are written in blood! It must have been a message sent at the risk of their lives!"
"Only one person is allowed..."
"The dance hall! Let's go check out the dance hall!"
There was skepticism, there was caution, but more than anything, there was greed and longing for a glimmer of hope in the despairing dungeon! Especially those small teams and lone wolf players, their eyes were filled with a desperate madness.
Jiang Chan even spotted the remnants of the [Blood Slaughter] squad from afar.
Scarface also saw the message. His bloodshot eyes were fixed on the words "only one way out" and "only one person allowed." The muscles on his face were contorted, and his eyes were so fierce that he looked like he wanted to devour someone.
He licked his chapped lips, growled something, and dragged his lame teammate along, hurrying towards the dance hall.
Panic and greed spread like a plague among the surviving players. More and more people approached the dance hall area. Some shrewd individuals even began secretly searching for advantageous positions near the dance hall or hiding to observe the situation.
The previously scattered player base began to converge on the dance hall, the eye of the storm, because of this "blood letter".
Jiang Chan lurked in a corner of a circular bleacher box on the second floor of the ballroom, hidden by heavy curtains. The view from there was excellent, overlooking the entire dance floor and the crystal chandelier. She remained motionless, like a cold stone, patiently waiting.
The light on the ship grew dimmer, as if soaked in invisible ink. The stench of decay and blood intensified. The monstrous roars emanating from deep within the ship's hold seemed to carry an inexplicable...excitement?
Clang! Clang! Clang! ...
Suddenly! A heavy, eerie, and soul-piercing bell tolled without warning, echoing throughout the entire "Styx"! The bell tolled with endless chill and frantic echoes, again and again, making the decaying hull groan and tremble!
As the third bell rang, the already dim and dilapidated magic wall lamps in the ballroom instantly turned a blinding, chilling blood red! The entire ballroom was stained with a hellish crimson!
A cold, distorted, androgynous voice, like the whisper of the dead, exploded in every corner, in everyone's ears:
"Midnight Revelry"
"here we go--!"
Thump! Thump! Thump! ...
The dull, piercing tolling of the bells, one after another, struck like a giant hammer against everyone's hearts. Each toll made the deck beneath their feet vibrate.
In an instant, the entire "Styx" looked as if a bucket of blood had been poured on it! The already dim and eerie lights suddenly turned a chilling blood red! The entire ballroom was illuminated as if it were a pool of blood from hell!
"Hehehe—"
"Ugh—!"
"Hiss hiss hiss—!"
Terrifying howls, shrieks, and roars erupted wildly from every corner of the cabin, from the cracks in the deck, and from the depths of the sea! It was like ten thousand demons awakening at once! The entire ship trembled amidst all sorts of inhuman sounds!
The party has begun!
The two heavy, ornately carved doors of the ballroom were suddenly smashed open from the outside with a loud crash! No, not smashed open, but torn to shreds!
Countless twisted figures, carrying the stench of rotting seawater, surged in like a black torrent bursting its banks!
A water ghost, swollen and white from being submerged, its eyes bulging out like a dead fish! A vengeful spirit, its body translucent, trailing long black smoke, emitting shrill screams! A ghostly sailor, dressed in tattered sailor clothes, reduced to nothing but skeletons and rotting flesh, wielding a rusty iron hook!
They crowded the entrance, surging towards the still-living players in the center of the dance floor like a tidal wave, exuding an alluring, fleshy scent!
"Monster! It's coming! Block it! Block it now!"
"Safe house! Quick! Get in the safe house!"
"Damn it! The door won't open! The runes aren't working!"
"This way! This cabinet won't do either!"
"My mark has been erased! Who did it?!"
Desperate screams erupted instantly! Players frantically rushed towards the small safe spots they remembered—the lockers in the corner, behind the heavy curtains, the decorative armor niches…
But it was no use! The runes on the doors were dull and lifeless, or simply scratched off by something! Those tiny shelters were now no different from ordinary broken cabinets with holes! They were utterly incapable of keeping out the crazed, bloodthirsty monsters outside!
"It's a trap! That mezzanine is the only way out!" A player with a blood-covered face pointed at the crystal chandelier above his head, his voice hoarse and distorted with extreme fear and greed.
The center of the dance floor instantly became the epicenter of a hellish vortex! Monsters squeezed and tore at the players from all sides, while the players, like moths to a flame, desperately rushed towards the heavy iron chains and ropes hanging below the chandelier—the only path to survival!
