Well, if they really don't want to go, then there's no point in forcing them. Let them do as they please.
Seeing the boy's bewildered expression, Shi Yin didn't try to dissuade him too much. In this apocalyptic world, the country wasn't in the mood to enforce nine years of compulsory education. If he really didn't want to go to school, so be it, just don't regret it later.
"Hello, I'd like three Bloody Marys, without tomato sauce."
Just as Shi Yin was silent, a man walked in, looking travel-worn.
He was wearing a complete overcoat, and looked normal, but you could see through the collar that the clothes underneath were tattered, suggesting that he was living in poverty.
"A Bloody Mary without tomato sauce isn't authentic, sir. Are you sure you want this much?" The young man at the bar was clearly taken aback: "I can't make this drink. Only OK can."
"Okay, three more lemon slices, please." The man hurriedly tossed out a paper packet containing what appeared to be a hard object, which clattered onto the table with a "click."
Upon hearing this, the young man at the bar didn't dare to be negligent. He immediately pressed a bell, then stepped back to a distance. A short while later, a person wearing sunglasses walked in from the doorway.
"What would you like to order?" The man had spiky hair and looked somewhat unruly. The sign on his chest read "OK Bro" in gold lettering.
"Three Bloody Marys, no tomato sauce, and three extra lemon slices." The man said it very fluently, so it must have been his first time here. "And three dry Martinis, one sip each, please."
"Come with me, VIP seats." OK adjusted his glasses, and even through the sunglasses, you could see that his eyes were now narrowed into slits with laughter.
Immediately afterwards, OK led the man to a corner. After a while, the man took out a black bag. OK opened it, glanced at it, then closed the bag with a grin and put it in his pocket. He then took out two tubes and handed them to the man.
The man carefully placed the two tubes close to his body, looked around nervously like a thief, and then, guided by OK, slipped out through the small door.
This looks like they're acting too guilty. If they accidentally run into an inspection team, they'll be caught red-handed...
Shi Yin gently shook her head.
However, it seems that business is going very smoothly here, and Guan Nianshan has even dared to delegate the right to make transactions to his subordinates.
Shi Yin slowly picked up the menu from the side. After this experience, she was a little curious about what was on it.
"Bang!"
Suddenly, a faint sound of shattering glass came from behind the bar, seemingly the crisp sound of a wine glass hitting the ground.
The noise from the bar was too loud, and the walls were well soundproofed, so the broken sound was only faint and indistinct. If it were an ordinary person, they would probably just think it was a hallucination.
Shi Yin casually scanned the wall and actually found a small door in an inconspicuous corner.
The small door blends almost seamlessly into the wall; you wouldn't notice it unless you looked closely.
"Wait, ma'am, you can't come in through this door!"
Seeing Shi Yin get down from her seat and push her hand against the door, OK was terrified and rushed over in three steps.
"These are our staff's access routes and rooms; non-staff members are not allowed to enter," OK said with a forced smile.
“I’m looking for Guan Nianshan,” Shi Yin said directly, pointing to the badge on her chest.
OK, take a closer look. The words that were about to come out of his mouth took a turn, and he swallowed them back down, smashing them into pieces. When he saw the shape, color, and bars on the badge, his legs went weak and he almost knelt down.
He didn't recognize the person in front of him, but he recognized the badge. He knew every subtle difference and design of the badge by heart, so well that he couldn't be more familiar with it. He immediately shut his mouth and reached out to open the door for Shi Yin.
"Guan Nianshan! You are simply unreasonable! Your parents loved you so much, and they've been dead for so long, haven't you even visited their graves?"
"Hmm... I'm just trying to avoid suspicion. Besides, those are your parents' graves. Why would I go to sweep their graves?" The closer he got, the clearer Guan Nianshan's voice became: "I don't want to see the old man. I don't want to sweep either of their graves. It doesn't matter whether I go or not, right?"
"Besides, aren't you here? You can burn more for them."
"Guan Nianshan!"
"Hiss, keep it down, I can hear you. My hearing is fine, I'm not deaf..." Guan Nianshan picked at his ear: "Really, the people I invited are such good actors, yet they're so rude in front of them. They have no class."
The two performers on stage were dressed in simple, unpretentious makeup, typical of Yue Opera. Their singing was beautiful, and their expressive eyes during the performance were genuine, moving, and elegant.
The sound of the opera surprisingly calmed me, as if a gentle energy field was flowing around me, making the already beautiful sound even more immersive.
The person on this stage is a superhuman.
Upon seeing this, one of the performers on stage paused for a moment, knowing how secluded the place was, and hesitated at the sudden appearance of a stranger.
Seeing the person on stage suddenly hesitate, Guan Nianshan and Song Yunshan paused in their argument. Following the performer's gaze, the words they were about to say stuck in their throats.
“Miss Shiyin…” Song Yunshan’s anger was immediately dampened as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over him.
"Oh my, Miss Shi, what brings you here?" Guan Nianshan reacted quickly, smiling as he stood up and offered Shi Yin a seat of honor.
"Keep singing." Shi Yin casually found an empty seat and sat down.
She remained expressionless and indifferent, leaving the two who had just been arguing wondering what she was up to. They could only shut their mouths in embarrassment and sit down in silence.
The two performers on stage were experienced with all kinds of audiences and were very shrewd. When they saw Guan Nianshan shut up, they immediately realized that Shi Yin was no ordinary person, and immediately followed Shi Yin's orders to continue singing.
"A beautiful girl like Lin Daiyu fell from the sky, like a light cloud just emerging from the mountain peak."
"I thought he was a frivolous and uncultured person, but it turns out he has a refined character and is no ordinary person."
"..."
Throughout the entire process, Shi Yin simply listened quietly, her face expressionless, making it impossible to tell whether she was angry or not.
This made Guan Nianshan break out in a cold sweat. Was he being too extravagant? If it was deemed extravagant, wouldn't his profits be cut? His money would be deducted.
Just make up any excuse...
"They are clearly outsiders before my eyes, but in my heart they are old friends~" The two Yue Opera performers sang "A Lin Sister Fell From Heaven" smoothly, and then looked at Shi Yin's expression.
"Go down." Shi Yin didn't say anything, just waved her hand: "You sang well."
Seeing that Shi Yin didn't seem angry, everyone in the room breathed a sigh of relief.
Guan Nianshan was inwardly groaning. Shi Yin always had a cold face, which made it really difficult for someone as perceptive as him to deal with her.
"Song Yunshan, I seem to recall warning you that you should not set foot on the territory of Yanlong Kingdom unless absolutely necessary?" Shi Yin leaned back in her chair, and Guan Nianshan quickly prepared tea for her and brought it over.
"I...I..." Song Yunshan hesitated for a moment. He still had a psychological shadow over Shi Yin and felt really guilty.
“You shouldn’t be here arguing with Guan Nianshan about something as trivial as paying respects to your parents. I don’t care what personal grudges or conflicts you have, but no rule should be broken.”
"I'll pretend I didn't see it this time, but if you sneak into Yanlong Kingdom's territory so blatantly again with such a trivial matter, don't blame me for following the rules."
