"Yes, sir!" The two officers breathed a sigh of relief.
"How many people were arrested in total during this interrogation?" Shi Yin asked again.
"Ji Chuan is waiting in interrogation room number one. Interrogation rooms 2-6 have been confirmed by the system. Interrogation rooms 8-12 seem to involve prophetic abilities and rebirth." One person immediately opened his notebook. If he had known his boss was coming today, he would have taken detailed notes.
This person was clearly excited. Instead of being impatient after learning about the apocalypse, he seemed eager to try it out.
Shi Yin nodded and glanced at the speaker's name tag: Xu Hui.
"Has the interrogation already taken?" Shi Yin asked. "What did they say?"
“No…we’re just locking them up here for now. The last one was just brought in this morning, and we haven’t had a chance to interrogate him yet…” Xu Hui’s voice trailed off. “If you need anything, we’ll send someone right now…”
"No, gather them all together in one interrogation room. I'll come back in a bit." Shi Yin calmly closed her notebook and turned to leave.
"Wait a minute! Miss Shi!" Xu Hui quickly called out to Shi Yin, "Gather them all together, what if they try to coordinate their testimonies?"
"It's alright, they're all acquaintances," Shi Yin said calmly. "I know everything about each of them, and they can't offer me any new information."
"Oh, is that so?" Xu Hui scratched his head.
Then why gather them all together?
Xu Hui was a little confused, and his colleague next to him looked equally bewildered.
"What if we gather them all together and they manage to escape?" Xu Hui asked tentatively, a little worried that his new boss might think he was unintelligent.
Three cobblers with their wits combined are still equal to one Zhuge Liang.
They might be able to catch one person with a system, but what if a group of people with a system cooperated with each other? There's a predictive ability involved.
"The purpose of bringing them together is to facilitate their collusion." Seeing the two looking confused, Shi Yin simply explained a few more words: "The focus now is on purification, not recruiting people."
These two weren't stupid. To get into the secret team, they were not only highly skilled but also top performers in exams, so they were naturally intelligent. With just a little prompting, they immediately understood.
People with cheat codes like systems or rebirth, if they know that the apocalypse will come soon and social order will fall into chaos, then whether they hoard goods or do other things, it's all for self-preservation, and no one will blame them.
But the situation is different now. The country has established an apocalyptic squad and has begun to actively respond.
The overall strength of a nation is certainly much greater than that of an individual, and if they were to split up now in preparation for future independence, hoarding large amounts of supplies could easily disrupt the nation's rhythm.
In times of crisis, both public opinion and the economy are very fragile and cannot tolerate the slightest mistake.
The power of a nation is greater than that of an individual; even a fool knows that. But there are always some arrogant and unconvinced people who think, "If I have all the advantages, who will respect me?"
In some people's view, becoming a king is certainly better than being a commoner or a worker.
However, Ye Shaoheng and Xu Hui, along with other police officers, had reservations about this point.
Those who believe that being a king is far better than being the people—once such a person becomes a ruler, how good can the people under him be?
Now, Shi Yin has gathered these people together to see if they are willing to stay and agree to be recruited. Any smart person should be able to understand the situation by now. Those who should be recruited should nod obediently, and those who have any trump cards should politely state them.
Those who are not smart enough will never be smart enough; those who are disloyal will never be loyal; and those who are not steadfast will never have their own opinions.
Once people are in a group, they are easily led by the nose and go with the flow. If a few individuals want to establish themselves as leaders and stir up emotions, those who are not firm will immediately become opportunists.
To become an asset to the nation in the apocalypse, one needs not only ability but also loyalty and intelligence; these are the people who can be directly excluded.
Thinking this, Xu Hui and his companion exchanged a glance and went out to meet with the others.
Shi Yin went to the office next door and carefully reviewed all the information about these people before leaving.
"Knock knock knock".
Shi Yin put down the documents and looked up. Before she could say "come in," she caught a glimpse of familiar fingers by the door. They were long, beautiful, and had distinct knuckles.
Shi Yin raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything.
"Miss." Nan Zhu naturally pushed open the door and walked in: "The data has been organized."
So fast?
"The integration of all the signal towers and all the outposts across the country?" Shi Yin couldn't help but ask.
"Yes, I've also highlighted the key points. Do you need to take a look?" Nan Zhu's smile remained natural and gentle, leaving Shi Yin speechless.
“…Wait a minute.” Shi Yin said helplessly.
Sometimes I really want to compete with these geniuses.
Shi Yin continued to peruse the documents, while Nan Zhu waited quietly to the side, as if he didn't exist. The process took less than ten minutes before Shi Yin stood up.
Xu Hui was already waiting outside. He had gathered everyone together in interrogation room number one. Through the glass, you could see a group of people with their heads down, occasionally exchanging glances, but mostly remaining silent with their heads down.
Nan Zhu stepped forward and opened the door for Shi Yin. Shi Yin paused for a moment, feeling quite unaccustomed to having someone so devoted to her like a nanny.
Ji Chuan was sitting at the very edge. When Shi Yin came in, he quickly looked up and made eye contact with her before looking away again, appearing completely nonchalant.
Ji Chuan was taken to find various people with systems, but the country did not expose his identity. He is now considered an undercover agent for these "golden fingers".
He was clever enough not to try to influence people's judgment by stirring up trouble, nor did he try to persuade people to obey the state's command and accept the state's offer of amnesty.
He had clearly realized long ago that Shi Yin needed someone smart enough to be one of his own.
"I think the police officers who were guarding you have already explained the current situation to you and the reason why you are being held here."
The footsteps immediately drew the attention of everyone in the interrogation room; some people's expressions changed slightly, while others looked completely bewildered.
Shi Yin walked to the table in the interrogation room, sat directly on the prepared single sofa, and went straight to the point without any opening remarks.
"The nation possesses the strongest superpowered individuals and reborn individuals. Only by cooperating with the nation and the world's strongest individuals can one be qualified to reach the end. Before we begin our conversation, I think you should understand this point in your hearts."
Ji Chuan's lips twitched involuntarily.
The strongest superpowered individual and reborn being, the strongest in the world... Is this describing himself? While explaining things to them, is he inadvertently praising himself?
