With something on his mind, Xia Bang tossed and turned all night, unable to fall asleep. He finally drifted off, but the alarm clock rang only moments later.
Xia Bang slapped the alarm clock away, sat up abruptly, rubbed his face, and got out of bed with a groggy mind.
He had important business to attend to today and didn't have time to procrastinate.
Despite rushing, it was nearly eight o'clock when I arrived at the police station, but Ye Fei and Du Kang, who worked at the opposite workstation, had not yet arrived.
Frowning, where is he? Even if Ye Fei isn't here, Du Kang should be. After all, he had reminded him last night before leaving work to be there before eight o'clock.
"Xiao Gu, Xiao Gu." Xiao Gu from the administration department always arrives at eight o'clock, while everyone else arrives at eight-thirty.

"Well..." Before he could finish speaking, Xia Bang's phone rang.
Xia Bang walked back to his workstation, hesitated for a moment, and answered the phone, thinking it was someone looking for him. But instead, he heard, "Hello? It's me... Director...! In a courtyard, Li Guojing was tidying his clothes in front of the mirror on the three-door cabinet when the telephone in the living room suddenly rang.
He paused, his hands gripping his collar, and looked towards the door. Who could it be so early?
"Old Li, your phone is ringing." His wife's voice came through.
"Who is it?" As he reached the door, Li Guojing looked at his wife with a puzzled expression. She waved and mouthed the question.
Director!
Li Guojing was stunned for a moment, then rushed to the telephone in three strides. "Director Pei, it's me, oh..."
As he listened to what was being said on the other end of the phone, Li Guojing's face darkened, and his wife, who was standing beside him, also frowned.
What happened?
After hanging up the phone, Li Guojing didn't say anything, but dialed another number, "Hey, Xia Bang, come to my house right now."
"I won't go to the bureau for now. You wait at the entrance. Tell Xia Bang to come to the study and wait for me," Li Guojing instructed his wife, Meng Shan, his face grim and his eyes blazing with anger.
"Okay." Meng Shan didn't dare to say anything more, just replied and went out.
Their home is less than a kilometer from the police station; it takes less than twenty minutes to walk there.

His mind raced, trying to figure out how to calm the other person down. He couldn't tell what the other person's current mood was like over the phone. After all, his ability to hide his true emotions was well-known in the industry, just like the weather in March, no one could predict him.
Li Guojing paced back and forth in a state of anxiety, his mind a jumbled mess.
Damn it! He's going to beat that idiot Xia Bang to death!
A knock sounded on the door.
"Come in!" His voice betrayed barely concealed anger.
Xia Bang, who was standing at the door, froze. Even a fool could tell that the two words he had just spoken carried a murderous intent.
Did he cause trouble?
What's up? I haven't had anything lately... wait... could it be about last night?
With that thought in mind, Xia Bang withdrew his hand from the door and turned his gaze to the woman in the living room behind him.
Meng Shan noticed Xia Bang's gaze, but instead of looking over, she got up, picked up the newspaper from the coffee table, and walked out the door.
Chabang: ...
The reinforcements have left.
He's done.
"Get the hell in here now!!" The roar from inside the door was deafening.
Chapin: He's finished...
I braced myself, pushed open the door, and as soon as I peeked out, I was greeted by a huge book.
The spine of the book hit his face, stinging painfully. Xia Bang didn't dare to lift his hand to touch it. He bent down to pick up the book, barely daring to breathe. "Brother Li," he called him in private.
"Xia Bang, how dare you! You dare play dirty tricks right under my nose! I think you're asking for trouble!" Seeing Xia Bang's face, Li Guojing's anger reached its peak, and he immediately launched into a tirade, "You fucking want to die, fine, but you're dragging me down with you! The angry shouting was accompanied by another attack of throwing books at his face. Xia Bang's face was swollen, and he didn't dare to look up or interrupt.

"It's alright. Just don't let Xia Bang come in again."

“Okay.” Even though she had many questions in her mind, Meng Shan obeyed her husband’s words.
"I'm going out for a bit. Don't bother cooking for me tonight." Li Guojing went back to his room, changed out of his uniform, and came out in civilian clothes.
He left in a hurry after saying a few words.
