When Wu Qiaoqiao heard that it was scheduled for the evening, she didn't say anything more. If it were at noon, she definitely wouldn't have gone. Now she had to go back to take a shower. All of them smelled bad. If the windows hadn't been opened, no one could have sat down.
After getting into the car, Wu Qiaoqiao and Zhao Xiuxiang both looked at Feng Ming'an. He seemed a bit dazed, especially with the very obvious dark circles under his eyes. They asked him what was wrong. They knew that his health had never been very good since childhood, and although he was said to be better now, they were still very worried to see him like this.
Before Feng Ming'an could answer, Feng Mingran quickly began to speak. It turned out that since being eligible to take the college entrance exam, Feng Ming'an had been admitted to university. Because of his outstanding performance at university, he had been working with a professor on various research projects for a long time. When he learned that his brother and sister were coming to pick up his cousin's wife and aunt, he said he wanted to come along too.
Upon hearing the reason, Wu Qiaoqiao and Zhao Xiuxiang didn't say anything more, only expressing concern that he should take care of himself and get some rest. After all, no matter what you do, you can't do anything without good health. Feng Ming'an leaned back in his seat, yawning and nodding to indicate that he understood. His mother, older brother, and older sister had all told him this several times since he came back.
Besides the adults talking, five children were also chattering away. Liu Xiangguo, while peering out the window at the houses and trees that the cars were passing by, turned around and asked Wu Qiaoqiao a question.
"Mom, you said we should go home. Do we have a home here? Where is our home?"
Upon hearing Liu Xiangguo's question, Liu Xiangjun, Liu Xiangqin, and Liu Xiangguo's twin brother Liu Xiangdang all turned to look at Wu Qiaoqiao. As for Zhao Xiuxiang, she knew that Wu Qiaoqiao had a house here, which was left to her by her family. As for where it was, Zhao Xiuxiang did not know either, so upon hearing Liu Xiangguo's words, she also turned to look at Wu Qiaoqiao.
As Wu Qiaoqiao looked at the people looking at her and was about to answer, Niu Niu, who was sitting next to Liu Xiangdang, quickly raised her hand and said to Liu Xiangguo.
"Brother, brother, I know, I know where it is. Your home is in Liuya Hutong, and so is mine, but my grandparents don't live here. They live in another big courtyard."
Liu Xiangguo didn't pay much attention to what Niu Niu said about her grandparents not living here but in another large courtyard. She was happy to hear that Niu Niu's home was here too. She had thought that she would have to separate from Niu Niu after arriving here, since Niu Niu wasn't her mother's child. She didn't expect that they could still be together. So, Liu Xiangdang, Liu Xiangguo, and Niu Niu chatted and laughed every now and then.
The two older boys, Liu Xiangjun and Liu Xiangjun, found it a little funny when they heard that they could play together again. They knew that this was not the final stop and that they would not be able to stay here for long before they had to go to their fathers' place before the start of school. However, the two boys did not try to discourage the three younger ones. Instead, they faced the car window and looked at the bustling traffic outside.
The adults on the bus watched the children laughing and playing. They chatted amongst themselves, and from their conversation, Wu Qiaoqiao learned that Lin Yuwei and Liu Mengmeng were currently at her house. Using the key that Wu Qiaoqiao had left for Lin Yuwei when she returned to Liujiatun earlier this year, they had prepared in advance after receiving the news, and had arrived at Wu Qiaoqiao's house early today to prepare their things. They figured that when Wu Qiaoqiao and the others arrived, there would be something to eat, and after eating, they could wash up and rest.
Niu Niu was describing the things she saw along the way to her two older boys when she heard her mother's voice and she almost jumped for joy. She hadn't seen her mother for almost two months, and she missed her terribly.
Zhao Xiuxiang also asked about the health of Grandpa Tan. From Tan Jing's answer, she learned that Grandpa Tan was in very good health. He had been busy at the breeding farm that Tan Jing ran. Tan Jing didn't want him to be too tired and didn't want him to work, but he was unwilling to do so.
After chatting for a while, the car fell silent. Wu Qiaoqiao and the five children all sat down to rest. The adults were fine, but the five children seemed listless, as they had been really tired from traveling by train for the past few days.
Soon the car arrived at Liuya Hutong. Because this hutong was relatively wide, the car could drive through, but it couldn't turn around. Once inside, it had to come out from the other side. Fortunately, Feng Mingran and his family knew the situation of this hutong and knew that only their family could afford a car, so they drove the car into the hutong without worrying that another car would come in from the other side, which would mean one car would have to back out.
They drove into the alley and stopped at the gate of the third house at the alley entrance. There were two people standing in front of the vermilion gate, one of whom had a rather large belly. These two people were Lin Yuwei and Liu Mengmeng.
After the car came to a stop, everyone prepared to open the doors and get out. Among them was Niu Niu, who was extremely excited to see her mother. However, just as Niu Niu was about to open the door, Feng Mingyue, who was sitting next to her, grabbed her. She couldn't let Niu Niu get out like that. Firstly, the car seat was a bit high, which was a little dangerous for the three-year-old.
