Chapter 177 Is this thing a zombie?

On the other side, Ye Shaoheng and Ye Yuansong followed the guide into the area, and the further they went in, the more eerie and terrifying it became.

The person leading the way was small and dark-skinned. She was very short and almost blended into the darkness with her black cloak. She didn't say a word the whole time, and the two of them could only follow behind her silently. The oppressive atmosphere made it impossible for Ye Shaoheng to speak.

"How much further?" Ye Shaoheng stared at the small man in black, his eyes full of vigilance. "These connected buildings are huge. You're not going to lead us in circles again, are you?"

Ye Yuansong didn't speak. He had been observing the man in black's pace from the beginning. From the start, the man in black walked very slowly, clearly trying to lead them in circles and buy time.

Ye Yuansong wanted to observe more, so he didn't make a sound to disturb him. But as time went by, the person leading the way seemed to get impatient, and he would quicken his pace every now and then, looking somewhat irritable.

Finally, the person leading the way seemed to have made up his mind and led them into a fork in the road.

Ye Yuansong and Ye Shaoheng exchanged a glance and quickly followed. They were completely unfamiliar with the place and had no idea where to go or how to find their way. They had no choice but to stick close to this person and place their hopes on Shi Yin.

The two quickly followed, but unexpectedly they ended up in a large hall.

The hall was strangely large; when Ye Shaoheng looked up, he couldn't see the ceiling. There was no light source; only a huge, dark red statue in the center could help the two of them orient themselves.

"Hmm!"

Just as Ye Shaoheng and Ye Yuansong were wondering what this place was, a muffled groan suddenly came from not far away. The person who had led the way was seen clutching his chest and falling to the ground, with blood flowing from under his mask.

"Hey, are you... alright?" Ye Shaoheng was a little surprised, but after hesitating for a while, he still didn't go up to ask him out of kindness.

Now is not the time to be kind. None of the people here look like good people. How does he know if they are deliberately trying to lure him away from his grandfather?

"Ahhh... How is this possible? It hurts, it hurts so much!" The man in black who had led the way seemed to have suddenly suffered a serious injury, clutching his head and rolling on the ground.

As she rolled, the mask fell off, revealing a little girl inside.

"Dead, dead! How could this be!" The little girl covered her head, her face contorted in horror.

"What? Dead?" Ye Shaoheng was a little taken aback by the sudden turn of events.

"It must have been Shi Yin who killed her companion," Ye Yuansong realized, but his expression was somewhat strange.

So, did she separate from her companions to solo Tokine?

How could that be?

It's like playing a game. It's a five-player game. You can only defeat a dragon by having five people together, but you insist on doing it all by yourself. Aren't you afraid that the dragon will defeat you along with it?

Suddenly, a long knife fell from the sky and pierced through the little girl lying on the ground.

Ye Yuansong and Ye Shaoheng were astonished. The knife that fell from the sky was twice the height of the little girl. It was stuck in the ground like a bright, floor-length mirror, its gleam frightening.

What's going on here?

Ye Shaoheng instinctively stepped in front of Ye Yuansong, and the two of them stiffly looked up at the huge statue in the center of the high-rise lobby.

Now that their eyes have adapted to the darkness, and given their already excellent eyesight, Ye Shaoheng's gaze is even sharper, enhanced by his armor.

He got a clear look at the enormous creature.

It was a monster more than ten stories high. Even with his head tilted back, Ye Shaoheng could not fully see its entire form. No words could describe its majestic body. It was a knight, a knight in the truest sense of the word.

However, knights in normal propaganda are all majestic and virtuous, bringing victory, protection and hope. But this statue has a dark, terrifying, and eerie beauty that inspires awe, fear and despair.

He was bound by huge iron chains, which clanged as he moved. His crimson steed had eyes that blazed with intense fire, and its hooves seemed to tread on lava. Flame patterns on its armor glowed, and its face, covered by a helmet, looked down at Ye Shaoheng with divine majesty.

[Waaah————]

It sounded like a bugle call.

Ye Shaoheng covered his ears, feeling a resonance in his brain. A voice told him to kneel down, to accept punishment, to beg for forgiveness, to pray to God, to pray to this invincible behemoth.

Ye Shaoheng felt his heart almost stop. At this moment, he truly admired Shi Yin and the victorious Agaray and his ilk for being able to maintain their fighting spirit in the face of such creatures.

Ye Shaoheng had no idea how many sacrifices were made beneath these seemingly heroic acts, how many superhumans stopped in their tracks out of fear, or how many superhumans, who had already reached the giant creature, were so frightened by just one glance that they knelt down and submitted.

After wave after wave of people and countless sacrifices, five survivors were finally selected. Were they true heroes or selfish but lucky deserters?

But Ye Shaoheng knew that he was completely unable to move. His hands were stiff, and even standing upright in front of this behemoth required all his strength.

In the darkness, it was unclear whether the two were looking at each other or whether one of them was being completely ignored.

After all, in the face of this behemoth, two humans are far too insignificant. Perhaps Ye Shaoheng and Ye Yuansong combined are like a drop in the ocean, their size only the tip of the knife.

Fortunately, the giant creature did not appear to be fully awake. It tried to struggle, but the huge iron chain was tightly wrapped around it, and although it looked precarious, it still restrained it.

The iron chain was so wide that even the broken section was taller than Ye Shaoheng himself.

"This is mourning..." Ye Yuansong heard Ye Shaoheng murmur softly.

"What did you say?" Ye Yuansong was somewhat incredulous, after all, this thing was so different from the zombies they were seeing now.

He simply couldn't connect the zombies they had encountered with this enormous creature.

"Grandpa, look at our badges." Ye Shaoheng turned around, his eyes filled with fear and a strange, flickering flame.

Ye Yuansong then came to his senses and looked down. Their badges had two functions: one was to detect their own or others' superpower values, and the other was to detect the zombies around them.

And now, on the scale that detects zombies, the red light has reached its peak at some point.

But is it really just the peak strength? Or is this peak merely the upper limit that this badge can measure?

"No signal, can't make calls, can't send texts, we're out of contact." Ye Shaoheng flexed his stiff fingers, sweat beading on his forehead.

His hand holding the phone was cold, stiff, and even trembling.

Or rather, his whole body was shaking.

Ye Yuansong was pleased to discover that his grandson was surprisingly bold.

Faced with this behemoth, even he was stiff and speechless, his throat dry. But somehow, Ye Shaoheng managed to adapt and even managed to call for help.

Although the text message failed to send a distress call, it at least proves that Ye Shaoheng may have the courage to fight.

It wasn't too embarrassing.
