Chapter 66

Sure enough, hard work pays off. They found a stone slab with a gap that looked like a door in a corner. Guided by Feng Minghao and Liu Mingfeng, Zhang Jianjun found the mechanism and threw the three people who were clinging to the door inside when it was triggered.

It's worth noting that Liu Shifeng and his team searched for a long time before finding this secret room. At that time, Liu Mingdong admired the ancient people for being able to design such an ingenious mechanism. He even asked Feng Minghao if his family had this mechanism, and Feng Minghao said that his family did.

Feng Minghao smiled and told Liu Linfeng that the secret room in his house wasn't as simple as the ones in the TV dramas Liu Mingfeng had shown him, like those with hidden compartments behind paintings or calligraphy, or opening the secret room by slightly turning the paperweight on the table. He only knew that the secret room in his house was in his father's study, where there was an entire wall of books, all arranged in order on the bookshelves. Each time you wanted to open the secret room, you had to push a few specific books in a specific order. If you pushed them in the wrong order, hidden weapons would be launched from the bookshelves, killing you without you even knowing it.

Old Zhang and his colleagues, who were checking and registering outside, only heard a sound, and then their boss and the two Liu brothers suddenly disappeared.

The seven people outside rushed to the spot where they had disappeared, frantically pounding on the stone wall. They were also desperately calling out the names of Zhang Jianjun and the other two.

The three men, including Liu Mingfeng, were momentarily stunned when they were thrown in. Fortunately, all three were quite agile. After the wall flipped over, although they were momentarily confused, they quickly recovered and rolled forward, avoiding serious head injuries. Since they were clinging to the wall, when it completely flipped, they were in a head-down position. If someone hadn't been so skilled, they would certainly have ended up covered in blood.

Of course, Zhang Jianjun was probably the only one completely bewildered during this time. Feng Minghao and Liu Mingfeng were well aware of the situation, as they had experienced something similar when they opened this secret room before, except that they hadn't opened it themselves but had used props. The first time the wall flipped, the group didn't enter, but waited until the second time.

The reason Zhang Jianjun and his group didn't notice anyone entering was simply because Liu Mingfeng and his companions didn't step on the ground when they entered; instead, they sat on a floating platform. Whether descending from the top of the valley, entering the cave, or even the secret chamber, they left not a single trace. However, there were definitely some traces left, since they did take some items from the secret chamber. But the person who placed these items was no longer there, so who would know?

After tumbling to the ground, Liu Mingfeng groaned. Hearing this, Feng Minghao immediately stood up and ran to Liu Mingfeng's side to help him up, anxiously asking him what was wrong. Their eyes met, and they exchanged a knowing glance.

"Brother, how are you? Has your injury worsened? Are your hands and legs alright?"

"I'm fine, Minghao. Help me sit over here, and then you and Ban carefully look around inside. See if there are any other dangers, and then look for a way out."

Feng Minghao agreed and helped Liu Mingfeng to the side. He brushed away the dust on the ground and swept a clean spot for Liu Mingfeng to sit down. At this moment, Zhang Jianjun also came to Liu Mingfeng's side and asked about his injuries. His face was also very nervous. After all, if he was injured again, it might affect Liu Mingfeng's military career.

When Liu Mingfeng told him that he was fine, Zhang Jianjun clearly didn't believe him. This was evident from his anxious search for a way out of the secret room; he was eager to get Liu Mingfeng to the hospital.

While Zhang Jianjun anxiously searched for a way out, Feng Minghao subtly blocked his view, allowing Liu Mingfeng to make some small movements.

During their search, the three learned the origin of this place. Not far from here was a skeleton, which, perhaps due to the poor air circulation, had not yet weathered away. On the wall next to the skeleton were some characters, though they were in traditional Chinese. The three of them deciphered them through a combination of guesswork and deduction.

The meaning is that this skeleton belonged to a master mechanic named Zhuge. Children in the Zhuge family didn't have names when they were young; some were given numbers. They only received names after becoming famous. Zhuge Miaoshou was also given a name by his family after demonstrating his exceptional skills. After becoming famous, he traveled around building secret chambers and tiered tombs for people. However, the tallest tree catches the most wind. When he was sought out again, it was by a prince who wanted him to build a mausoleum for him. Zhuge Miaoshou didn't want to build it for the prince because he knew the prince's rationality; he knew that the completion of the mausoleum would mark his death.

As a prince, he did not give Zhuge Miaoshou a chance to refuse. When Zhuge Miaoshou went out, he sent his men to kidnap Zhuge Miaoshou's wife and children, threatening to kill them all if Zhuge Miaoshou did not build him a mausoleum.

Zhuge Miaoshou had no choice but to agree to build a mausoleum for the prince, on the condition that the prince take good care of his wife and children. The prince agreed readily to his face, but behind the scenes, he murdered all his wife and children just before the mausoleum was completed. Zhuge Miaoshou learned of this from the people he had helped.
