Chapter 62 This road is blocked, let's switch from off-road vehicle to bicycle!

I don't know how long I ran like that.

The rain subsided slightly, but the sky remained overcast.

The official road winds along the foot of the mountain.

Jiang Chan's tense nerves relaxed slightly, and sweat mixed with rainwater slid down her face.

She tried to relax her fingers, which were gripping the steering wheel tightly, but her joints were stiff and painful.

At the bend in the official road ahead, several swaying figures suddenly burst into the rain.

Jiang Chan's heart sank.

It's a human!

Five people, dressed in rags, covered in mud and dark red bloodstains, carrying a chipped knife, a sharpened wooden stick, and a broken hoe, walked along, cursing and supporting each other.

A huge engine roared from behind, and they turned around in surprise.

When they saw what was rushing towards them, the mud-covered faces instantly lost all color, leaving only pure, incomprehensible fear!

"Wh...what is that?!" The burly man leading the group screamed incoherently, his voice cracking.

The roar of the engine tore through the rain curtain, and the steel monster, carrying waves of mud, crashed into the fleeing soldiers blocking its path at a terrifying speed!

"A...a monster!" The burly man with a face full of scars shouted in a hoarse voice, his voice cracking, and his soul flew away.

Jiang Chan's eyes were icy, and her hands firmly gripped the violently jolting steering wheel.

With lightning speed, she slammed her left hand down on a raised button below the steering wheel!

Woohoo! Woohoo!

Two sharper, more piercing screechs than the engine roar suddenly exploded!

Two enormous, blindingly white beams of light shot out from the two black square covers on the front of the vehicle, instantly tearing through the gray rain curtain and striking the fleeing soldiers' faces with pinpoint accuracy!

"Ah! My eyes!"

"Will-o'-the-wisp! It's will-o'-the-wisp!"

"It's a monster!"

Run! Run!

The combined impact of the intense light and noise completely shattered the already fragile nerves of the fleeing soldiers.

Like toads doused with boiling water, they dropped their broken and rusty tools, covered their eyes, let out incoherent screams, and scrambled to the muddy ground on both sides of the official road, wishing they could bury their heads in it.

The steel monster, accompanied by a piercing howl and dazzling "ghost fire," whipped up a cloud of mud and rain, violently crushing across the road.

The car disappeared into the depths of the wind and rain in the next second.

Inside the driver's cab, Jiang Chan exhaled a soft breath, and with a gentle tap of her right index finger, the piercing horn stopped abruptly, and the high beams went out.

The deep roar of the engine once again became the dominant sound.

She skillfully made slight adjustments to the direction, avoiding a large, bumpy pothole; the car only swayed slightly before regaining stability.

The movements were fluid, yet possessed a precision that seemed out of place in this primitive era.

The windshield was covered in mud, obscuring the view.

She used her right hand to move a short metal lever on the right side of the steering wheel.

Swoosh... Swoosh... The scraper blade began to swing from side to side, barely scraping out two clear arcs of vision.

The rain was still falling, but it had lessened somewhat. The sky had become even more gloomy, with lead-gray clouds hanging low. The mountains on both sides of the road had become steep and precipitous, with huge rocks exposing their jagged edges.

Time passed amidst the roar of engines and the sound of the wind.

As the tension subsided, fatigue crept in.

She stretched her stiff neck and glanced at the symbols on the dashboard—the fuel tank was full, and the speedometer needle pointed steadily to a number that gave her some peace of mind.

Just then, her eyelids twitched violently!

Ahead!

The official road has disappeared!

The massive mountain was as if it had been cleaved in two by the axe of a giant god, with half of the mountainside completely collapsing down!

The yellowish-brown mud, mixed with countless broken tree trunks and jagged boulders, completely blocked the way!

The signs of the collapse are still fresh, with small pebbles and clods of mud slowly sliding down the edges, making a dull rustling sound.

Jiang Chan's eyes sharpened, and she quickly lifted her right foot from the accelerator and precisely pressed it onto the brake pedal!

At the same time, his right hand moved into the low gear with lightning speed!

Squeak—!!

A piercing screeching sound tore through the rain curtain!

With its powerful braking force and precise gear shifting, the massive vehicle suddenly came to a stop on the slippery, muddy road, its tires gripping the ground tightly and leaving long mud tracks!

The entire cockpit tilted forward violently due to the enormous inertia!

The seatbelt tightened instantly, gripping her shoulders tightly!

The front of the vehicle came to a safe stop less than three zhang away from the massive, all-consuming wall of mud and rocks.

The engine revved low in the idle.

The car headlights illuminated this fresh hellscape, which reeked of a strong, earthy smell.

bypass?

The map unfolded rapidly in her mind.

The nearest fork in the main road is at least twenty miles behind us. To bypass this dead zone, we need to take a huge detour... There's no time to spare!

The countdown on the system panel was like an invisible noose, making it hard for her to breathe!

Cold sweat instantly soaked through the inner garment on my back.

She slammed her fist hard on the leather-wrapped steering wheel, a fleeting struggle and reluctance flashing in her eyes—this steel behemoth was her strongest reliance in this perilous situation.

After getting off the vehicle, it was returned to the system.

Then, with a thought, a bicycle appeared out of thin air on the muddy ground next to the driver's seat.

Jiang Chan acted without the slightest hesitation.

With clean, swift movements, he grabbed the cold handlebars and righted the bicycle.

Jiang Chan rode her bicycle and plunged into the narrow path on the map that hugged the steep mountainside and was almost completely buried by weeds and rocks.

This is not a road at all; it is a crack in the mountain caused by weathering and the occasional footprints left by wild animals.

The slope is incredibly steep.

On most sections of the road, she could only put her bicycle in the space.

Downhill sections pose an even greater challenge to vehicle handling.
