Chapter 110

"Mom...Mom..." A child was calling for her mother. The voice was unfamiliar, but it made her heart clench with pain, and she couldn't help but shed tears.

"Mom, it's me, Duoduo." The voice grew closer until it was almost touching. The darkness before Wu Qianyun's eyes dissipated, and her vision suddenly brightened. A thin, small, familiar figure appeared in her sight, causing Wu Qianyun to stare in disbelief. "Duoduo?"

"Mommy!" The little body snuggled into her mother's arms, greedily enjoying her mother's warm embrace. "Mommy, it's me, Duoduo. It's me, Duoduo. Mommy, Duoduo missed you so much."

"Duoduo, Duoduo..." Wu Qianyun, having regained her senses, hugged the little body tightly in her arms, sobbing uncontrollably.

Her Duoduo is back! That's wonderful! Her Duoduo has been found.

But... why is she so sad?

Tears streamed down her face, soaking her pajamas.

"My Duoduo is back, my Duoduo can talk... Waaah..."

"Duoduo, it's almost time, let's get down to business." A gentle female voice entered the depths of Duoduo's soul.

Duo Duo's little body stiffened. She lifted her head from her mother's arms, cupped her mother's tear-streaked face in her little hands, and smiled as she said, "Mommy, Duo Duo is dead. Duo Duo is so cold. Please bring Duo Duo back with you, so that Duo Duo can be reincarnated and be Mommy's good baby again in the next life, okay?"

Wu Qianyun was so shocked that she sat down on the ground with a thud, unable to believe what she had heard. Tears streamed down her face, and she shook her head, unwilling to believe that the child in front of her was dead. He was right in front of her, perfectly fine in her arms.

“Duoduo, Mommy’s here. Let’s go home. Daddy went out to buy some delicious food. Let’s go home and wait for Daddy to come back. Look, you have a little brother now. Your little brother loves you very much. We all love you very much. Come on, let’s go home with Mommy.” Wiping away her tears, Wu Qianyun, unwilling to believe the truth, stood up with Duoduo in her arms. The light weight in her arms made Wu Qianyun’s tears flow even more, and the fear in her heart almost made her lose her breath.

"Let's go home..." she kept repeating, but when she turned around, all she could see was a gray expanse; she couldn't find her way back...

"Mommy, Duoduo loves you. Go back to Tenth Street. Duoduo is at the funeral home on Tenth Street. Duoduo is waiting for you and Daddy to come and pick Duoduo up. Duoduo wants to go home..."

"No, Duoduo...no, don't go, don't go...Duoduo!!!" The pregnant woman on the bed woke up crying, suddenly sat up, only to find her husband rushing in from the door, covered in sweat, "Qianyun!"

Yu Xing rushed in and the first thing he did was reach out and hug his wife. "Qianyun, I had a dream. I dreamt that Duoduo came and said he was cold and wanted to go home. Qianyun... Waaah..." He went out for a walk and somehow fell asleep on a park bench.

"Ah Xing, Ah Xing, you dreamed about Duo Duo too? You really dreamed about Duo Duo?" Wu Qianyun looked at her husband in disbelief, crying uncontrollably. The last glimmer of hope in her heart was slowly fading away.

"Ahhhhh... my Duoduo..." The couple hugged each other and cried bitterly.

The funeral home called, and Zeng Jing answered. After a moment of silence, he got up and went over.

As soon as I stepped into the funeral home grounds, I heard heart-wrenching cries.

Zeng Jing paused, and for some reason, suddenly lost the desire to go over there.

What was he doing in the past? The case is closed... Did he want to watch parents who lost their children cry? No... he didn't want to...

Just as the curator, who had personally completed the handover procedures, was about to turn around and go inside, he glanced at the gate and saw Zeng Jing hesitating in place.

The curator frowned and came out. "Officer Zeng?"

“Curator.” Zeng Jing forced a stiff smile, but the sadness in his eyes was undeniable.

The curator immediately understood: "Officer Zeng has a kind heart."

"Me? Maybe." Zeng Jing smiled. "Curator, I have other things to attend to. I just came today to take a look around, nothing else. Have Yu Rui's family members arrived?"

"No, so I wanted to ask you what to do."

"Wait a little longer. How much will it cost? I'll extend it for another month."

"One thousand," the curator said bluntly.

Zeng Jing: ...You reported it pretty quickly.

"Here you go." He took out his wallet. "I'll refund any overpayment and collect any underpayment. I'll find his parents as soon as possible."

"I know, we're old acquaintances, don't you trust me?" The curator laughed, raising his hand to pat Zeng Jing's shoulder, but Zeng Jing dodged it.

"Director, it's best not to pat someone's shoulder casually, especially at a funeral home." That's common sense.

The curator's lips twitched. "You're quite superstitious."

Zeng Jing was speechless. "That's common sense, okay?"

Curator: "You think you're so good at English? I can't understand you."

"If you don't understand, that's fine. I'm leaving."

Watching Zeng Jing's departing figure, he lowered his head and stuffed the money into his pocket. This kid wasn't doing this for the first time; he was kind-hearted after all.

Across the street from the park, the little girl silently watched as the woman who had fainted from crying was carried out of the lobby by her relatives. "Duoduo, go, go home with her."

The frail child kowtowed to the girl, and a single black tear fell from the sky, drifting down to Yuan Zhuan, who reached out and caught it.

"You've collected another Ghost Tear, congratulations." The system's voice was calm and composed.

Yuan Zhuan didn't speak and put it away.

"Sister, what will happen to my mom and dad?" Yu Rui became anxious when he saw his best friend leave. His parents were both in the hospital. Would he be cremated?

"Let's go, your eldest aunt and your youngest aunt have already gone over."

"ah?"

Yuan Zhuan got into the car, and Wu Tianqing turned the steering wheel and drove off into the distance.

Our destination this time is the city hospital.

When Yuan Zhuan arrived with Yu Rui, his mother had already been transferred out of the intensive care unit. The couple were put into the same ward, and their respective relatives came. There were several of them, including Yu Rui's aunt and great-aunt Yanran.

Once inside the inpatient ward and having located the area, Yuan Zhuan didn't approach any further. "Rui Rui, go on, Mom and Dad are waiting for you to say goodbye."

When speaking, Yuan Zhuan did not avoid Wu Tianqing. Although the latter was a little uncomfortable, he was not so afraid in the bustling hospital.

"Master, where will they go after they leave?" Life and death happen every day in the hospital. If he were a doctor, he would probably have mental problems. He is afraid of life and death.

"Reincarnation, everyone's future destiny." After answering, Yuan Zhuan looked at Wu Tianqing, "Are you afraid?"

Wu Tianqing shook his head, "I just feel sad for Duoduo and Ruirui's parents. They didn't even have the chance to grow up."

"Nine years old is a critical age, and they just happened to be outside of it. After leaving, it's another cycle, and you'll get used to it."

Wu Tianqing didn't reply, nor did he have time to reply, because his master suddenly rushed out so fast that he almost didn't have time to react before his body shot out like an arrow.

In the crowd, a man raised a blood-stained cleaver and slashed down again, with a determination to kill.

Before anyone could even react, the doctor who was rushing toward the emergency room had already collapsed, clutching his neck.

"Ah ah..."
