"Zombies? Living corpses? Or the living dead?" Various nouns from the European and American blockbusters I have watched kept popping up in my mind.
Just as he was guessing in his heart, a sharp cry for help came from downstairs, "Help! Help!" A woman in flowery and white pajamas ran out from the door on the first floor opposite, screaming and looking behind her, as if there was something scary behind her. Upon closer inspection, she found it was a dog.
However, her cries for help did not receive any help. Instead, the zombies around her swarmed towards her like sharks smelling blood.
"Ah!" The woman seemed to be frightened by the scene before her. She held her head with both hands and squatted on the ground with her body limp.
However, the zombies did not hesitate at all. They rushed forward one after another like a tide and submerged them. The screams stopped soon.
After about ten minutes, the zombies dispersed and returned to their previous state of wandering around in a daze, leaving only a pile of scattered bones and torn pajamas.
Jiang Feng, who was standing at the window, watched the whole thing and felt cold all over, as if he had fallen into an ice cellar.
"Zombies! They really are zombies!" Jiang Feng was now certain. These were definitely zombies. How could something from the US have made its way to China? Could zombies even be shipped here? Jiang Feng felt incredibly careless. He had just witnessed such a terrifying scene, yet he could still think about these things.
Since it was a zombie, that was easy to explain. After all, Jiang Feng had watched a lot of the "Resident Evil" movies and was quite familiar with zombies. He knew that if a person bitten by a zombie didn't properly dispose of the body, they would also become a zombie, and some zombies could even mutate, etc. For humans, only the unknown is the most terrifying.
Jiang Feng came to his senses, walked into the house and carefully checked everything inside.
Then he went to the door and looked out through the peephole, only to see that the door of the retired couple living opposite was wide open, and there seemed to be a figure walking around in the dark room. It seemed that they were in trouble too.
Although Jiang Feng was not sure, he thought that no normal person would leave the door unlocked after discovering the situation outside.
Jiang Feng looked for a while and found nothing, so he moved the sofa in the living room behind the door to hold it tightly against the wall. However, Jiang Feng was a little worried about the quality of the security door.
"Bang bang bang"
Just as he had closed the door, there was a sound of banging on the door. When Jiang Feng leaned over to look in front of the cat's eyes, his pupils suddenly shrank.
I saw an old man with blood all over his mouth, his eyes dull, and his body woodenly banging against the door of his house. It seemed that he was startled by the noise of using the sofa to block the door just now.
"Damn, how come this thing has such sharp ears!" Jiang Feng felt that he had miscalculated, but fortunately it shouldn't be able to get in for the time being.
After turning around, Jiang Feng stopped paying attention to it and began to check the food and tools in the house. After a careful search, Jiang Feng found that he still had more than ten kilograms of rice, five or six kilograms of noodles, more than two kilograms of meat, and some snacks such as biscuits that he had not finished eating before.
In the past, this would have been enough to feed me for more than half a month, but when I thought about how much I ate this morning, I felt a pang of anxiety. I was afraid that this much food would only be enough for me to eat for three or four days.
As for tools, Jiang Feng found a shovel and a hammer in the room where miscellaneous items were stored.
Then I turned on the TV and turned the volume down to the minimum. All channels were repeatedly broadcasting that a virus was coming, asking people to stay away from crowds, take precautions, stay home, and wait for news of national rescue.
The mobile phone and computer have been disconnected from the Internet, and all calls are unavailable.
After gathering all the materials and information together, Jiang Feng smiled bitterly.
"The end of the world? And I'll have to go out and find something to eat in four days at the latest."
After touching his stomach, Jiang Feng decided to cook first. He didn't know when the water and electricity would be cut off, but he still had to make preparations.
To reduce the noise and smell, Jiang Feng threw the meat directly into the pot and cooked it, then steamed a pot of rice. He also found and ate the other things that could not be kept for a long time. He also filled the buckets and bottles with water, so that they could at least hold on for a while after the water was cut off.
The last two pounds of pork were cut into two large plates. After mixing with oil, salt, sauce, vinegar and chili peppers, the taste was just right. They were very delicious when eaten with rice.
As Jiang Feng was eating, tears began to flow unconsciously. This uncertainty about the future made him a little anxious. He thought that there would not be many opportunities to have a leisurely meal here in the future.
He was thinking silently in his mind, but his hands were busy all the time. In more than half an hour, all the food was eaten up.
"Uh..." Looking at his bulging belly, Jiang Feng was filled with an unprecedented sense of satisfaction, and felt that his strength seemed to have increased a little bit.
